i dont know what basement dwellers fancode this is but its not worth it even for its 50% price
Every enemy formation keeps you on your toes, rewarding quick reactions and precise movement.
Dude, I put 2 dollars worth of quarters in this thing and still haven't beaten it. The microtransactions in this during the Arcade days were INSANE.. Good thing I can now play it at home as much as I want, FOREVER.
I love galaga but absolutely hate this version, you couldn't add fast shoot???? Like really why couldn't you just add that feature??? I DON"T CARE ABOUT THE TRADITIONAL ARCADE EXPERIENCE! Make a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ update to the game and add those ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ features that should have been there from the very beginning, and why is a 650 kb ROM 750 mb???? This version sucks, go download the ROM illegally instead and play it on MAME like normal person. I cannot stress how much I hate this version as it feels bloated and incomplete, I don't want arcade cabinet art on the sides of my screen that is dumb and a complete waste of space, it's either fast shoot of ♥♥♥♥ YOU
It's OK. Not good, not bad, but OK. The controls are done through the keyboard which feels a bit clunky. If it will allow a game controller, I have yet to see it in any of the settings. I'm not extremely impressed with it, but I'm not heinously disappointed either. I would say it's worth $2.00 if you catch it on a Steam sale. If it could be played with a controller, I would be absolutely tickled ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ about it. It's still a fun little nostalgia trip. Catch it on sale and enjoy.
I had to turn off v-sync with NVIDIA control panel for the game to perform smoother, but past that it's a good arcade port with a surprising amount of options + a leaderboard. I hope they create an official way to play Galaga '88, for that's the best one. Until then, hoisten the sails.
An arcade classic! Might be a bit biased, but personally my favorite arcade game of all time. Playing on keyboard an mouse feels a bit clunky compared to how it's supposed to be played (i.e. joystick and fire button), but using a controller is a close second. As an achievement hunter, I like that the milestones actually provide a bit of a challenge to work towards other than just beating my own high scores. Nostalgia aside, I still consider this one a 10/10, would highly recommend if you are into arcade games.
