About
Apocalypse Express is an action management Roguelike in which the player conducts, upgrades and repairs different parts of the train through endless waves of enemies in a post-apocalyptic setting. Departing the darkness of their lifelong shelter, the player decides to embark on a journey through the wasteland looking to fulfill the dream of seeing the outside world with their own eyes, charting out a map around the few remaining memories of the past world.
Be prepared for some nail-biting tension as you try to keep your train running while balancing putting out fires, collecting resources and dispatching enemies. You won't always be able to take care of every part of the Train so be ready to think fast and smart as things will not go as planned.
Modules are the foundation of your Build. Fill up your Wagons with various modules each giving you unique abilities. There are Modules for every type of Wastelander. Go full offense by building up an arsenal of cannons, rocket launchers and turrets, obliterating everything in your path. Take the more defensive approach and create an indestructible machine built around disabling enemies, deflecting shots and extinguishing fires, keeping your train healthy and running even through the harshest conditions. Or experiment with other combinations, perhaps go with a speedy train that gets you to your destination faster or even create a completely autonomous system that does all the work for you. Your slots are limited, so choose wisely.
Once you've assembled your perfect combination of modules it's time to make them shine. Each module can be upgraded in dozens of interesting ways, either by making them more powerful or introducing completely new abilities.
Relics are the final piece of the puzzle, you can only have a few of them but relics often bring powerful and impactful effects that can be the backbone of some amazing builds! Mix and match them to find the best combination to create the perfect Train.

Good Game Love the Co-Op option It bring me back to the old Flash Game Era Thank to it i can again play alone as 2 people on my PC
Super fun game! Absolutely lovin it. As you can see from my play time I might consider myself an enjoyer of this game. I could spend a day writing about everything awesome in the game. It's a really unique rougelike-inspired game. HOWEVER I think the 1.0 release is very rushed. There are a lot missing things that make the game feel distinctly early access still. I've been playing and following this game since it's early days on early access, and it has come so far. Don't get me wrong, the developers are clearly very good at what they do, they just need time to cook. I just don't think the current V1.0 has the complete feature-set needed to call it 1.0, sorry. Big things it's missing right now are: - The runs end after the last boss is defeated but the map indicates there's more to play. And honestly an infinite ever increasing difficulty after completing the story parts and bosses is absolutely needed. It feels REALLY bad to have built up an amazing train only to not have time to actually use that train. There's not actually that many levels between the start and last boss of a run, so this is a huge missing piece and probably the biggest thing that makes it feel early access still. - A few of the train car weapons are not actually useful. They end up being completely dead weight. The core principle of this game is resource management, with your time being the most valuable and hardest resource to manage. You have to manage the whole train by yourself, and the main gun is completely manual, so the rotary gun and mortar both requiring constant player operation like the main cannon is not actually possible to do effectively. They're a huge waste of time and ammunition in almost every situation. The chances of having both the right goldilocks zone scenario to need the rotary gun or mortar and actually have them installed with a decent upgrade is a unicorn scenario that I have not ever had happen once in 128 hours. The bullet deflector is in a similar useless camp because the enemy bullet speed is high relative to the close distance they shoot from and that the deflection pulse radiates from the main cannon exclusively makes it impossible to make good use of during the course of real gameplay. It's simply better to just not take that module, even if it's the only one available. It's better to take the scrap cost than the deflector module. - Ammunition feast or famine is a real tough issue. If you run out of ammo and there's no upcoming shops, you're almost entirely SOL. Ammo crates do come periodically, but it's likely enough that you'll be attacked by enemies that slow down the train or drain the fuel and there's no recourse to stop them if you don't have bullets and you can't get more. This could be more manageable if the player could enable/disable the couple of guns that shoot automatically so they can conserve bullets. Like the Needler module shoots in random directions every second or so and can absolutely waste your ammo to nothing if you don't have a factory on board to produce more. Those are the real main issues I have with the game calling itself 1.0. These are the clearly unfinished elements of the game. But outside of those, it's really an awesome game and definitely worth buying and playing! Great job and looking forward to future updates!
I love this game and how hard it can be at times. This is the best action train game on steam
Not sure why or how but on my system I finished the tutorial and then proceeded doing the first area the wastes and lost on a hard section almost to the end of this first area, and my whole system crashed full on BSOD. I could not tell you for the life of me what led up to this.
Очень весело
Простенький, но довольно затягивающий рогалик с хорошей музыкой и немножко необычной задумкой. Жаль нет полноценного коопа.
I went in kind of expecting this to be Convoy 2.0, given the clear overlap down to the UI style. In reality it's Convoy blended back with original FTL, with the soul of both souls slightly removed and the rest filled with annoying micromanagement. Just like Convoy, the fights are unnecessarily drawn out. Some things don't quite make sense such as boss scaling, the ammo mechanic, actual train HP being irrelevant, and other soft-death conditions. I'm also really not a fan of the amount of "physical" micromanage which makes it artificially stressful. Now, with all that being said, there are still very few games in that alley and it quite captures the vibe. It's also not too expensive. I'd encourage you to grab it and do one or two runs to give it a try and refund it if you don't like it.
This game has so much potential but it is let down by balancing so bad. It is not just numbers on damage and such either. I have gone so long with no extra modules being an option on the trail. Meanwhile then you get to the boss and feel completely trashed, even though you were doing hard runs and getting legendary bonuses. My last run I had several of these. I scored on a random chance. I had other great ones like repair 25 percent next to you, extra explosion damage, several gun upgrades in terms of a reflector and firing speed. I was running hard choices the entire trail. Get to the first boss and in a couple seconds of the start, literally 3-5 seconds, six or seven drones are hitting different areas and taking no damage from the claw's auto damage field I built and hitting them with the gun is tedious at best, especially with massive reload times where you can do little else. It just did not feel good to go through so much hard only to instantly, I want to stress it was about max 5 seconds, have the entire train on fire. And again, you see the picture with many guns, yet in this hard run, I got one, one extra module choice. There were no others. That is something that is always happening as well. Add in your usual, you'll get bad choices or some that do not fit and it becomes not a hard game, but a tedious, frustrating one where you doing well does not add up, like it does in most RL builders.
Very much reminds me and has vibes of Convoy (another great game) but mixed with a lot more active management. It's like convoy mixed with catasronauts and it works well. The first hour I was a bit iffy and the difficulty is a bit steep until but once I got past that, I'm really enjoying it
