My experience (started playing in 1998): +HUGE world to explore +Lore is exeptional and humorous +Friendly playerbase +Much to do -Maybe too much to do -Harsh learning curve for beginners -Questing can be boring due learning the right syntaxes -Sucks all of your free time when you start liking the game If text based game does not scare you I dare to try BatMUD. It rocks hard.

Seemed like a decent game until it wouldn't let me log in. When I enter my name and password it says "unknown command." I thought maybe my password was wrong but it let's me log in on their site. Hard to recommend something that won't let you play it.

I don't know if I like it so far, but I don't think it's a bad game. It took me 10 hours off and on to finish the tutorial, I'm new to MUDs, and now I'm thrust into a massive world and overwhelmed. I completed a quest, but I accidentally leveled mid-quest, fell out of range for it, and didn't get a legend mark saying I completed it. I don't know if I'll keep trying or not. I only seem to have enough attention-span until I finish what I set out to do; Once I've done that I don't feel like walking all the way back to an inn to save all my stuff. This genre seems perfect for me but so far it's all very tedious. I would think a game that's been around as long as I have would've ironed-out some "quality of life" updates by now. Unless that's just how people like it.. I don't know if I like it. I'm trying to. You'll definitely get your money's worth for this one at the very least.

Batmud was my first ever oldschool MUD, it was interesting it definitely felt dated when I played it. it also seems to have a lot of cash shops like many other MMO games these days I think that's to help keep it alive. This game also appearently predates the term MMO so a MUD back then is basically what we'd call an MMO now, I think. Over all i found it interesting but couldnt really ever get invested in it. Not sure its because it just didnt scratch that itch for me or what. but its decent certainly not bad for the $4.99 price tag.

Before WOW, Ultima online, Eve etc MMORPGs there wer MUDs (multi-user Dungeons). BatMUD is a finnish classic and one of the firstr from the 1990. As a text based game (but with this text-graphical window client) game uses the greated graphics ever created - your imagination. Explore vast continents with over 15k rooms inside areas, tens playable of races, dozens of guilds and incredible amount of spells, skills and so on. Depth in the game is just unparalled. ASCII worked well in NetHack and this is better.

Immense MMORPG
