About
You play as the professional treasure hunter Jerome, who’s recently left the guild, because the other members benefited too much from your hard work and experience. You have finally realized that you are far better off working alone.
The scene takes place in an abandoned ancient dungeon. The word around town says the dungeon is haunted and without any details about the place, no one ever dared to set foot down there. Luckily you have managed to get hold of a map of the place.
After arriving at the ruin, your main goal is now to locate and grab an exceptional artifact. Unfortunately, others share the same goal as you
During gameplay, you are going to make some choices and sacrifices, which affects the outcome of how the game progresses. There’s no right and wrong.
The dungeon holds many clues about the dark past. You will find some interesting objects. Some objects are collectible and some are readable. The crosshair turns green, if you look at objects of interest.
Also, watch out for dangers such as traps, pits and enemies. You will die instantly if you aren’t observant. Luckily there’s several checkpoints across the dungeon.

The jumpscares were great! Voice acting, great! Puzzles weren't difficult! I did get nauseous playing, i'd recommend going into player settings and disabling Torch and Headbob, if you're sensitive to certain POVs.
This game is very enjoyable, It looks beautiful and has amazing visuals as well as some terrifying audio combined with great jumpscares that make it super unnerving. The Puzzles were easy but not so easy that it made it boring. I like that there is so many different areas to explore and multiple possible endings. This game has a lot going for it and I recommend it for anyone looking for a good horror game to play right now.

I liked the game for the atmosphere and graphics. Great voice acting also. However, I definitely found a way to break the game. I did several actions that felt like they should have had some effect and nothing happened. I sat on the throne with the crown and nothing seemed to happen. The ending I got was looking into a sphere. When I did that, I was sent in time and told to put a scepter in a tomb. So I, now having the scepter, put it into a hole in the throne room, and even though I took the scepter back, it was no longer in my inventory to be able to place it into the tomb. So I essentially hard locked myself from continuing there. Overall, it feels like there needs to be a bit more explanation of how to use items or when. I don't want to have the game hold my hand, but I was definitely confused about how to proceed in a lot of situations. Another suggestion would be on the shadow guards. I think there should be some kind of explanation about their aggro distance or maybe a mechanic to turn off your torch or crouch to sneak or something. I was confused about how to handle them. I glitched one of them in the prison so that he didn't show up sometimes also. Anyway. Good game overall. Just needs a few tweaks.
Pros: The voice acting was great in all aspects that I have ran into, the game was a ton of fun and the puzzles were simple yet good. Recommendation on some of the puzzles is there should be a randomization to what the code will be instead of the same code. Would definitely recommend playing again and will probably play more myself here soon. Visually the game was even better than expected and the sounds on point for plenty of tasteful jump scares when needed. Cons: So played through for one of the endings with the crystal ball, it ended up causing an infinite loops of the end game screen. with the new Halloween update had it to where when encountering pumpkin monster caused the game to completely be stuck in menus requiring a forced restart to play again loosing all progress. This happened twice in my play time.
Athemore ia dungeon crawler with a horror element game with great! Puzzles, traps, pits and enemies and some jumpscares bits many different areas to explore and objects of interest Some objects are collectable if you into dungeon crawler or horror games then have a go at this worth a play
If you're looking at the reviews to get an idea if the game's worth playing, I'll give a short review and then a more in-depth one after if you really want to know about the game, feel free to check out my video. Short review - If you enjoy horror games, with jumpscares and an intriguing story then play this game. It is alot of fun, the audio in particular is noteworthy compared to many other horror game's I've played. Just be warned, you'll have some hurtful things said about you by the bad guy (I've only just got over it). Just make sure you take time to make your choices as they really do alter the outcome of the game. Long review - This game builds on the first version from itch.io, adding new content and presumably fixing bugs from the previous version. It was just as much fun to play through the second time as it was the first. The jumpscares really got me, even one's that got me last time. The combination of the graphics and audio really does immerse you and makes you feel like you're in the castle, it's a haunting place. Now this is a balanced review and I do have some thoughts about the game in a constructive sense. My raw reaction can be seen at the end of the below video, but I've also had time to dwell on it and have some thoughts which I'll go through briefly, both good and bad (I want to preface this by saying that any of the below could be player error, so I'm not using them as criticisms because it may just be me being stupid) Using the hint I was able to get across the puzzle to the vault door early on in the game, but the door wouldn't open. Unsure what else I could have done beforehand, as going on any further felt like I was leaving that area well and truly behind. The prison are will give you nightmares. Awful place. Having the woman follow me was very buggy as she kept getting stuck, to the extent that I just abandoned her in the end. Loved the addition of an NPC, but she just could not follow me at all (not sure whether to take it personally) I found it difficult to make a choice when it said that I can't go back on it e.g. the crown can't be collected again, but that's more down to my own indecisiveness than a criticism on the game, I think that may have contributed to me not being able to conclude the game (an example was I didn't place the crown on the table originally, but then sat on the throne, not realising it would disappear) Not sure if it was because of my resolution choice in the graphics settings but I had to place my cursor on a certain part of an item in the inventory in order to read its description (I play on 4k but put the resolution down to 1440) I think if I'd had some sort of clue in one of the letters about the whereabouts of the sceptre I may have gone back looking for it but because of how vast the map is I didn't even know where to start once I got to the throne room without it Like my first playthrough of the game, the latter part, personally, was not as strong as the beginning / middle. As you'll see in my gameplay, I got truly stuck and wasn't able to finish the game. I understand that some players want a challenge, a game that won't hold your hand at all. But my personal experience I wasn't able to ascertain from the notes I collected what I was meant to do with the jars of blood (I found the room just not where to put them). I also found that once I sat on the throne wearing the crown and it disappeared, I was at a loss on what to do next. Maybe that was just my particular ending, stuck in that cursed place forever, so if that's the case then it was my own fault for poor decision-making. Overall, I love this game. For those reading, I've talked to the developer a couple of times now and I can tell he's passionate about it, and I appreciate he took the time to reach out to such a small content creator to ask if I'd give the game a go. Hence I took the time to give my full thoughts on the game. Well done you've made a brilliant game, and whereas the final third of the game may not be to my fancy, the rest of my time playing the game more than made up for it. Check out my video if you want to see someone terrified try and get through this evil castle.
Great idea, mostly solid execution but just too buggy right now. Graphics look great, the sound design makes for a very tense atmosphere. It surprised me that it had voice acting and it's decent too. There are checkpoints before sections that could insta-kill you which I greatly appreciated. There are well-hidden secrets that feel great to find, lots of breakups that make things feel fresh and interesting, and several endings. The jumpscares got me every single time too. Sadly, I've encountered a lot of obvious bugs that soured my experience and I hope they get fixed. Also some of the settings dont seem to do anything after setting them and they revert to their previous state when restarting the game. All in all, the idea is solid, the atmosphere is very tense and the voice acting is well above and beyond what I had expected, I just wish this game had gotten the same amount of care in QA as it did in all the other aforementioned areas. It's such a shame that it didn't, makes me sad when I consider "what could have been". In its current state, I cannot, in good faith, recommend it. Update: the developer has since added patched in fixes for a couple of bugs, added a warning about the checkpoints only saving for the current session, and is working on a full save system and more bug fixes. I hope to return to the game once the save system gets added to re-experience it, find more secrets and hopefully change my review to positive!
Full Disclaimer: I don't really go out of my way to play Horror games, but I thought I'd give Athemore a try since I'm voicing a character in Aces Games' upcoming game, Unaware. Athemore is a great little game that gets the Horror genre ingredients just right. The dungeon crawler style creates a fantastic ominous atmosphere where you wonder what's around the next corner. Adding to that atmosphere is your character's limited field of vision as most of your surroundings are in pitch black while you carry around a flaming torch. There are jump scares, but not too many and they're well spaced, so they aren't predictable. There are puzzles that are quite simple to work out. There's no combat, but your character can die in various ways. You can play through it in a couple of hours, but there are multiple endings, so you have some replay value. The glitches I encountered were very minor and the developer is already in the process of fixing them, so it's hardly worth mentioning. There was nothing even remotely close to game breaking. In fact, one or two proved to be quite amusing! Additionally, at a little over £7, Athemore is hardly going to break the bank, so with the replayability factor, I think it's easily worth the money
