Man, I love this game. I wasn't expecting much when I first got it, but then I watched the intro and I was struck by the fantastic production value. The art and animation are cute and great, the music is also really good, very reminiscent of Star Fox, which you can tell the game takes a lot of inspiration from. The game definitely shines in co-op way more than in single player, which is why it is an incredible shame that it doesn't have an online co-op mode, I did play online with with a couple friends using Parsec, which isn't optimal. That is probably the only flaw on an otherwise fantastic and very fun SHMUP. Definitely worth your while and more than worth the price, especially if you have friends to play locally with, or if you don't mind using Parsec.
☑️Challenging Shoot Em Up. ☑️An emotional story. ☑️Fun game to Co-op / Remote Play ❌Online-Multiplayer B.ARK is a very colorful and cute throwback to the classic shoot em up games from the golden ages. Games like U.N. Squadron, R-Type and many others that hit's a special place in a 80s/90s kids heart. The game comes with a rather unusual twist, there is a solid emotional story about the crew of animals that have been lost in space after their team of scientists detached their space ship after being caught and pulled back down to earth by the aliens that were invading the planet. I have to say, I get rather emotional when animals are separated from their owners or lost or are harmed in any way shape or form, so these little stories which are optional, made me get a little upset and ready to reunite them with their team. The combat overall is very fun, and challenging with scaling difficulty based on the options chosen. Normal > Hard > Insane. Normal offers a decent level of difficulty while not being too overwhelming where as Hard and Insane really start to ramp up making it a welcoming challenge to those who wish to test themselves. There isn't much each to add besides the lack of Online-Multiplayer, most people myself included no longer have the ability to co-op or really remote play, and I would have really liked to see the ability to play online with others. But it doesn't really effect my overall review.
Like most bullet hell games, it's hard to see your own character among all the projectiles, especially with 3 other people flying around. For players who've played this type of game before, it's totally fine; they've trained their eyes to be able to see. For people new to these kinds of games, it's incredibly frustrating and for them, it feels like they're not useful (bullets hit almost nothing) and keep dying.
Really fun and cute 4-player couch co-op game, but it doesn't have online multiplayer. I recommend this game if you have friends or family to play with.
Love the animations, the way the characters are different and each have their own attacks, played single player and co-op and it totally changes the way you play, the supers are pretty awesome in co-op and the interactions between characters are very good. The insane diffuclty is also very intense, so you need a lot of cooperation between all teammates to complete the levels. This is great for kids to adults, remember the couch co-op from early super nintendo days, but with better graphics, you will enjoy this.
Great graphics and audio, fun and challenging gameplay, and the nuances of the 4 different characters makes this pretty fun to play. I hope to see expanded content come for this!
Game is a B.LAST to play. Levels are both challenging and gorgeous to look at. The Design on both the hero charters and the enemies is fantastic not to speak of the animations, at the price point its a very easy to recommend game. 10/10
