This is fun collection of games with minigames. Seems to have flown under the radar for most people possibly because of the developer publishing themselves. They are grouped into 3 main games which I'll go over. Shmup Skills Test - I was looking forward to this since I liked the earlier shmup skills test. Unfortunately this version doesn't seem much different. Basically seems like a slightly remixed version of that game with improved graphics, a wider screen and 4 player support. You play a random series of shmup minigames and at the end it gives you a gamer age depending on your performance. You can play individual minigames after playing them in arcade mode first. There are leaderboards for the arcade mode and minigames with replays available to watch. A lot of fun but wish more minigames were added. Acton game skills test - like the shmup skills test but here are action games with power ranger looking guys. Simple and silly games. Some are pretty fun some are just button mashing. Could be a lot of fun multilayer and some games are good for high score competition single player. Similar to the shmups skill test I feel like more could have been done here. Combatzeal - The last main game and closer to a full shmup though presented like the other minigames. There are 5 levels and in arcade mode you choose 3 and play for combined high score. You can affect the other players if you play multiplayer. After playing a level you unlock it similar to the minigames. Levels seem fun but you only get one life making it feel like the shmup minigames. Theres a level with a gradius style power up bar but unfortunately most of the power ups affect the enemies instead of you. I'm a bit mixed on this but overall it's a fun game I can see myself coming back to for leaderboard competition. Would love to try multiplayer as it seems really designed for that. I wish it had AI opponents at least to simulate the experience. Feels a bit overpriced since there isn't a traditional full game like Trizeal or Exzeal here. The older shmup skills test is a lot cheaper than this so might be a better value. Still, I don't regret getting it and I'm glad it was ported to PC. There's not much out there like it.
It's a really overlooked game, It is basically the WarioWare of Steam Controls and Gui work well in todays standards of 1080p, needing to bind more than 1 ps4 & xbone controller or etc you can always rebind and tweak. It's pretty good to play with friends on a couch or alone as it offers variety and a bunch of skill based games. and 3 game-modes. The "Shmups Skill Test" within this has more mini games within it and is more updated within the Gui and looks even better, I would personally buy this instead of the shmups skill test, if ya had the choice
Quirky competitive fun for you and your friends. Test your action game skills with Action Game Skill Test, then try out the Shmup Skills Test to see who shmups better. Duke it out with some CombatZeal to see who can rack up the most points. It can be good as a party game, although I have yet to get anyone to play this with me. Someday...
essentially the "warioware of steam" as many have said before, also ignore the standard shmups skills test and get this one instead as the version found here is a expanded edition devs should also eventually update this to also have pengo! from the original collection from arcade and 360, i mean switch is getting it, why cant PC have the same?
Very pleased with my purchase. I suck at the shmup section, but it is still fun despite this. According to this game, my gamer age is elderly.
Personally i find Triangle service games generic. They don´t do nothing bad but they are not great either, wich is still a problem and normaly specially considering that are better alternatives out there at the same price. This game is the exception to the rule and by far my favorite of the company. I find it good and quite unique. It is a compilation of 3 arcade games, and each one has a collection of minigames in the vein of mario ware (altought completely different. The minigames are brief, and creative. therefore they have replayability and are not boring because they are played in short burst and avoid repetition. The arcade love game puts in a control of a character with silly and fun tasks, mashing buttons, running against gravity, beat cans, etc. The shmup skill test (my fave) as the name suggest has a compilation of silly shmups minigames to supossoly test your skills in that genre, Trust me you won´t improve the skills but you will have tons of fun. there are many shmups with missions modes that do that job better, but probably they are not that fun. Finally we have another shmup game, that is the weakest off the 3 , but stills packs some fun. I strongly recommend this game, altough not a full price , probably with 40% discount . It is fun but not that amazing, and considering also the age of the game the price should be lower
This is an amazing package
Arcade Love is a collection of short minigames. Your performance of these minigames is graded with a gaming age (the lower the age, the better your performance). I'm not great at the action game skill test minigames. I find them to be the jankiest minigames in the collection. They also tend to have the most awkward controls (they're still fun minigames, but they are my personal least favourite part of the collection). Shmup Skill Test isn't too different here than the other version of the game which is also on Steam if you're interested in trying it. Something worth noting is that some minigames are new while others from the standalone version of this game have been removed entirely. Last but not least, we have Combat Zeal, another collection of shmup minigames. Unlike with some of the minigames from shmup skill test or action game skill test, these minigames generally don't require button mashing. If you like shmups, you might be interested in Arcade Love since most of the minigames here are of the shmup variety. Buy this on sale.
Those Super Sentai-like characters look cool. I can already imagine a game, or a show called Arcade Sentai Ge-Senger
