Best pirate game ever. Really. The main story is okay, bit of a convoluted mess, but it's interesting enough. But if you want to play as a pirate, this is your game. The templars and assassins and all that ♥♥♥♥ is just background noise.

A great step in the right direction for ubisoft!
[Still playing. Currently 20 hours in]. I loved the original Assassin's Creed. I didn't like the 2nd one (yeah, I know, I'm an abomination). Later on I played AC Shadows, mostly because I'm crazy about Japan, but I got bored after 60 or so hours. And now this one – AC Black Flag Resynced. No idea why I decided to play it. I'm not even into pirates, and clearly I'm not a huge AC fan. And I LOVE this game. Black Flag is phenomenal. The story is engaging, the characters are well written. It's all a bit serious but mostly really funny. It's a simple but very solid and fun adventure. It's like Monkey Island for adults. I'm so happy I decided to give it a try.

Incredible realism. I jumped off a 300-foot cathedral into a single pile of loose hay and walked away without a scratch. My chiropractor is shaking. The ocean simulation includes foam effects and bubble generation as part of its realistic water rendering, and it is great looking. Ubisoft will find a way to ruin the next one though, even without roach asmon**** tier of reaction engagement slop videos.

Black Flag being one of the most popular titles in the Assassin's Creed Franchise I could not help but grab it and play as it's one of my favorites in the series. I would say that it's visually lovely, the additions to certain cutscenes and questlines were genuinely great and I ended up loving the characters a lot more than when I previously played the original. I believe if you truly were a fan of the original you would absolutely love this.
