Your journey begins as all great cRPG tales once did: quietly, within the walls of home, before fate tears everything open.
Forced from the safety of Candlekeep under mysterious circumstances, you’re thrust into a conflict that threatens to ignite the Sword Coast. Your world has always been limited to the fortress library’s ancient halls, where your foster father, Gorion, worked tirelessly to shield you from dangers you never understood.
All of that is about to change, setting you on the path that made Baldur’s Gate a legend.

Excellent old school RPG. A bit difficult but deeply rewarding experience.
No me gustó.
I've really, REALLY wanted to get into this game, because i know it's considered a classic, and probably for a good reason, but to me the combat has aged very poorly, and seems imbalanced to me, melee damage doesn't do ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, so you better be wiser than me and pick a ranger character, or a mage, i suppose. Granted, i don't understand the D&D mechanics, because i know nothing about that stuff, and that's probably part of the reason i can't get into it. However, it's not just this one, i can't really get into these old CRPGs in general, i've tried a few and i just don't like the gameplay. I quite like the characters (especially Imoen and i also like her lockpicking ability), but the combat just ruins the whole experience for me. Maybe i'll try more eventually, and update this review if, by some miracle, i manage to figure out the gameplay someday and enjoy it. I highly doubt it, as i find the mechanics tedious, and hate the fact that you have to be constantly pausing the game to plan out your moves during combat, which, most likely, will miss the target anyway, and kill your party within seconds. I probably just suck tho. Whatever the case, was it too hard to decide between real-time and turn-based combat so they had to make this awkward pausing necessary? It's like some weird hybrid that i don't like at all. I've said it before, but there should be a neutral option for reviews on Steam, would be useful in some cases, like this for example, because firstly i know it's supposedly a legendary game and probably good when you know how to play it or have the patience to practice, and secondly, as stated above, even i would probably like it if it wasn't for the awful and hard to understand combat system. Pick it up if you're still interested in trying it out after reading this, maybe you'll have better luck getting into it than i did. Like i said, i'm generally bad with these old-school PC RPGs, guess i just prefer a more action based gameplay usually, or the turn-based JRPG kind, when it comes to RPGs.
This game is a true LEGEND. Years ago i passed it through for many times and now it will be a great time again.

Still hits. Fun way to toy around with early D&D rules. I find the jank charming (and my Save vs Charm is uh... hang on, so my Wisdom modifier, plus... um, I think it's not good)
