As someone who plays a lot of retro platformer games, it sucks that I can't recommend this game in good faith. Its not exactly a BAD game, but its far from a good game. The short version of it is that it feels like there was a lack of care put into it. Basic features are missing such as most option (there's only the option to turn off the TV effect), a credit scroll, controller remapping and game play feature's you'd expect to be there like like jumping down through a platform. There is a terrible lack of consistency; some times cheese will count towards a food goal total and not other times, some levels have an enemy count that is off, double jump sometimes works when you walk off a ledge but rarely, sometimes you're auto fire will stop. The achievements have good references, but most of them are just beating the game (which makes me wonder why there's an enemy and food goal for a level anyways?), and the developers haven't responded to any comments on the forums. It just really looks like they put this product out, and just didn't really care about it. This might be good as time waster for a couple of hours if you get it on sale, but there are other games more worth your money. The music is also good.
Short, but pretty fun platformer. Works great on Steam Deck
Fast and simple 2D action game. Run around collecting coins. Kill enemies. Buy 3 new guns. Great set of achievements, (progression based). Music isnt bad either. It can be finished kinda quick though if you're good at these types of games. I finished the game with 100% achievements in about an hour. Buy on deep sale.
I expected more from this after enjoying Awesome Pea 1 & 2. Bucket Knight has a few bugs and it feels a bit pointless playing it regardless of whether there are bugs or not. Most of the 25 levels are about finding the exit, collecting coins and killing enemies. You can use the money to unlock 3 other weapons which is a nice touch. The graphics are pretty charming and the achievements are mostly completing the levels and buying the weapons. The achievements are a positive. However, the game has some issues that can be fixed somewhat. For starters, all the games I’ve tried by the same developer have some weird issues with detecting the DualShock controller. Now there are still plenty of games that only offer official support for the Xbox controller and that’s fine, but his games usually act weird when enabling steam input. With his other games, it’s usually sorted after reloading the game. Here, the controls stop working and you need to enable and disable steam input a couple of times until the controller decides to work. This repeats every time you exit and open the game. The control layout is also weird, x or a is not used to jump but shoot, circle or b is used to jump and square is used to bring up the menu. His other games had it right but this one is different. Luckily customising the controls with steam works. Then there are issues with high frame rates. The speed of the enemies is incredibly high and shotgun shots don’t go through spikes. I played the majority of the game this way until I got stuck with a section that was impossible to clear. I remembered it might have been the high fps (165 native) and I lowered it to 60fps via nvidia’s control panel, fixing these issues. The levels are pretty bland with heavy asset re-use and the game is not even long enough to justify all the time I’ve wasted with the bugs. According to steam, it took me 1.5 hours to 100% the game including messing around with the controller settings. I’m not sure if the high fps affected the way I perceive the game. It might have been a more positive experience if it was locked at 60 right from the get go. With the way things are, the game is pretty bland. It doesn’t feel like you’re missing out if you don’t play it. Get it only if you’re too curious and only when it’s on sale.
Bucket Knight is a steam videogame featuring snatched dryly level design with compacted metal briefcases entries with development furthermore studies...a battle stone of field rations in right scent modes!!! This game gets a 10/10 a bucket latched console with a twisted arm cannon twirling sensation of fun entertainment love the burrito master
A fun little platformer game. The gameplay is good, the levels are cool, some more challenging than others. Would be cool to have some boss fights here and there. But overall, the game is fun and cool :)
