I think the story has a lot of potential, but this game falls flat on the gameplay itself for me. I find the combat very slow with no method of speeding it up and the lack of multiple perspectives really makes unit placement and movement tedious at best. I also think the keybindings and menu navigation could've been a bit more intuitive. Overall, after only a few hours of playing, I just can't make myself continue any longer.
its ♥♥♥♥
Game freezes up :(
I finished this game, yeah! I like the story. but I wish it is longer. It would be nice if it has random encounter battles.
I 100% the game. I enjoyed it. I got it on sale and think if you are into games like old school final fantasy war of the lions, this game feels similar just not as in depth.
terrible
This game has a tremendous amount of heart, but it is clear that it is early days for the talent involved. The story went in ambitious and surprising directions, but ends abruptly (Even if the ending is good.) The music is solid, but we get very little of it. I enjoyed the builds and battles, but it does feel like FF tactics lite. All in all, I see flaws many complain about, but I enjoyed it and see the potential behind its talent.
Игра зависает при неправильном использовании скиллов. Если скилл используешь на пустой клетке, или неподходящий на персе (любом). А так вроде - ничего. FFT - в чистом виде и на русском)).
Arcadian Atlas is a tactical role-playing game developed by Twin Otter Studios and published by Serenity Forge. Built as a tribute to the strategy RPG classics of previous generations, the game blends turn-based tactical combat, political conflict, and character-driven storytelling into a fantasy adventure that places as much importance on personal relationships as it does on battlefield victories. Rather than focusing solely on large-scale wars and heroic quests, the narrative explores how ambition, loyalty, and love can shape the fate of an entire kingdom. The story takes place in the troubled land of Arcadia, where political instability threatens to tear the realm apart. As rival factions struggle for influence and control, the game follows a cast of interconnected characters whose personal motivations often clash with their duties and allegiances. This emphasis on human drama gives the narrative a more intimate feel than many fantasy strategy games. Relationships evolve over time, alliances are tested, and the consequences of difficult decisions create a sense of tension that carries throughout the campaign. The writing aims to present a mature tale of responsibility and sacrifice, making the world feel more grounded despite its fantasy setting. Combat is built around classic grid-based tactical encounters where positioning, terrain awareness, and party composition are essential for success. Every battle encourages players to think carefully about movement, attack ranges, and skill usage rather than simply overwhelming enemies with raw strength. A wide variety of classes and abilities allows for meaningful customization, giving players the freedom to develop unique strategies. Whether focusing on powerful frontline fighters, supportive specialists, or magic-oriented characters, the progression system provides enough flexibility to reward experimentation and long-term planning. One of the game's most attractive qualities is its visual presentation. The pixel-art style captures the charm of retro role-playing games while still feeling polished and modern. Detailed environments, expressive character portraits, and carefully animated battle sequences help establish a memorable atmosphere. The art direction complements the game's themes perfectly, creating a world that feels nostalgic without appearing outdated. Accompanying the visuals is a strong soundtrack that enhances both emotional story scenes and intense tactical encounters, adding further personality to the experience. The class progression system serves as one of the game's deeper mechanics. Characters are not limited to a single straightforward path, allowing players to tailor their abilities and battlefield roles according to personal preference. Unlocking new skills and discovering effective party combinations becomes a rewarding part of the overall experience. This flexibility increases replay value and gives dedicated players opportunities to refine their strategies throughout the campaign. Despite its strengths, Arcadian Atlas is not without shortcomings. The pacing occasionally slows due to lengthy story segments, which may test the patience of players primarily interested in tactical gameplay. Some battles can feel less memorable than the narrative moments surrounding them, and certain systems lack the level of refinement found in the most celebrated titles of the genre. While the story contains several compelling character arcs, a few plot developments follow familiar fantasy conventions and may not surprise experienced RPG fans. Even with these issues, the game succeeds because of its passion and sincerity. It is clear that the developers set out to create a heartfelt strategy RPG inspired by genre legends while still telling a story of its own. The combination of political intrigue, emotional character relationships, strategic combat, and attractive pixel art gives Arcadian Atlas a distinctive identity that stands out among modern indie tactical RPGs. For players who appreciate story-focused strategy games and enjoy thoughtful turn-based combat, Arcadian Atlas offers a rewarding journey. It may not reach the legendary status of the classics that inspired it, but it delivers a compelling blend of narrative depth and tactical gameplay that will resonate with fans of the genre. Its strongest achievements lie in its world-building, character development, and commitment to creating an emotionally engaging adventure. Rating: 7/10
7 hours in, taking every contract etc., my current conclusion is that: I really like the writing. It seems nuanced and starts out with a few twists - what seems like evident tropes are directly reality checked. Looking forward to enter chapter 2 now :) Downsides: The difficulty on the is rather low. Fights need to be controlled by keyboard rather than mouse, as every misclick with the mouse can mean a stuck fight, while the more precise control with the keyboard lets you doublecheck easily before confirming the move.
