Id like to start by saying I'm not even a huge fan of survivor-likes, but this one really grabbed me! The way you can engage with the environment is so unique, and has me meaningfully moving around the environment outside of the normal dodging hordes of enemies. Right from the start, the game slaps you in the face with its style and atmosphere. The art is fantastic The music is fantastic The gameplay is fantastic Great game at a great value! I'd write more, but I SEE A HORDE OF RATS COMING MY WAY!! 🐀
Like the original Beatdown City, Survivors takes a familiar form of gameplay and makes it more clever. All that and a killer soundtrack! Whether you're new to Beatdown City or are a long-time fan, Survivors has a lot to offer.
To start: the Survivors-like / bullet heaven genre is possibly my favorite, and this has quickly become my favorite game in it. (For further context, there is a sale on many games in the genre this week, and many of them have demos, so I have played a lot of them.) This game is so deep; It has so many characters with so many different special abilities, so many weapons and power-ups that can be combined in so many different ways, and it's all so visually distinct with a wonderful, fun art style. The game is more challenging than a lot of others in the genre, but not arbitrarily so, and it makes getting past the obstacles all the more satisfying. Others in the genre start off pretty easy and only get even easier as the player progresses, but this game has remained a fun challenge even as I've bought more upgrades and power-ups.
I first played this on Xbox Series X through Game Pass, and I was hooked from the start. The gameplay is addicting, and the soundtrack is really good. I ended up finding the music on Apple Music and have been listening to it ever since. I also like that you can choose the music artists as playable characters, which adds a unique touch to the game. I enjoyed it enough that I decided to buy it on Steam too. If you're on the fence, it's definitely worth checking out!
Pretty solid survivor game. Has a bit more to pay attention to than the original, with dangerous ground effects and some bosses/enemies. Also the music is good.
I have been having an absolute blast with the game so far. Pretty much been doing everything with only a few unlocks left. The style is fantastic, the music is great, and really I'm just having fun. The crafting system brings a little more variety to weapon combos that other games and leads to some really fun shenanigans, getting boot/chair, knife/board, bird/soda, and rocket chanclas leaves you an unkillable murder machine and it's just a delightfully mad silly time. I might be working on a longer review later but for now while it doesn't reinvent the survivor genre it's a damn damn good one of those
Incredibly Fun .. killer sound track and has the essence of one more game whenever I wipe or clear a stage. Highly Recommend
You get to fight acid rats on fire and bleeding cockroaches with holy chanclas and pigeons carrying soda. It's an easy recommend, not to mention the fire soundtrack
A Survivors game with a fresh take, solid challenge, and a killer soundtrack, this is a strong recommend for anyone that likes bullet hells or Survivors style games. There is a lot of depth in the game from weapon and passive combos, environmental hazards, and enemy variety. If you've played Treachery in Beatdown City, there are also a lot of well appreciated cameos and Easter eggs. Did I mention the soundtrack is great? Because the soundtrack is great. Definitely something you can pick up quick and unconsciously sink a few hours into.
I haven't picked up a survivors like in a long time but I'm glad I grabbed this one. I'm really enjoying the progression systems and learning the systems! The soundtrack is dope! I'm still early on but I can tell it'll be my go to game for a while!
