Base game is a perfect introduction for a gamer to Battletech universe. Gameplay is fun for turn based combat and definitely allowing for a lot of different approaches to a mission depending on mechs you bring into it. Mechs can be modified and in as in vanilla it's easy to learn modded experience provide interesting expansion to it. Fully recommend going through full campaign vanilla once and jumping into modded experience like BT:Advanced 3062 or Roguetech. Grass is not greener here if you're from 40k but it has its own shade which some might prefer more

Wer Mechs und Rundenstrategie mag, kommt an Battletech nicht vorbei!
Do you like mechs? Like stomping stuff? Like turn based strategy? Then this game is right for you! A decent story in a fairly unused part of the Inner Sphere, the game's story will make you feel something at least. But as with anything Battletech what you come for are the mechs and this game has it in spades!
Played this years ago and while it has it's quirks and shortcomings, it's still an excellent and replayable game.
Woke ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ garbage. Preselected female character. All characters are ugly as ♥♥♥♥. Half of them are black. While 99% of your playerbase are straight White men. What a disgrace.
Cautious positive review. Here are the facts * game has addictive but repetitive gameplay * missions will start to look like copies of previous missions * game has MANY game breaking bugs which I didnt notice until it was too late (for example, the bug that wont let you save game, which resulted in a whole days playtime being lost) other bugs include freezing your computer, loading screen bugs, and ship and mech bay display bugs Often the online solution to these bugs is to start a new game or load a save game to fix it. * the fact the devs left this game in such a state that game bugs need a restart or a load game to resolve shows that they didnt care that much about bugs or player experience, hence repetitive gameplay * having said that they stumbled upon something fun, as mechs are fun to command in battle * the strategy of this game is designed often with razor thin margins for error in campaign missions, creating tension, but also a feeling that level design is just plain bad, as things can easily swing the balance against the player * girl bosses are prominent in the campaign and have superhero roles basically, which is cringe * there is no option to change your destiny in the game, the dialoge choices mean nothing other than different text in response * the story is set in the battletech universe and is decently written in parts. The campaign has a predictable story but throws one or two curveballs. The lore in general is based and features a time of interstellar feudalism and noble houses etc, which is kinda based in itself that an honor code and warrior ethos prevails in the game. * i run this game on a hard drive and not on an SSD, 32 gig of ram, ryzen 5 3600, and game sometimes stutters or lags but in general gameplay is decent and has no issues. * APART FROM THE GAME BREAKING BUGS and the unstable engine of the game. * sound bugs for example are another issue, with no sound during cutscenes just silence, and loss of some audio elements unless you turn off 3D sound in windows. This is ridiculous care of a game and should be shamed for shoddy workmanship. Summary, its mostly good but the signs of shoddy workmanship and a bit of female pedestal vibes substantially taint the experience of this game. 7/10
Bought this many years ago. Finally beat the game recently. Loved the story, loved the tactical combat, love the Mechwarrior/Battletech universe. Sad we'll never see a part two of this due to licensing. It was a pleasure fighting as Mechwarrior.
good one!
Game is absolute woke trash. Optimization is poor, graphics are poor. Combat tactics are poor.
