About
As governor, how you build and govern will shape your story, your citizens’ destiny, and your provinces’ future. Will you cooperate with other governors or prove your military prowess by challenging your rivals? The cost of peace is yours to decide.
Build your provinces with unmatched detail, flexibility, and scale. Watch kids chase dogs through the streets or thousands cheer in the arena. Build upon the land that you see, from the beautiful heartland of Latium to the mysterious Celtic wetlands of Albion… where no civilized Roman wants to be.
Design the cities of your dreams at the peak of the Roman Empire as you balance your people's needs with the relentless demands of the emperor. Forge alliances across the empire or showcase your might with strategic land battles and naval combat. You may even defy the emperor himself – but not without consequences.
Every decision you make as governor matters. Will you honor local Celtic culture or enforce Roman traditions? Grow your provinces through diplomacy and commerce or conquer through military strength. Your choices will shape not only the future of your citizens and your provinces, but your own story as well.

Ein weiteres tolles Anno Spiel!!!
I regrettably can't recommend buying this game. Sure, it's an Anno game, but the base game is quite lacking with decorations and stuff. I've played every Anno game up until this one, and it just doesn't fulfill the same way that the other games did. Hopefully the upcoming DLCs will fix some of this, but it's a shame that you would need to buy a DLC on top of an already expensive game. Stamps were an amazing addition to Anno 1800, they're nowhere to be seen in 117. One of the nice changes is that you can start a game, build up and add an AI governor later on to compete with. Another nice thing is that you sort of have a story line interaction with these governors. I was doing some quests here and there for one of the governors, then I had to help him save his family but it would come at a cost of reputation with the emperor, so I ditched them in the water and they drowned. The governor then proceeded to hate me and eventually declare war on me. Later on the emperor demanded we make peace and now he seems to have completely forgotten about his family haha. The need for land invasion forces is also quite nice. It forces you to set up strategic defenses more inland.
i've essentially been a super fan of anno series all my life, however pax Romana is so frustrating and buggy that I end up alt+f4 as soon as the game opens. In its current state, its just overall frustrating, where having even 1 single negative workforce makes all your productions go to nothing. Not to mention a system for fire and rebellion that makes no sense and are incredibly punishing. I do not recommend this. Go play 1800, or 1404.
I don't understand people. Of course if Ubisoft Connect is a dealbreaker for you, then dont buy it, thats valid... but how can anyone criticize it for being too simple, lacking content, worse than anno 1800 ???? It a game with 1 DLC (right now Q2 2026) Anno 1800 had YEARS too fix its problems and add content, it has dozen of DLC's. Anno 117 has objectively more content than Vanilla RELEASE Anno 1800. Personally I love the style, the time period and the input/control improvement, UI is too focused on consoles yes, but that not something youll think about after like the third time you open the game. AND BTW, if everybody continues to play Anno 1800 and refuses to play newer titles with less release content, then no company will continue too develop new games, since obviously they wont make money from them, if nobody plays them for the first 3 years .... EDIT: The fact that I bought the gold edition with the Y1 pass and I have to buy 2 out of the 3 released extensions within year 1, almost made me change my review to negative, but since its only cosmetic stuff I will not yet do that. Still that is a disgusting thing by ubisoft, my pity to the developer, who probably didnt make that decision and will now get the hate/bad reviews/ etc
