About
Approximately Up is your best chance to experience spaceflight in whatever you and your crew (singleplayer or co-op multiplayer with up to 4 players) can bolt together! Build epic spaceships or barely flying trashcans — it’s entirely up to you. Control your creation from a first-person view right from the deck of your ship. Complete challenging objectives, hunt achievements, face the dangers of space, and collect new components to expand your current spacecraft — or build hundreds of new ones. One is never enough!
Everything begins with a single piece of frame and grows into a massive, complex ship built from thousands of components. Create automated systems, experiment with different input controllers, sensors, and meters — connect them to whatever you need, and let the magic (or chaos) happen! Once it looks ready (or not), hit launch and see what happens!

Experimental power sources that need to be delivered to a station on another planet — causing unexpected power outages mid-flight? Some strange energy crystal charging up like a ticking time bomb? Or maybe it’s just a massive, ridiculously heavy submarine this time? Can your spaceship handle that?

Is the planet covered in oceans? What’s hiding beneath that thick atmosphere? Can you see the surface through those massive clouds? Everything’s waiting for you to find out! Explore 15 unique planets, each with its own look, feel, and dynamic soundtrack that changes in real time as you explore and make new discoveries!

Who forgot to connect that cable? Who mounted the thruster backward? Who forgot the solar panels? Or the door-opening button? Is the radar working? How about the batteries? Enjoy the hilarious chaos in co-op multiplayer with up to 4 players — and find out once and for all... WHOSE FAULT WAS IT?!

You start on Earth and slowly explore a system of 15 planets, each with its own size, gravity, atmosphere, temperature, and challenges that make every world feel different. Most planets have one or more Planet Stations, which work as checkpoints and garages where you can build ships and start new missions. When you land on a station, it unlocks permanently and becomes a new place you can launch from. To reach these planets, you build your own modular spaceships and experiment with different parts - electric engines, fuel engines, mixed fuels, solar panels, heat-resistant frames, and more. By completing missions like delivering components between planets, you earn new ship parts that let you create better and more advanced designs. All flights are fully first-person from inside your craft, and because distances are huge, your ship design really matters - some trips will take only minutes, while others can turn into long journeys if your ship is weak. The whole game is about exploring planets, upgrading your ships, unlocking new stations, and trying to make it to your destination without crashing.

Game is overall good, but building is ♥♥♥♥ without ability to invert objects.
Kinda the spaceflight game I didn't know I wanted after not really liking any of them. Best played with at least 1 friend so they can help suffer with you as you build the worst put together flying brick. I can't wait to make better bricks later

This game is spectacular. I've played Space Engineers, Besiege, Stormworks, Kerbal Space Program, and a bunch of similar games. THIS game has hooked me the hardest. Something about the simplicity of the controls, radars, screens and the surrounding world just SCRATCHES AN ITCH! This game has that BIG WORLD feeling like no other. You genuinely feel like you are a small fish in a giant ocean, with limitless opportunities to explore. You could build a rudimentary ship with basic thrusters and rely on your skills that day to land and survive. OR you could build a fully automated auto-pilot system with self stabilization, auto hover, position hold, and a fancy "FLIP ME 180 DEGREES" button. Please comment and reach out if you have any questions I am extremely passionate about this game. It is so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ good. thank you.
It is literally stormworks but space. It differs in a lot of small ways; but to anyone wanting an summary - that's it. Pros: - Fun in multiplayer. You can collab on building the ship because it's stormworks style but first person. Crewing the ship is fun, especially if you have separate stations with different instrumentation. - Campaign seems fun, you start with limited components and unlock more from missions. - Physics is a ♥♥♥♥♥. Cons: - Tutorial is very very basic. As in, it'll explain specific gameplay and controls. There's little-to-no technical tutorials. - Not much resources online about how things work (almost all in YT video format), so it relies on pre-existing technical knowledge. If you played enough stormworks, you'll have no issues beyond learning the new special components. This'll become less an issue as time goes on. - Physics is a ♥♥♥♥♥! So far, its a LOT of fun and I highly recommend it.
This game is leveraging the Ikea effect - you will always love what you build yourself. Honestly, there isn't much content in terms of actual dev made things. The dev have basically provided two things: 1. A bunch of different planets with their own style and characteristics with missions. 2. A good physics engine with a bunch of blocks that enable to creation of simply spaceships that you must build youself. You will soon realise that a majority of gameplay involves around making your ship better, but you are limited by the not so complex systems, meaning you will get bored by the engineering systems in 2 hours. However, it is interesting if you wanna customise and improve the looks of your spaceship. So buy if you want a spaceship builder without simulated mechanical complexity. Don't buy if you want Stationeers but with ships (which is what I kinda expected :((( ).
This is such a great game, but nothing is for everybody. The kind of folks who need to have their hand held and can't take time to glance at the manual need not apply. The whole game revolves around creating a ship capable of interplanetary travel to zoom around finding crates of parts for your ship and delivering special cargo. There is no story, so if you need that, just keep looking. This game is kind of like a first-person, coop Kerbal Space Program. It's all trial and error. It is definitely not mindless friend slop. Test everything and save often. You don't want to play this one with your ADD-addled lay-about friends. This one is for the analytical people who can appreciate delayed gratification and enjoy making things work. Some of the negative reviews are clearly from people who did no front-end research and expected a different game. It's not as complicated as Space Engineers, but still provides a good challenge. There is already a ton of creativity on display in the workshop. Well worth the price if you can get into this kind of thing.
This game sure scratches a certain itch, It doesn't hold your hand and the objectives are pretty straight forward -Pros- -You can make your ship as basic or as complex as you want, A Floating box of pure madness, or something that makes your friends go "Woah" -Building wise, its pretty fun playing solo, With friends can be hilarious if someone messes up and you go to test your ships - The Scenery of the game is actually pretty decent but we have only been to the first 3 planets. Those are the main things i enjoy of the game -Cons- My only gripe about this game thus far is during space travel.. you only have to travel and land on a station once, then you can always go to the planet which is fine.. The thing is currently, There is nothing to do during space travel.. Its amazing seeing your designs make it to far to reach places, but other than the pilot, there's nothing to do while you are traveling, Granted sometimes things may break.. but if you don't build a ship specifically with stations for your pals.. they'll get bored. My buddies and i built a tic tac toe board with lights and played drawing games on a whiteboard to pass time and not just doom scroll when traveling LOL For people that love space sims, building ships, testing limits of the game with your ships, this game is for you and your pals. I've been having a blast. Space travel can be fun, but definitely could have more in my opinion so id give it a 8/10
first time i have played a game like this and i really tried giving it a chance with 112hrs and 55% complete. good game if you like a space sim where every mission is a riddle with no direction. the first few plantets arent bad until you reach the first water plant where you are told to make a submarine to not really use it till way later in the game and even then its minimal. thats the beginning of when the game shifts to having no respect for the players time. mission descriptions are even more off a riddle forcing you to spend countless hours trying to progress in countless different ways that the game starts to feel like a joke aimed at the player. crates and mission objectives clip through ships and planets. objectives misaligned making it almost impossible to put a lid on a tree. lots of client issues with desync and frame rate. if you try to leave a bug report in the discord you are 80% just gonna get the hostile replys from the community instead of help from the dev or mods. even just for questions since the whole game pathing is confusing you find yourself navigating to websites to try and find answers and discord is one to avoid this time. might recommend in the future but where it stands right now, unless you are already a die hard for this type game its a hard sell
It was fun figuring everything out, learning how to build a ship, and completing the first mission. There is a large learning curve building anything even simple modifications to the tutorial ship. Where we were put off is after the 10-15 minute flight over to the second box the battery bank controlling the flight controls ran out since we didn't realize they weren't connected to the rest of the batteries. Instead of letting you make modifications mid mission we were forced all the way back to HQ. We foresaw this being a game breaking mechanic and stopped playing. Fun concept and a fun game but spending 30 minutes on a mission only to find a small mistake in your design and being forced back to the beginning doesn't sound enjoyable.
I cannot recommend the game in this state, which pains me to say. First off, this game is so cool...I want to dive into it some more but it has gaps in teaching people how the game actually functions, the tutorial is so bare bones. The first tutorial is a funny little scene of you trying to (hopelessly, if it's your first game) get a pre-built ship under control as you fall to your doom. Fade to black. You then get a nice little intro about how to place frames by placing 3 frames in pre-designated spots. Your hotbar is empty and nothing tells you where to go or how to the inventory system works. You immediately dive into wiring a few internal components using data/power cables. No instruction of why you're doing this, what you're connecting, what it's doing.. Then you move on to piloting the ship to a another location with another unintuitive flight system that jokingly says it's ok to crash into it, a bit of self-awareness on the dev's part. There were several quitting points that I pushed past. Once you get to the headquarters, congratulations! You're fully trained on the game! If you want a refresher on how the building controls work? Don't bother, there's no manual for it. You can't replay the tutorial without creating a new save file and starting the game over. I then got my game bugged to where I couldn't move. That was the final quitting point.
