The idea of this game is good. It's a Lemmings type of puzzle game where you have to save a number of fish each level using a variety of tools. There are several modes of play: adventure, free and survival. In the adventure mode you play through each level in sequence, in the free mode you can replay any level you've already finished and use extra tools which you buy using coins you find in each level. In the survival mode perma death is introduced. You start with 100 fish, but any fish that get's killed means you'll have less fish at the start of the next level. I have a number of problems with this game. First of all it's not been optimized for mouse based play. Instead of giving you icons on screen to open up the menu or fastforward the game you have to use the keyboard. My second problem is that there are often things happening at several parts of a level, since water tends to collect whenever there is a bottle neck and many levels have several at different parts of the levels. And you can't keep track of what is happening because you cannot pause the game, nor can you divide the screen into several parts (like in commandos) and there is also no mini map. So I often have to frantically move the camera up and down, left and right in order to keep track of different parts of the level, opening and closing snails (which act like faucets) or waiting for the right moment to use a specific tool. In similar games like Lemmings you often get enough tools to try out different solutions. But in this game, you get the bare minimum of tools necessary to finish a level. And while I've sometimes managed to find a creative solution, most of the times it's clear that there is one specific solution you have to follow. Which strips many levels of any creativity that makes these type of games intereseting. You could argue that you can return to these levels in free mode and buy extra tools so you can try new solutions. But since the amount of money is limited, spending too much money on one level will make it impossible to experiment with other levels. My final problem is the wonky physics. The water doesn't always behave in a consistent way so a solution that works once might not work (the same way) the second time. All these little problems together make for a game that is fun in concept and looks pretty, but which is frustrating to play in practice.
Good game!
SUPER!!
Very Fun game
Aqua Panic! is a physics-driven puzzle game that blends frantic problem-solving with an endearingly lighthearted presentation. Developed and published by Eko Software, it places players in the role of an unlikely aquatic savior, tasked with rescuing schools of stranded fish after a massive storm has scattered them into dangerous inland environments. Rather than focusing on reflex-heavy action, the game challenges players to think creatively under pressure, guiding vulnerable creatures back to safety by manipulating terrain, objects, and environmental hazards in clever ways. The core gameplay revolves around real-time puzzle scenarios that emphasize planning, experimentation, and understanding how different elements interact. Each level presents a contained environment filled with obstacles, predators, and potential pathways, and players are given a limited set of tools to influence the outcome. These tools range from explosives that clear terrain, to plants that redirect fish movement, to devices that freeze water or eliminate threats. The challenge lies in using these tools efficiently, as poor placement or timing can quickly send fish into peril. Early levels serve as gentle introductions, but the game steadily layers complexity, forcing players to anticipate chain reactions and manage multiple variables at once. What makes Aqua Panic! particularly engaging is how it balances logic with chaos. Fish move continuously and react dynamically to environmental changes, meaning that even well-planned strategies can require quick adjustments. This creates a satisfying tension between deliberate puzzle-solving and reactive decision-making. Success often comes after several attempts, as players refine their understanding of a level’s layout and the subtle behaviors of both fish and enemies. The game rarely hands out solutions outright, instead encouraging learning through observation and trial, which makes eventual success feel genuinely earned. Beyond the main progression, the game offers multiple modes that add variety and replay value. The primary adventure mode guides players through a large collection of handcrafted stages that gradually escalate in difficulty and introduce new mechanics. Additional modes allow players to revisit levels with more freedom, experimenting with different strategies or attempting to optimize their solutions. A survival-oriented mode shifts the focus toward endurance, challenging players to preserve as many fish as possible across consecutive scenarios, which reframes familiar mechanics into a more demanding test of consistency and foresight. Visually, Aqua Panic! adopts a colorful, cartoon-inspired style that keeps the tone light even when situations become hectic. Characters and environments are easy to read at a glance, an essential quality for a game that often demands rapid assessment of unfolding events. Animations are simple but expressive, helping convey the urgency of the fish and the danger posed by predators. The sound design complements this approach with playful audio cues and upbeat music that reinforce the game’s whimsical identity without distracting from the puzzles themselves. Overall, Aqua Panic! is a thoughtfully designed puzzle game that rewards patience, creativity, and adaptability. Its charm lies not just in its cute aquatic theme, but in the way it transforms rescue scenarios into layered, physics-based challenges that stay engaging across dozens of levels. While the difficulty curve can become demanding and may test the patience of more casual players, those who enjoy methodical problem-solving and experimenting with systems will find a deeply satisfying experience. It stands as a strong example of how simple mechanics, when carefully combined, can create a puzzle game that remains compelling long after the initial novelty wears off. Rating: 7/10
