I'm an old man 62 that took up gaming for the first time last year, I'm building a retirement bunch of games. But" I suck! This game is perfect for me I can practice without getting everyone mad....Now I just need the time :P...
This game is, as of this review, early access, and that carries with it a (valid) implication of a lack of polish. That said, this game is perfect for people who want to participate in the Battle Arena craze but want to practice without commiting others to have to put up with their newbie shenanigans. Practice your tactics, reloading on the fly, sniping without being a target yourself... No one knows how to do this right out of the gate, your favorite streamers have been doing this for YEARS. Granted, no AI will be as unpredictable as real humans, but this will give you a chance to rehearse and learn the habits to get you started.
Ive been eye balling this for awhile because we need more games like this for people like myself who don't always want to play against people or even a warm up. with that being said here is my honest opinion. Over all this game is good, the concept is awesome. For this game game being only made by one person and with updates too is great in my book (keep up the good work!) i'll get into the pros and cons not to be mean but what i would like to see possibly in the future and maybe smooth some things out a bit. cause i can see potential in this. Heres what I think. I think the begining of instructions right off the bat is good and you get to start off with two weapons (ak47 and "kar 98") which is great. Other bots have an m16, AWM from PUBG and a couple other weapons possibly I did not pick up so good start there with weapons hopefully we get to see more in the future. ADSing ( Aim Down Sights) is weird, when you do and strafe from left to right it does this snap feelings that isn't a huge deal but maybe try and smooth that out where it doesn't feel clunky i think will improve the flow of the movement. The settings for the game is good and easy to work with. my only complaint for that is the mouse settings for X and Y axis. i have it set to .1 and it still a bit too fast not sure how the coding is working for that but i run at 800 DPI and have never had that happen with any other game so maybe we can see a fix there but it's slow enough i can use it and enjoy. maybe for those who run at this DPI maybe try 400-450 DPI and see how that works out. I'm too stubborn to change so I'll deal LOL. Maybe a feature where you can control how many bots are on the playing field which again isn't a huge issue but somepoints there does tend to get a gang up of 4-5 on 1 and that can be slightly frustrating. Also The AI actually aren't that bad, at some points there was times where i could stare at them and they not shoot at all and other wherer i got smoked pretty quickly. Maybe adding a difficult settings similar to Battle Royale traininer, they have a difficulty setting and a customizeable one so you can adjust reaction time, sight, defensive offensive moment upon being fired at. maybe something to look into. The size of the map is awesome, everything is close yet feels far apart. Upon leaving the training area inside a building where you won't get attacked there is a platform whcih sends you to 4 different locations all on the same map and you can hoof it if you wanted to get to other locations which isn't an issue in my opinion. Over all The game is good, some Clunky feelings and maybe some more options on some things to be added but I'm glad i bought this for very little and enjoy slaying bots. I look forward to what you do with your game and improve. looking forward to see the futre of this game. keep up the good work!
Don't expect the sun and the moon, but... For this price, and given the premise that this is supposed to be a bootcamp, it's actually not that bad even this early on. It does help you out to practice with different weapons that appear in various Battle Royale games, and it allows you to learn their quirks, how they recoil, effective distance and such. I think there's still work to be done. I really hope that the dev won't abandone it, because it has great potential, but even today you can pick it up for the laughable price it sells for, and get that much needed practice.
Save your money, my dudes. *Edit* This being a solo project, damn good job from the dev.
I just played the new update (Patch 1.2) and it is a vast improvment from the game I bought last month. Historically, I've really been bad at playing FPS games. I just want to get good enough to enjoy playing, get a few kills and not die 3 seconds after spawning. This game is exactly what I wanted... a no-pressure, single-player environment where I can learn to aim better, manage my ammo, and know when to run and when to fight. So far, this game has helped me with my aim and I'm way less panicy than I was when I started. Been streaming/saving on Twitch so I can track my progress. While I'm not ready for PuBG or others yet, I feel like I'm somewhat improving. The new patch was a huge leap forward. Great job by the one-man army making this game.
I was offered a key for this game to review it through the STEAM Curator Program. I won't lie, initially I was hesitant about even accepting the key for a game like this as I personally hadn't seen much of a point to 'aim trainers' when you can otherwise just play the game you're hoping to get better at. After putting almost an hour into this game, I firmly believe I can offer an honest review on what the title has to offer. There are a good number of guns in the game, each offering a unique recoil and play style; though I'll admit the sniper rifles are at an odd angle and make for uncomfortable gameplay. The AI in the game is alright but nothing special. They were often clumped up together in a building with their abcks turned to me. This wasn't the case every time though. There were more than enough cases where I was getting charged by a handful of AI but their aim wasn't great. I couldn't say it really simulated a mid tier player but maybe an entirely new player the FPS genre? Overall, the game isn't bad and it does do what it aims to, help you improve your aim even though I couldn't say the recoil is comparable to other shooters. I suppose you'd better your reaction timing with a game like this but even then, the AI would need improvements across the board.
A fun diversion to other shooter games. More to follow. Update after 2 hours of game-play. Battle Royale Bootcamp is a single-player first person shooter. The game has 2 modes Battle Royale Mode(shrinking map) and Arcade Mode(Endless waves). In both levels you can swap weapons or pick up weapons from crates. Your health as well as being regenerative can also be replenished with health kits dropped by the AI. If you run out of or go low on ammo there are crates to get new weapons or the AI may drop ammo boxes occasionally. Also to note there is only one map so you will become very intimate with the map's layout. One issue with the Battle Royale Mode is that the AI will often stand outside of the zone and you will see this phrase alot when playing this mode, "Zone killed "insert ai name here". Hopefully in future updates or possible new game more maps and maybe a way to mod in maps, weapons, and other stuff. I know that the Steam Workshops is a bit of a hassle to deal with but got to have dreams and gripes. Overall this is good game to spend a few rounds messing around and just having fun. My favorite thing to do is get to the top of the plane in the mountain or find a building that allows you to go all the way to the roof and just snipe away until your ammo runs out.
This is fricken AWFUL!!!! This is a cheap money grab. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!!
