After 100%-ing the game, I can say that I definitely enjoyed it. It goes all in on peaceful vibes with a very soothing art and music style. I'm also a big fan of the different wacky fish in the game. I definitely wasn't expecting solid snake to show up. The game focuses a bit TOO much on style, however, and not enough on the game play. The length of the game leaves a bit to be desired as well. It has no official ending to the beginning story of rebuilding the town after a big storm. For only 4-5 hours of content needed to 100% it (the last bit of which was me waiting around for the "Married to the sea" achievement), I'm not sure I can recommend getting this game at the full $14.99 price. If the game is on sale, though, and you're looking for a chill fishing game, I can certainly recommend grabbing it. I believe that more people should play it.
At this writing I don't have a ton of time in the game, but I'm surprised there isn't more feedback and interest. It's similar to Dredge, but a more wholesome world without too much Lovecraftian spookiness--just a chill-out game with a compact open world. (Who knows, it may open up more when I reach some milestone, but even if it doesn't, it's big enough to sink some time into.) The dithered graphics (which I'm familiar with from the Apple II and Commodore 64, a retro technique using patterns of dots to simulate a broader color/shading palette, redundant with modern GPUs but a fun stylistic choice--e.g., Obra Dinn) are a tiny bit offputting, in my opinion--but only a tiny bit. The fishing minigame is entertaining without being annoying, as minigames go, and I think I'll be spending a good bit more time in this game. I hope it gets a wider audience. If my opinion changes, for better or worse, I'll try to remember to post an update. Misc. notes: Would like a louder engine sound... for some reason I find boat engines comforting. Xinput (Xbox) controller works great.
A lovely chill little game. The sailing is very smooth and make the exploration of the world feel very relaxing
Super fun and relaxing game. Was very easy to just chill out and listen to the music while I was fishing, really enjoyable
Cute little fishing game with unique fishing mechanics and lots of character. --- I bought it 50% off ($4.99) and it took me about 4 hours to 100% the game. For the price, I think it was worth it. Good variety of fish split up into different biomes and time zones, but I think there were too many "global" spawning fish and not enough that were biome-dependent. If you read this before playing the game, my advice is don't bother with exploring too far out until you have max speed boat. Even if you're perfect at the fishing minigame not every fish will be a catch, and that's okay. A few bugs here and there, and the storyline doesn't get an ending- not that it was important to the game. TL:DR A relatively short and abundantly charming fishing game
Enjoyable and relaxing game with lovely asthetics and atmosphere. Exactly what you want from a fishing game :) Deep mechanics and alot to explore outside of the short time that I played. Very enjoyable and can see myself coming back to this one :)
This game is fun and good to relax with. I really enjoyed my time with it. It has about 4 hours of content and once you get into a groove of catching fish that time can fly by.
