I was really looking forward to a game that could rival other roguelikes such as Risk of Rain 2 or Gunfire reborn, but unfortunately, Arcane Blast does not do its job very well. Upgrades in the game feel very useless, the only upgrades that seem to change anything are the spells, and secondary fire upgrades. Any upgrade to your dash doesn't seem very useful as you almost never see the effects of what your dash attack did, or if it even hit the enemies. The primary fire upgrades show very little to no changes besides changing the color of your shots. While yes, the new element on your primary is applied to enemies, the elemental changes are very small, and with so many enemies surrounding you at all times, it's hard to see what's actually working for you. On the topic of enemies, the game is extremely overwhelming with them. On the first run I played, I didn't know what to expect, the game only gave a very basic movement/attacking tutorial. This is normal in roguelikes, but then I was being swarmed with tons of enemies, taking damage and unable to really react to what was happening because the game is severely lacking in visual effects. The enemies are always either melee focused or ranged. So most of the time you find yourself slowly walking backwards from melee enemies while shooting them, and taking shots you don't see coming from the ranged enemies. I do believe this game has potential, it does keep its art-style consistent, but it really could use an overhaul of the effects. The customizability of your character is limited, but is a welcome addition to the game, especially since you can play with friends! But unfortunately I cannot recommend this game, as it's very unpolished in its current state. Everything feels like it moves too slow, with too little visual/audio feedback to your actions. The upgrades are underwhelming, the gameplay feels slow. Maybe in the future this game will be better, will allow for more varied builds, but in its current state I cannot recommend it.
great game, spell compatibility is interesting, each stage is quick paced, you get to pick variations on which stage you go to for specific reward types, bosses are challenging. and... CATS! need i say more? seriously, try it out and for those of you saying the green ball enemies ruin the game... it is SERIOUSLY a skill issue, and not in a meme way, i SUCK at just about every game out there and i have had NO trouble with them pre-patch, i have yet to try them post-patch but from the description it sounds like i'll get to run circles around them, pointing and laughing
Shadow Wizard Money Gang We love casting SPELLZZZ
It is a very good game for his small price, needs a few adjustments to fix some issues at the launch, but the potential is great ! Good work !
game is pretty promising, albeit a couple of very minor issues overall that are not game breaking or anger inducing, This is a great game i like the concept as of right now. would highly recommend for the price
I never want to give indie games are bad review but this is an exception. This game is awful. It's impossible to tell who's bullets are yours, the games menus barely work, controller support doesn't scroll through menus, clunky movement... I went back to the steam page to check if it was early access, but its not, and hasn't had a single update. It plays like an alpha testing game
Even thou i dont like roguelikes that much, it was fun to play this one
Fun game with a lot of content to explore by sending the mage cat to the new battles over and over again. The fights are challenging, a vast library of distinct skills and spells is here to help beat the infinite hordes of enemies, with each ability having a cool visual fx and impact on the enemies. By the way, you play as a cat, what else to say. Hours of well spent time are guaranteed.
