Reviews
+ great mood and visuals + interesting, detailed lore + nice RPG elements + the fragmentation of the campaign into trials + skills add a decent amount of depth to the combat - iffy combat, takes a while to get used to - some monsters like the elementals are outright doinks, but that's more a consequence of the iffy combat Overall, I recommend it, it somehow feels old school to me while also looking very new and modern. Good job! If the combat could get a little better (or I learn how to play better), it would be freaking awesome! I want to at least auto-turn to the enemy when I'm in range and I attack (but maybe I've just become a filthy casual, oh no!)
A challenging 3D platformer with his own identity. Not a big fan of platformers, but this one has something that gets me, maybe is the difficulty, or the skills, or/and the combat. If you like challenging 3D platformers, give it a try, for this low price, has lots of content and its quite fun. Ahh.... A shiny new armor! ... Dead!

The game is HARD + Gameplay + Level up system + Story + Athmosphere + Graphic Style - Some combat mechanics need improvement - Stamina cost for roll - Cannot interrupt attacks EDIT: Another thing on the plus side + the developer is active and responsive to sugestions
I will start by saying that I do not know when I grew so old. Better said, I reckon time is defined by some sort of sarcasm that I do not always understand. Although I cannot always tell when it flies by me with increasing speed, I do observe that my own tolerance for crap has been drastically falling. Especially for video games, one of the primary hobbies that I still keep. What happened to this medium of art, one cannot tell. In a mass of unrecognizable products, with too little uniqueness to show for themselves, the consumer ends being tormented by mediocrity to a point where one prefers to reorient oneself to other means of entertainment. From time to time, especially now that technology has allowed for the expression of unknown talent to wider markets, you stumble upon little gems that remind one why so much energy had been invested in pixels swirling behind a piece of glass or plastic. Azuran Tales, although not without its own faults, minuscule in comparison with much grander titles that I have played this year, makes my heart warm at the sight of a long-passed childhood enjoyed in the company of titles that constantly stared at me with unflinching conviction that one must first suffer before enjoying the fleeting senses of happiness. It is an unforgiving title that will treat you well if one just invests enough for it to consider you worthy. Another great opportunity to support inventive and talented developers that still want games to be what they once were: the opportunity to explore the need for self-improvement. I do recommend it, and I hope that you will enjoy this as much as your time allows.
Nice sidescrolllng dungeon crawler! I have got thru about 5 or 6 levels so far, and I may come to regret saying this, but I don't find it as hard as some of the other reviewers, and I am no Platforming Master. Many platformers, like Cuphead, Hallow Knight or SuperMeatboy are too hard for me. I would call Azuran Tales a Platformer-Lite, but the combat is challenging enough. Some of the bosses are very tough; one in particular is a Mage who kept throwing ranged spells. I tried to dodge them and then get in my whacks when I could, but the spells just kept stacking up. After probably 15 failures, I tried a new tactic and that was go toe to toe with him. He could still throw spells but not as many and after another 10 tries I beat him. That may sound like a lot of deaths but not that crazy for a Souls-like game. In this game there is a save point right before the bosses, who may wipe me out in less than a minute, but I can go right back at em in a few seconds.
Great story, the platforming can be difficult if you don't learn from your mistakes. The bosses are difficult and a good place to learn the controls well as you die repeatably. Expect to die a ton of times. Some areas seem almost impossible to survive through the first try, but you can keep attacking it an wearing it down as you become more skilled. Don't expect an easy game. I am pushing through because I love the story. Also after the about 300th death I think I am getting the hang of it. I just need to stop standing on traps while looking for where to go next. Note: there are a few things that could be done to improve the experience a bit, and I am sure they are working on them.
I bought it 'semi-random' on a discount just to test how 1. older 'unsuported' and Windows only game work on Steam Deck (Proton) 2. how much side-scrolling games fit on deck 3. somethink i can play on train for 6h on battery And i surprised how nice this game is and that its work almost out of box on Deck (need change Resolution from 1200x800 to 1200x720 to walkaround some truncated text edge) Its nice game to play it on Deck when in travel. I recommend it for all that for any reason looking for older games :P
