Background Blur stworzyło wybitną, mroczną perełkę. Gra oferuje znacznie większą zawartość i eksplorację kolejnych Pustkowi w porównaniu do wersji demonstracyjnej. O ile pierwsze krainy pozwalają na pewną dozę elastyczności, o tyle późniejsze lokacje drastycznie podnoszą poprzeczkę. Finish gry osadzony w morderczym Sercu Studni to bezlitosny test ergonomii Twojej talii. Przeciwnicy biją tam potężnymi obszarowymi salwami, a brak precyzyjnie przemyślanego archetypu postaci natychmiast kończy się porażką. Co zachwyca? Gra posiada kilka unikalnych zakończeń, które zmuszają do głębokiej refleksji nad całą fabularną warstwą i motywacjami postaci. Chęć odkrycia wszystkich ścieżek oraz odblokowania ukrytych osiągnięć diametralnie wydłuża czas spędzony z tytułem. Oprawa wizualna w stylu ponurego, brudnego dark fantasy błyskawicznie wrzuca gracza w gęsty nurt immersji. Przejścia logiczne i czystość kodu gwarantują natychmiastowe ładowanie. Taki autorytet gamedevowy to rzadkość. W cenie zaledwie niecałych 50 złotych Ashes of Morgravia oferuje około 5 godzin niesamowicie angażującej, dopracowanej i unikalnej rozgrywki single-player. To uczciwy, mądry i wciągający bez pamięci tytuł, który udowadnia siłę niszowego gamedevu. Jeśli cenisz merytoryczne wyzwania, głęboką taktyczną analizę przestrzeni i klimatyczne karcianki, kupuj w ciemno! Moja ocena: 9.5/10 (Majstersztyk). Prawdziwa perełka na Steamie.
Decent tactical deckbuilding RPG. The atmosphere is awesome, the graphics give spine shivers and some of the events make the immersion absolute. Well done! Yet I rarely play games for their atmosphere, also here I came for tactical combat and I wasn't disappointed. You are building 2-sided deck and each time you choose how many of each to draw. There are number of mechanics to choose from, you can try to build around several combos and you constantly update your gear to best fit your chosen strategy. The gear comes in sets too. Although there are not that many cards and different items/equipment I think it is just enough to have fun with the game. It is art in itself to make interesting tactical game with so little! If I had to rate this game, I would give 7/10, losing points for following: - too short (finished in 6 hours) - limited content (more of everything would really shine in this game) - the difficulty (it was relatively easy, I just breezed through all the scenarios without failure and a need to reestablish my deck strategy - or lets face it, Im just too genial to pick the right one from the start :D)
A bit of roguelike action, turn based tactical combat and deckbuilding? With two decks? Sounds intriguing! After going through the tutorial and a bit of learning curve, the gameplay feels really smooth. Weaving and comboing cards comes instinctively and I feel that there's room for a lot of depth in creating decks. The art style is beautiful and haunting at the same time. It really gives me chills! Sparsely given scraps of lore build the mysterious and aerie atmosphere of Ashes of Morgravia. I have a lot of questions in my mind and can't wait to find out more about game's world. Great game, give it a go!
I was actually surprised by Ashes of Morgravia. It is not a perfect game, and I can understand some of the complaints in other reviews, but for me the good parts are stronger than the bad ones. The main thing I liked is the combat. It is not just another card game where you only pick attack or block. The hex map, movement cards, and positioning make fights more interesting. You have to think where you stand, what enemies can reach you, and how to use your cards together. The dual deck idea is also cool, because you can control a bit what kind of cards you draw instead of praying to RNG all the time. What I liked even more is the Weave mechanic, which rewards you for using both of those decks. It might be a bit OP right now, which takes me to the next step. Some people say the game is not balanced, and yeah, sometimes you can make a build that becomes very strong. But honestly, for me that was part of the fun. I like when a deckbuilder lets me "break" the game a little - and I admit, sometimes it's a bit more than a little. I saw the devs in the discussion actively talking about the balancing and fixing other issues, so I hope this will be fine-tuned. Anyway, I did not feel like it ruined the experience. About the AI art/music/voice stuff - I get why some people don't like it. But I think the game still has a strong mood and identity. The visuals are dark, weird, and pretty unique. It doesn't look like every other fantasy indie game, and the animated cards/story scenes give it a nice atmosphere. There are also some rough edges. Some translations or lines feel a bit strange, but this feels more like a small indie game that is still growing, not some lazy cash grab. You can see there is an actual idea here. For me, Ashes of Morgravia is easy to recommend if you like tactical deckbuilders and dark fantasy. It needs polish, yes, but it also has much more character than many "cleaner" games. I would rather play something a bit rough but interesting than something perfectly safe and boring.
Quite short, but very well done with excellent game design. Looking forward to seeing what else this dev comes out with.
Disclaimer: Yes AI was used in this game and the developer openly admits this. They are clearly a small team and they used AI to assist in making the game. This is the good way of using AI. They didn't fire anybody to replace them with a computer and as far as I can tell they didn't steal any art but used AI to refine theirs. I might be wrong, I'm no expert but at least in my opinion this isn't slop. A short but fun experience. For the price I'd recommend it. It could use Ascensions similar to Slay the Spire as the experience is relatively short and it's easy to beat the whole game without finishing even a single equipment set. The starting boon is incredibly powerful and it lends itself to bursting down the entire encounter in a single turn. The implementation of the enemy buff Revelation reduces all damage you deal to that enemy to 1 and in certain elite fights give an enemy this so you can't burst the encounter down. This is good but perhaps if Ascensions are implemented they could increase the stats of enemies in some way such as increased hp or even starting them with block so that you can still interact with them instead of just not attack because all damage is reduced to 1. A bit buggy at the moment but still a fun game from a new developer who is clearly just getting their bearings. If they refine the game or do more games in the future I'll be keeping my eye on them.
Enjoyable turn-based game with some clever mechanics. Two decks and combos allow for some explosive interactions early on, without delaying the "fun part" of deck building from a new player. Faith/aoe character does a really nice job evaporating hordes of enemies. Animated cards are cherry on top 🔥 Can recommend 👍🏻
The game can be completed in about three to five hours. On top of that, it's very easy and offers little to no challenge. The AI is simply bad. What is especially frustrating is that you can't keep your progress after making the final choices that determine the ending. You don't receive the rewards or experience (XP) you've earned. For such a short and easy experience, I think the price is simply too high.
