Idk why I have this game in my library, but thank god, I got it free from a giveaway. Archibald is not a game worth paying for, or playing, due to various reasons. The main objective behind this game is for the great hero, Archibald, to enter the Crystal city and destroy the King and his army. Sounds simple enough, but the play through was terrible. Players are thrown into level 1, expecting to know how Puzzle Platformers work already and try to take down as many black stick figures as you can with the limited no. of arrows they have. Btw, the level doesn’t even announce if you lost, which is when you run out of arrows, so you manually have to click to the menu and select “Restart”. How inconvenient. The hit boxes are also pretty questionable – knocking off even the crown of the enemy counts as a kill[?]. There’s a bug on lvl 10: you are forced to restart upon firing the 3rd arrow, regardless of how or where you aim. Idk how other players manage to get past that level, but I'm just stuck there. The music is a loud mix of rock and such, which seems questionable for a game with a Kingslayer as the hero. Plus, with all the nature BG and landscapes, that makes the BGM sounds for more out of place. It’s too intense, imo. All the game will give you is a mediocre gameplay, poor graphics/animations and limited controls, with no guide or tutorial on how to play for beginners. Plus the huge bug on lvl 10, for me. This looks like some high school project done with Adobe Flash, at best, and there are many other Puzzle physics games like this that are better, plus free as well, online, and on Steam.

Warning: Asset Flip!
Archibald is an asset flip, or what Valve calls a "Fake Game". The "developer" paid for/pirated someone else's Angry Birds example/template/tutorial game, changed the name/reskinned a couple of things, and submitted it to Valve as if it was their own game. azimuth team have a known history of trying to scam people into paying them money for someone else's work, through this account or through closely linked/alt accounts. One example of azimuth team doing this is Dungeons of the dead, which is really the "2D Roguelike Tutorial" asset, written by the actual developers, Unity Technologies. So this is just a really bad ripoff of Angry Birds, asset flipped from Unity by a known Russian asset flip scammer. It goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway, this has no value whatsoever as a real, genuine game for PC gamers. It's a Russian cash grab. Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic 2D art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the lacklustre 2D visuals. The game features somewhat lazy, simplistic 2D graphics, of the type you normally expect to see in low effort Flash/browser games and mobile apps. Considering this is being evaluated as a PC game, having the graphics phoned in like this isn't going to result in a high quality, visually impressive game that PC gamers are used to seeing. The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here. This looks and feels like a mobile app, but I wasn't able to find it on the app stores. Maybe it was removed, maybe it was rejected by Apple and Google (they do have more rigorous quality standards than Valve does for Steam, after all). Regardless, for all intents and purposes Archibald might as well be a mobile app, it has the same limitations and dumbed down qualities. It's impossible to recommend such a game to PC gamers. We don't spend all this money building gaming rigs so we can pretend they're iPhones and play games that might as well be mobile apps. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Archibald is relatively cheap at $1 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend. Because this is the kind of game you can just play for free on mobile phones, it's impossible to recommend anyone should pay money for the same experience on Steam.
