Arden's Wake

So I haven't watched it yet, but I expect to enjoy the story, as I really liked Allumette, and this seems to be a lot bigger in scope. I am wondering if there's a way to crank up the sharpness though - it's pretty soft looking. I turned my SteamVR SS up to 160% but it didn't seem to change anything.

I played on the Index, there is no interaction but you can walk about in room scale, allowing you to get up close, The story makes sense but it is very short at a 30 minute play through and the ending is very weak, at no point did i feel any emotion for the characters, If we could of helped Meena with some interaction then it would have made the title more fun. As it stands it's a pleasant story and worth supporting the Devs to do more and make something more epic.

The set pieces and characters are animated well and eye-catching. The story tries for an emotional impact but missed its target with me. Your mileage may vary depending on whether you have experience with someone who has struggled with alcohol abuse. Given these adult themes as well as a scene with physical abuse, I would not recommend this experience for young viewers. There was also an element to the story, a dragon, that didn't make much sense to me but the connection may be more obvious for those better versed in Asian mythology. I also had persistent audio issues in the scenes with the dragon that made it difficult to follow what was being said.

Good story, although short and sad. It is not an interactive "Game", but a virtual Cartoon / Short Story. I do hope the have a second chapter, as the ending left an opening for more.

Just so you know what you are getting, It's like buying a short film. While watching you can walk around the scene. Very immersive, allowing you to connect with the characters in the story. A little bit too short of a story though.

Arden's wake ist eine 30 Min. lange, gut inszenierte VR-Animation. Filmtechnisch perfekt umgesetzt. Kamerafahrten, Beleuchtung und Sound, alles perfekt und als Beispiel, wie man etwas in VR darstellen kann und sollte sicherlich gut. Aber wieso ein Drama und sehr schwere Kost servieren, wenn doch der Animationsfilm eher kindgerecht gestaltet ist. Will nicht so an Tod und Untergang erinnert werden und würde des auch nicht meinen Kindern antun, es sei den dass sie nach dem Thema verlangen. Aber auch da würde ich das Gespräch vorziehen, als einen Film ohne tröstlichen Ausgang vorzusetzen. Doch als Beispiel für die Möglichkeiten in VR etwas Darzustellen, an erwachsene Personen gerichtet, mag des was taugen. Die Umsetzung ist aus meiner Sicht großartig ;-)

First of all, this is not a game. Instead it is a beautifully rendered tale in VR which makes it a lot more interesting. Think of it as a 30 minute short animated film with fabulous voice acting and you won't go far wrong. Well worth a look.
