Reviews
*See note in the comments for an update on my stance with the developer about my original review and video linked below: ---- My Original Unedited Review from Oct 27, 2017 ---- This game delivers on graphics and especially on the sound effects which is very well done. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tSRmNCIRv8s&feature=youtu.be Sadly however, "Graphics and sound" is the least important part of my own personal scoring of these games I review on Steam being only worth 10% of my overall score. The Value scored only a 20 out of 40, and the fun scored only a 16 out of 30 which hurts my overall score of this game which was a 60% overall score. The reason the value is so low is that this game can be beat in just over an hour. I got stuck at the final and main puzzle of the game because I thought there was a bug tied to the orbs you can shatter with your weapon but there was two orbs I couldn't shatter for some reason close to the final puzzle. These two orbs are the only two orbs in the whole game that can't be broken and caused me to believe they were tied to the puzzle and this caused me to get stuck for far too long. Still, I beat the game in just over 2 hours, and the game has ZERO replayability. $2 an hour isn't a good value for a game like this in my value scoring ($1 an hour or less typically gets 30+ scores from me) My main gripe with this game isn't even the puzzle mentioned above as it makes sense once you figure it out. The problem with this game is that it has only ONE enemy type.. a skeleton and the skelton has very unintelligent AI making this game a snore fest and more boring to play than it is exciting or fun to play. There is no sense of danger what-so-ever. The collecible green skelton skulls and the orbs you can shatter serve ZERO PURPOSE.... and the end game while being clever just isn't worth the time spent to get there. Some might even say the end game is "cheap" and a let down, though I sorta liked it. Still, a 60% score is honestly a score I feel is a little better than this game deserves overall. In the end, it's just not good, it's not challenging, and it's a lack luster game. I can't recommend it. The good thing is that I can see a lot of talent in this game from the developer and I do believe that if he only puts more effort and thought into "how to make my game FUN" in his next title.. he could make a great game. Remember dev, that good graphics and great sounds alone don't make a game "fun". Focus more on delivering a fun gaming experience for your players and realize that graphics are nice but they are only icing on the cake. The developer clearly has the talent and skill to make a great game and that shows in this title .. and I hope we see him deliver a game with more attention to what's important in the future.
I was not expecting much for the price but was pleasantly surprised . Graphics good , storyline only really made sense at the end , puzzles made you look around for clues , and enemies reasonably good AI . Worth a playthrough , whether I would play again - not for a while . Hope the developer will build on this and do some more .
Spoiler Alert! I have been following this project for a while and coming from a small team you can tell the dedication that went to this game. If you like a surreal story with a twist that leaves you bitter and wanting more then I wholeheartedly recommend you this game,
Facing up to this game is important to understand that it is a walking simulator heavily dependent on the storyline. It is not suppose to be challenging or hardcore. Despite of that it is a well spent hour and worth the price. The graphics are impeccable, the soundtrack is awesome and the voice acting flawless. If you're a Completionist I can see you playing it more than once to finish all the achievements, but if not it will be a one shot game, unless you want to come back to it if the developers decide to add some new stuff, like more achievements, extended storyline, speed runs or whatever they might think of. Final score 8/10
Bom trabalho pessoal. Ps: Pessoal comprem o jogo é barato, vale apena e estão a apoiar pessoal português. WFire PT
Very nice game. I'm not to much of giving reviews to games, but because is a new game I did think of doing it. + Graphics + Story + Enviroment Worth the money. Thank you
Poor. And overpriced for what it is. The self-proclaimed comparisons to skyrim do it no favours. It's an hour long trek through a standard dungeon setting with nothing much interesting happening. You walk corridors, collect skull collectibles, bash skeletons, jump a few platforms, and that's it. Avoid. EDIT: Just noticed that two of the positive reviewers on this game have only 2 reviews on steam - and their other review is for the other game by this developer. Read into that what you will.
Ashes is a great somewhat challenging walking simulator with amazing graphics and enviroment, but the best part is the story. Not gonna spoil it, but it has a good plot. I ended up playing it multiple times trying to speedrun it because it's a very relaxing game and a good way to blow off some steam. I recommend it very much.
Pretty good game. It is a mix of a walking simulator and a first person melee combat game. Fighting is really simple though and you won't fight that much. There are also a few puzzles and platforming sections here and there. The game is just about one hour long, but the price is very fair for that. The only downsides I see are the story and the very slow movement speed of your character and that the stamina empties so quickly.
