Beastieball

This game slaps. Cuz volleyball. I wasn't sure about the volleyball part but it is way more fun than I expected, because it adds different ways to win other than reduce the other teams health to zero (which you can still do, if you prefer). For example, some moves are vertical instead of horizontal, and if they aren't covering that part of the lane, you can get a free point. Other mechanics are cool as well, like if you use two teammates together often, they may become best friends or rivals, and can even learn moves from each other. Battles are on the quicker side, which is nice. There are things similar to weather moves, where you can add a benefit or hinderance to the field. If you are on the fence, try the demo. It good.

Fun

One of if not the best creature collecters I've played, every beastie feels extremely unique in both appearance and playstyle, the music is amazing, and the lack of rng in battles makes it feel like a match going in your favour is all because of skill and strategy and not dumb luck. The story is great, the games feel very satisfying and often go back and forth rather than one side holding all the power, and it's cool to have wiped beasties spring back up after time rather than just sitting there for the rest of the match. I think my favorite feature is that you can view both your beasties and your opponents plays and damage estimates, it's really nice to know what tricks they have to be able to play against them, and it's also really nice to be able to see whether or not they can wipe one of your beasties so you can play around it. Overall, just a very fun and satisfying game :)

This game is really fun, it's inspired by pokemon, but its not a just another pokemon ripoff game. The "battle" mechanics are unique while still having familiar concepts like types, statuses and EVs. The music is what I love the most about the game, but the creatures are also super cute. The plot is pretty engaging, you have to play your way to the top in order to save a wildlife reserve from being demolished. The only issue I have encountered is that the game can freeze for a second and has crashed before.

I started my first playthrough and within the first 10 minutes of playing, I already knew I was looking at a 10/10 game. I can only hope these guys keep updating the game like they already are (and a lot), because you can really feel how much love and passion they've put into Beastieball. This gives me the same vibe as Cassette Beasts, not only because they share the same genre, but mostly because they both try to reinvent the creature collector formula. and they succeed. Somehow, volleyball and turn based “combat” fit together perfectly. The matches are both dynamic and strategic, and there’s a lot of depth when it comes to customization, with different mechanics between Beasties such as relationships, friendship moves, and more. Just browsing through the menus made me realize how carefully this game has been crafted and how much love has gone into it. From the scalable difficulty options to the beautiful visual studies of every single creature, there’s so much attention to detail everywhere. An amazing idea shaped into a great videogame. I'm gonna spend hours and hours playing this.
