Such a fantastic concept, and a real changeup from their other games. Taking inspiration from Master Blaster while giving Cybernator a break. If only it was a little harder, since most enemies die pretty quickly, including bosses. You'll want to play the game on one of the higher difficulties for this reason. It's also very short, arcade length about 1 and a half- 2 hours on your first playthrough. Although it's one of those games that makes you want more, so it has that going for it.

One of the best shmups I've played in a while. Destroying the entire environment reminds me of Battlefield Bad Company 2. Switching ships on the fly is a cool concept. When your flying ability is running low, you can switch to a new ship which has new flying ability. The only gripe is after I completed the game, I wish I could have continued with those power ups to replay from the start. This game has high replay ability value. Truly, a hidden gem of a game, and a throwback to the 1990's Sega Genesis. Highly recommend.

Armored Lab Force: VULVEHICLES is the definition of lighthearted retro fun. The twelve flying tanks are fun to control, and their varied repertoire of special abilities and vastly different styles of shooting can keep each level relatively fresh as you try different loadouts and combinations. Granted, the game itself is not particularly deep, and the storyline/dialogue scenes are mostly just forgettable filler, but the actual gameplay is solid enough where I can more or less recommend VULVEHICLES to anyone looking for a competently made, retro-style shooter. Начинается брифинг миссии (полупиксельные аняму тян общаются между собой. В сюжет даже не вникал, да и не нужен он в принципе в данном продукте) выбираем себе 3 боевых машины (их достаточно много, отличаются друг от друга не только внешне но и автоатаками/активным скилом, кол-вом здоровья, скоростью и временем полета) и идем в достаточно простую геймплейную часть без особых наворотов, убиваем противников, лутаем аптечки/боеприпасы на активный навык, переключаемся между выбранными транспортами (Один хорошо летает, другой ломает землю, у третьего самонаводная атака, в общем у каждого транспорта своя фишка), летаем, убиваем, потом опять брифинг, опять миссия, и так до босса после которого выбираем апдейт и переходим в следующую локу(поменяв наши боевые единицы, чтобы те пошли чиниться), где повторяется тоже-самое. Но, вопреки такой простоте и отсутствия особых наворотов - мне игра понравилась. Очень чилл геймплей(пару раз всего откинулся, из-за этого не открыл какой-то там экстра мод который открывается если пройти всю игру без смертей всех трех тачек разом) после тяжелого рабочего дня самое оно. Но, ценник канеш кусается если без скидки (но по скидке вполне себе нот бед)

One of the more experimental games from this developer—and… a bit weak? Still, considering how entertaining their titles usually are, it manages to land on the positive side where others might not. That said, I’d recommend exploring their other games before diving into this one. It has anime-style story girls in cut-scenes, strange mechanics where you float around and must manage your air-time in a crumbling enviro, and as usual a clear expectation that the player should crank up the difficulty to get the real experience. This time, though, I wasn’t motivated enough to do so. Yes, the fights can get hectic when the enemies actually fight back. On easy mode, they mostly stand around like targets, with only a boss or the occasional mid-tier enemy making an effort to harm you. Each character has two vehicles with different stats for mass and weapons. As the difficulty ramps up, you really need to memorize what each vehicle does, because swapping between them while stationary on the ground is a core mechanic—and once things get tough, there’s no time to stop and think about your choice. All in all, when these mechanics and anime-style cut-scenes come together, the result feels lacking by this developer’s standards, but still decent enough for me to consider it worthwhile. Some ideas work, others don’t, but I respect the attempt. We need more experiments like this, and that alone is something I don’t want to dismiss. But as I said, if you’re new to this dev, don’t start with this title—even if the anime girls insist otherwise.

An entertaining flying tank shmup with a selection of twelve vehicles that have their own unique attack patterns and special moves. Some fast, some slow, with varying toughness. You select three to take into a chapter and use over the course of several missions, able to land your vehicle to recharge flight capability and/or switch vehicles. Damage is persistent, for each of your tanks, so it's important to keep an eye out for health packs in the missions. A really damaged one, you'll want to swap out. Remember to switch back when you see health, later. And if you lose a tank, it's gone for not only that mission, or chapter, but your entire run through the game. Raising the stakes, as these tanks are your "lives" and because you'll want to keep your favorites alive for boss fights. For the characters, the art style leans into anime hard, but the vehicles and enemies look good and suitably like they were built for a no-nonsense military. The controls are good, and there are upgrades between chapters to buff the limited flight duration, that you can choose over more special attack ammo or reduced damage taken. Worth picking up, and absolutely worth at least wishlisting for the next time it appears on sale. Verdict - Nine and a half flying tanks out of twelve. Not such a bad idea, after all!
