Pretty, charming, and clearly made with the same love and wanderlust that defines Outer Wilds' beautiful worlds. Full of potential and pretty little scenes- and for just a few bucks, it's supporting an indie dev making something beautiful. No fancy mechanics, just a pretty little walking simulator ready to make some gorgeous screenshots. Go explore.
Edit 2: Now fully working on Steam Deck after previous update and with latest update I can now play with Achievements. This game is superb! Edit 1: After recent update bug fixed and now specifies number of photos for each run. So developer is proactive. just needs achievements. Original review: (Played on Steam Deck). Was lucky to be gifted this from the developer directly. Encountered a bug where you get stuck after trying to leave system immediately after exiting planet. Please fix that bug and allow one to save progress. I also noticed I got kicked out my play session after accumulating 20 photos. Went back and lost all progress . Overall I enjoyed this game. Music was nice. Could do with achievements.
Really cool, but not a lot to do currently.
I feel like I'm the target audience for this game. I can get overwhelmed by systems and mechanics in games these days, since I don't have as much time to play videogames as I used to, and generally, I just want to wind down after work these days. Can be perfectly combined with an audiobook or a podcast. I'll structure the review into sections about what I enjoyed and then I'll list my suggestions/criticisms. During my couple of hours I spent so far, I encountered no bugs or soft-locks or anything that would prevent me from enjoying the game. The speed of travel is just right and the systems that can be explored are vast. Even though the graphics are simple, there are some genuinely pretty planets. The game fulfills its promise. I think it's ideal for people who are looking for a relaxing experience. I think that even if you are not a huge fan of space exploration, you can have a good time here if your main goal is to just chill. Even as a member of the target audience for this game, I think there is room for improvement. I would appreciate a bit more variety when it comes to the celestial bodies that we can encounter in the game. I think comets specifically would be an amazing addition. Maybe also if some planets could have tiny moons circling around them, or maybe even meteor clusters scattered around the systems. I feel like those additions would improve the sense of exploration and the variety without taking away from the simplicity of the gameplay and the purpose that this game has. I would also like a way to save progress in the game. All in all, an easy recommendation from me, if you are looking for a calm game full of endless space exploration. I'll definitely keep exploring.
As a space fanatic. This game is on point and quite calming to play. Love it
Saw a post pertaining to the Outer Wilds inspo for this game and I can see it! It's cute! Exploring the cool presumable procedurally generated systems is a cozy concept! I had this game in my wishlist for a while and finally got to play it! However, as much as I'd like to love this game... there's just a small big issue that I have. And it's the experience itself. Let me elaborate in a few key points and suggestions: 1) Lack of Sound: This is one of the major things that makes enjoying the game difficult. The lack of responsive sound design. It's the little things, like step sounds, thruster sounds, water splash, breathing, taking a picture, all that! The bare minimum is just adding sound effects that play when I interact with the world and do things. Those would make the experience so much more better and cozy. Diagetic sounds. 2) Lack of Animation: To add to the lack of sound, there is also barely animation. Like putting down the flag, or taking a picture. Adding a camera overlay when holding down the camera button and it snapping when let go. Like the previous point, it's the little things, just a little camera shake. Just simple feedback animations can go a long way. 3) I'm just a floating camera: The previous points all add up and the lack of any metaphysical player or ship just makes it not immersive. And while that isn't necessarily a bad thing, it just feel like I'm just playing some universe sandbox rather than a "Space Tourist" exploring planetary systems. If it's not obvious, I am not complaining about the goal or lack of content since it actually is a pretty cool game and concept. I like seeing the planets and all the cool photos I can take. It's just that these little nuances all add up to make the experience not that great and those are really the bare minimum for me on what makes games enjoyable. I feel like with a few updates to fix these UX problems to even the bare minimum would go so much! With that, I'm looking forward to future updates, seeing the roadmap!
I haven't put much time into it yet, but I will. This is probably one of the most relaxing games I've played. The music is nice, good for floating around the stars. There is some planet variety (I even found and landed on a comet) - I am not sure if there would be enough to keep me exploring for some of the larger achievements. This will be one of those games that I come to every so often to take a break from survival, or base building, or puzzles. It is relaxation more than anything.
for a game that just released its pretty cool. ill be happy to see how it develops, it definitely has potential.
Space Tourist is a game where you're... A Space Tourist With plenty sectors, each containing many solar systems and multiple planets per star, I assure that you will not run out of opportunities to make photos The planets have various features including, but not limited to: rings, oceans, mountains, trees and sometimes even moons The game is relatively cheap and in my opinion pretty decent Overall a nice wallpaper producer!
Reminds me of eastshade a bit, nice
