The concept is nice and the game is visually pleasant. However the controls need massive work. The crew often becomes stuck just trying to walk through the passages. Already had to restart several games due to entire crew trying to walk through a doorway by attempting to meld into the corner of the passage. I waited for this game expecting a finished and playable product on launch. Being unable to proceed beyond the very first stages of base construction due to unworkable AI path finding is a headache I would rather avoid. Refund requested.
This game is basically an alpha, playing for a few hours nets bugs and glitches that make it unplayable. Bonus: Steam wont refund your money even though they sold a clearly defective product. I had to do a charge-back through my bank in order to get my money back.
I thought it was a work in progress by the way it plays and they have DLC out and the game is still a buggy mess. Thumbs down bro, sorry
i don't usually write reviews, but i feel this one warrants it. the game is good, but as it is now, it is so buggy the main difficulty is getting the missions done before your crew starts bugging out. I've had perfectly healthy crew members go to rest, and never get up, and their bars start draining until they die, or even worse, they never die and take up space. and this happens randomly and in any situation. I've had the bug out in the shower, while sitting down eating/drinking, while using a workstation, etc. i will give it a go again in a few months and see how it is doing and update my review accordingly. i know it is Early Access, but this seems like a bug that should be high on the priority list, and i may only have 10 hours, but they are over quite a bit of time, not all in the same week
game can be and should be good! However as mentioned by others the game isin't actually playable. later down the game as you progress and i really tried to trooper through, by dismissing stuck AI to try and keep the water/oxygen going. its impossible drones get stuck then cant recharge and people become broken to the point they are dragging there feet or stuck. either way you cant keep up the oxygen growth and water. game cant be played until you fix it!! i get its on early release but surly someones not allowing this to launch if its not even achievable??? crazy
Base One is the child of a talented art director and a lazy programmer. Visually appealing, but every feature superficial (and often WTF stupidly implemented). Tried really hard to play it, but just kept hitting dead ends. More than a few game killing bugs that will make you pound the desk harder than a meteoroid strike. Whoever did testing was clearly ignored by the developers because, as we all know: In space, no one can hear you scream.
So the negative review for games i take with a grain of salt. However, for this game I TOTALLY AGREE WITH THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS. The Tutorial everything is GREAT you think its the perfect working game. Then you get to campaign 2 and the technicians do nothing, oxygen runs out, AI people walk in place get stuck at doors. I was and am BEYOND frustrated with this game. Until such time as they fix the AI issue i cannot recommend anyone pay money for this game. This should be in PRE release not a fully released game. I really want to enjoy this game and i think it has huge potential. The graphics are STELLAR, the modules and build are great the AI is a complete and utter joke beyond the tutorial. Graphics 10/10 AI 0/10 Stoylines 9/10 Replayablity UNKNOWN Overall 5/10 Review update fo 11/30/2025 STILL A HUGE NO. Even their updates are bad, they havent fixed the AI issues for ANYTHING but just keep releasing contect. FIX THE ISSUES. At about the halfway point eeryone just starts dying even with high health and eveyrthing there they dont do anything but run in place. Ive seen stupid AI integration BUT THIS IS THE WORST> I had HOPES now they are just pipe dreams.
Unfortunately i'm having to give this game a dislike, here's why; Dont get me wrong, this game would have a great potential to be a great game if the devs continued to work on this game. this game is unfinished. It is very buggy to the point that the AI get stuck within the space station. Lack of content within the game, after a while it gets quite boring. Personally i completed the campaign and most of the challenges in under 3 hrs of playing. The devs have abandoned this game is still asking top dollar ($29.95AUD) for an unfinished game that they havn't even updated in the last 2 years at this point of the review. Like i said this game would have great potential if it was still being worked on, as far as i have seen this is the only game out there that is like this hence why i got it when i did back in 2021.
Unfinished, buggy, abandonware.
Abandoned by the developers less than a year after release and left in such a broken state that merely being able to complete missions is a coin flip due to characters getting stuck. Not only would I advocate against buying this "game" but it shouldn't even be allowed to be sold. Valve, take this off the store. Its continued presence undermines ethical practices and exist solely as an insult to consumers.
