About

THE BOOMER SHOOTER TO END THEM ALL (NOT REALLY)
Bane Murrain is a cyber-baroque action-horror singleplayer shooter campaign, with emphasis on fast reflexes, resource management and a pinch of speedrunning skill. It's a game built from the foundation of retro shooters like Quake II & Final DOOM, while paying homage to modern shooter gems like DUSK & Viscerafest.
BREAK THE BIOHAZARD
Play as Dayne Muren, a nervous engineer worker with a crazy edge, who's thrown out of normality and into a hellish bloodbath after a parasite turns his crewmates into flesh-eating monsters!
Blast through the hordes of undead and punch enemies into exploding gibs in a full campaign of semi-linear, entirely hand-drawn levels, interspliced with voice-acted visual novel story segments where your choices effect all later dialogues. Discover the secrets of the malicious Krotech and the truth behind the K.R.E.V spaceship's unfolding chaos...
Y2K ALL THE WAY
Early 2000s sci-fi and survival horror aesthetics merge with a regal stitching to form the K.R.E.V, a research space station turned into a warped nightmare. We've even got a saferoom.
This is a one-dev job and a huge personal passion project, so if you're reading this... thanks for being here!

Bane Murain is a singleplayer retro-fps that's understandably rough around the edges for an early access solo-dev title, and quite a bit more difficult then I expected on the "intended" difficulty that's just named after the game. I found it a little frustrating in places but it has a certain 2000s, Deviantart-core charm not unlike Project Absentia. The dialogue is stiff in places but Dayne's quips are amusing enough, what with him frequently flubbing or misremembering his one-liners. I also can't say I've seen a retro-FPS with romance options before, so that's certainly unique. I think it needs a bit of tuning and some bugfixing, and much more ammo drops, but it has potential. Looking forward to further episodes- I might play them on one difficulty lower though, for a chiller time. I advise turning off the "Evil Doors" option to avoid Build-engine-esque deaths at the threshold of said doors. I also recommend getting the upgrade for the rocket launcher that removes self-damage at your earliest convenience.
Bane Murrain is a welcome and fresh new take on the boomer shooter genre that oozes style from every crevice. it incorporates comedic horror along with high adrenaline moments action like that of quake/doom game. From the funny quips the main character makes, the meme huds, to the taunting and funny death screens. The alien designs are also praise worthy including the art direction as its visceral seeing limbs being removed and its beautiful to see the character and level designs. As of writing this I havent had a good chance to delve entirely into the romance gameplay portion of the game but the few interactions I had with the companions for this bi disaster of protag are super memorable. Something i cant say for others in this genre even iconic ones, as the silent protag trope lone solider often makes them 1 dimensional. Here however, your companions have a palpable personality and established lore and story thats gripping enough to honestly want to see what happens next. I'm excited to see what the dev has in store for upcoming updates for this game and even not, its a underrated gem I'm glad to have kept my eye on.
I've played through this funny little early access boomer shooter twice now and there is no heterosexual explanation to the way Wayne answers the call from Zeph at the start of the game. That's it, that's my very nuanced review.
This FPS game is insanely fun, the mechanics are easy to understand, the voice acting and characters are also so amazing its hard not to love them, and the story is also amazing! I don't play many FPS games but I really liked this one a lot!
Definitely a game worth considering playing, even if not familiar with the genre, I personally enjoyed my short time playing.
its like half-life but for people who like strong women (Alyssa my beloved) and twinkish men (Zeph my beloved)
Absolutely peak game in progress, ahh my pc
fun shooter. for 6 bucks can't complain. I have payed more for worse and the hand drawn art give it a lot of charm.
