A cool action scrolling platformer with rougelite elements though u can turn it off, a fun time with beautiful graphics and nice music!
The music, and the art is absolutely stunning. That alone makes me recommend this. As someone with a bit of motor skill issues and not being terribly well-versed in platformers I'd say that the platforming is a bit on the harder side.
very fun, very challenging, and nice graphic. The gameplay not boring too https://youtube.com/live/9_0kXu6Bn8g?feature=share
I had a good time with Atomic Owl. The art style is cool and the graphics look amazing, though the bright neon can feel a little eye-searing after a while. The actual gameplay feels incredibly tight and responsive, and I really appreciated the addition of the "No Rogue Lite" mode so I could play the game as regular side scroller instead of dealing with a repetitive roguelite loop. Overall, it's just a sharp, engaging game that I genuinely liked. Worked great on the Steam Deck. 3/5
The voice acting was missing here and there but humor was good. The story progression feels rewarding and the pacing is excellent it never feels dull or rushed. Performance is surprisingly good, running smoothly even on my potato laptop with Intel UHD 620 graphics. Visually, the retro synth aesthetic is fantastic. It’s not dry or depressing like some other titles, the world feels rich, colorful, and full of life. However, the controls do feel loose and 'floaty' at times and definitely need some polish. Despite that, it’s a great game to just sit back on the couch and relax with on a weekend. I’m currently enjoying Rogue Mode. I generally dislike long grinds or overly difficult combat systems, so I really appreciate the balance here. The enemies are forgiving, but there are still plenty of interesting weapons and powered attacks to experiment with. The real challenge lies in reaching new areas rather than defeating enemies, which gives me major nostalgia for old games I used to play on my CRT TV. It’s not a perfect game, but it is surely an enjoyable one.
Pretty rad.
