It's quite confusing at first, but it's gradually getting easier until the end. The game run smoothly till the end, no bug detected.
Finding the animals and guiding it to the destination is quite a chore.
Ankora: Lost Days, developed and published by Chibig, is a gentle yet surprisingly layered survival adventure that places exploration, learning, and self-sufficiency at the center of its design. Set on the vibrant and untamed planet of Ankora, the game tells the story of Mûn, a young Junior Ranger whose spacecraft crashes far from civilization. What follows is not a frantic fight for survival, but a slow-burning journey of adaptation, curiosity, and growth, where the planet itself becomes both teacher and obstacle. The gameplay is built around a strong sense of discovery. Ankora is presented as a large, interconnected world divided into distinct biomes, each with its own climate conditions, resources, and dangers. From grassy plains and forests to deserts, frozen mountains, and volcanic regions, every area asks the player to approach it differently. Temperature, weather, and time of day all influence survival, meaning preparation matters just as much as exploration. Venturing out unprepared can lead to exhaustion or danger, while careful planning rewards players with smoother progress and safer journeys. Crafting and terraforming are the backbone of progression. Rather than unlocking skills through traditional leveling menus, Ankora: Lost Days encourages learning by doing. Using tools improves proficiency, which in turn unlocks new recipes and abilities. Players collect materials, craft tools, build workstations, and reshape the terrain to overcome environmental challenges. The ability to dig, raise land, and construct bridges transforms navigation into a spatial puzzle, where understanding the terrain is just as important as knowing where to go. This system gives a strong sense of agency, as the world gradually becomes more navigable through the player’s direct effort. Unlike many open-world survival games, movement in Ankora: Lost Days is deliberately grounded. The absence of a traditional jump mechanic forces players to think creatively about how to traverse the environment. Elevation differences, cliffs, and water gaps must be solved through construction and terrain manipulation rather than simple platforming. While this can feel restrictive at first, it reinforces the game’s theme of problem-solving through preparation and craftsmanship, making progress feel earned rather than automatic. Narratively, the game unfolds quietly. Mûn’s initial goal is to recover the scattered parts of her ship, but the story gradually expands as she encounters the Ank, the planet’s native inhabitants. These creatures have their own routines, problems, and culture, and assisting them opens up new quests and insights into the world’s history. Storytelling is subtle and environmental, relying more on context and exploration than dramatic cutscenes. While dialogue is relatively minimal and sometimes uneven, the narrative’s strength lies in its sense of place and gradual emotional build rather than overt drama. Combat exists but remains secondary to exploration and survival. Encounters with hostile creatures are simple and functional, serving more as environmental hazards than as deep combat challenges. The mechanics can feel basic, especially early on, and combat rarely evolves into a core focus. This design choice reinforces the game’s identity as an adventure about coexistence with nature rather than domination over it, though players expecting robust action mechanics may find this aspect underdeveloped. Visually, Ankora: Lost Days is warm and inviting. Its art style leans toward storybook and animated-film influences, with bright colors, soft shapes, and expressive character designs. The planet feels alive and welcoming even when it poses danger, striking a balance between beauty and survival tension. The soundtrack complements this tone with calm, melodic tracks that enhance exploration and reflection rather than urgency or fear. The pacing of the game is intentionally slow, and this can be both a strength and a weakness. Players who enjoy methodical progression, experimentation, and world-building will find the experience deeply rewarding. Those looking for faster traversal, frequent action, or constant narrative beats may feel the game drags at times. Tasks such as gathering materials or reshaping terrain can become repetitive, especially during longer play sessions, but for many players this repetition reinforces the meditative, cozy survival atmosphere. Overall, Ankora: Lost Days stands out as a thoughtful and heartfelt survival adventure that prioritizes curiosity, craftsmanship, and environmental interaction over combat or spectacle. Its systems encourage patience and creativity, rewarding players who take the time to understand the world and work with it rather than against it. While it has some rough edges in navigation and combat, its charm, sense of freedom, and distinctive approach to survival make it a memorable experience for players who appreciate slow-paced exploration and gentle storytelling. Rating: 7/10
A truly enjoyable game that I highly recommend; it’s very relaxing and makes simplicity its strong point. Exploration, interacting and managing various NPCs and survival elements make it the perfect game to play late at night. I loved the charm of the art style and the delightful soundtrack. Highly recommended <3
