This game has aged incredibly well. I only played through for a trip down memory lane, but I must have been very drunk when I played it originally, as I pretty much only remembered the first scene! It was nice to play through as an evil character too, and recruit evil companions, as there were some decent quests I couldn't have seen in my "good" playthrough 20-odd years ago. I didn't like the setting; too many buildings, too many dungeons, and I really missed the green, countryside maps from the first game. Other than that, though, still a great game in January 2026 :)
Been playing since the original release, the fresh coat of paint is appreciated.
Real time combat wasn't my thing and it still isn't but the whole point of Shadows of Amn is to see the closure of the Gorion s Ward s tale, many elements resonate a lot to this day and a big part of that is thanks to David Warner a truly shakespearean actor.

I really dislike the kind of real time pause combat this game has, I just think it's tedious and not fun. So I'm really thankful for the story mode that basically renders the combat irrelevant. If it wasn't for that, I would probably not enjoy this game or have any desire to finish it. In story mode it's like a nice and relaxing retro walking simulator with an interesting story to explore.
