Somewhere deep within the woods of Cornwall, a timeless force is stirring. Unseen beneath the ancient burial mound, known locally as Barrow Hill, a forgotten myth awakens. Use archaeology to discover that the barrow is more than just a collection of forgotten standing stones.

I wish there were more games like this in 2025. This is a true 2000s point and click gaming experience that is reminiscent of childhood. It’s quite similar to Nancy Drew in terms of graphics and style. If HER Interactive made horror games this is what I imagine it would be like. Yes, the controls are a little clunky but this game is almost 20 years old. I still think it holds up well and the storyline is gripping.
I don't think I can recommend this game nowadays. Maybe it works better on smartphones or tablets but for a windows game it didn't age well.
Massive amounts of atmosphere and charm kept me thoroughly engaged the whole way through. A type of spooky story that I wasn't accustomed to with an "evil" rooted in stuff I know very little about made it even more fun to explore every nook and cranny and read all the world building and lore. On paper when you know the game it doesn't seem like it should be scary but it manages to create a really spooky and tense mood of danger regardless, and that's to be seriously respected, let alone that it still holds up almost 20 years later. That being said, it's not all great. It is very very easy to miss certain hot spots that feel frankly like they are set that way just to pad gameplay, backtracking, and clicking on literally everything in the hopes something will happen. It is pretty easy to miss something small and find yourself wandering with no clue what to do or that a path you hadn't explored even existed. I had to consult a guide on a few things and I don't regret using it, but even so I still heartily recommend it to fans of this kinda thing who haven't played it already or if you're curious. It's a very niche kinda horror game but if like me it scratches that itch of a more slowburn and classic horror vibe with a ton of heart in its creation, you'll probably dig it regardless of its shortcomings like I have.
Very immersive and good puzzles
indie games have a flavour to them and this one is unique!
I played this game back when I had the CD-ROM in the early 2000s. Still holds up as my favorite October game. Its quick, spooky, and weird but good weird.
Excellent point and click horror themed game! I love the story building through all of the notes and recordings. Although the game may not be for everyone do to all of the reading necessary to complete some of the puzzles.
Very low budget old point and click. Game play is not enjoyable. Gave up after 90 minutes and many many looks at walkthroughs.
