American Patriots: Boston Tea Party, developed and published by Cult Software, is a compact turn-based strategy game that draws inspiration from the American Revolutionary War while maintaining an accessible, board game–like structure. Rather than attempting to recreate history with granular simulation or sprawling campaign systems, the game focuses on distilled tactical engagements set against the backdrop of colonial conflict. It places players in command of Patriot forces facing off against British troops in a series of scenario-based battles centered around the events and spirit of the Boston Tea Party era. The core gameplay revolves around hex-based tactical movement and combat. Units are maneuvered across illustrated battlefields where terrain plays a meaningful role in strategy. Rivers restrict movement and create natural defensive lines, towns provide defensive bonuses, and certain structures allow for healing or strategic positioning. Each turn requires thoughtful placement of infantry and artillery units, with players weighing risks and anticipating enemy counter-moves. Combat outcomes are influenced by positioning, adjacency, and terrain advantages rather than by complex stat trees or layered resource systems. This makes the game approachable while still rewarding tactical foresight. The design philosophy leans toward what might be described as “beer-and-pretzels” strategy—quick to learn, straightforward to play, and focused on immediate tactical decision-making rather than long-term economic planning. The historical theme provides flavor and context, but strict adherence to historical accuracy is not the central goal. Instead, the game uses the American Revolution as a thematic framework for balanced and engaging skirmishes. The objective-driven scenarios typically revolve around capturing key points or defeating enemy forces, maintaining clear win conditions that keep each battle concise. Visually, the game adopts a hand-drawn, 2D aesthetic reminiscent of classic tabletop wargames. The maps are clean and readable, with unit icons clearly distinguished to prevent confusion during tactical play. This minimalist presentation emphasizes clarity over spectacle. There are no elaborate animations or cinematic effects, but the simple visual style ensures that players can focus on strategy without distraction. The soundtrack and sound effects are understated, providing atmospheric background support without overwhelming the experience. Difficulty settings add replay value, offering multiple challenge levels ranging from casual to more punishing tactical scenarios. This scaling allows newcomers to experiment with the mechanics comfortably while giving experienced players a reason to refine their strategies. The inclusion of a local hot-seat multiplayer mode further enhances replayability. Two players can share a single device, taking turns to command opposing forces, which reinforces the board game–inspired feel and makes it well-suited for shared play sessions. The overall scope of American Patriots: Boston Tea Party is modest. It does not present a sprawling campaign or deep customization systems. Instead, it provides a focused collection of scenarios designed to deliver short, engaging tactical experiences. This contained design keeps the pacing brisk and prevents the mechanics from becoming overcomplicated. However, players seeking deeply layered strategy systems, extensive historical campaigns, or advanced AI behavior may find the experience somewhat limited in depth. Ultimately, American Patriots: Boston Tea Party succeeds as an accessible turn-based tactics title grounded in a recognizable historical theme. Its strengths lie in its clarity, simplicity, and faithful adaptation of board game–style strategy into a digital format. While it may not rival larger-scale war simulations in complexity or scope, it offers a satisfying tactical experience for players who enjoy concise, scenario-driven battles set against the backdrop of Revolutionary America. Rating: 7/10

Para jugar unas partidas esta nice
real fancy for a mini game
So.
Fun little game it's more akin to a 3 piece chess game than a historical strategic study, but hey it's a buck and that's what I was expecting and there's some interesting twists if you glance at the rules. Well worth it! the two negative reviews crack me up, one guy complains about not losing enough and the other guy only plays 6 minutes and writes a review about the evils of the actual Revolutionary War! Trashing Patriots and Americans in general along the way. Seriously dude what's next, a dissertation on the crimes of Imperialistic rule in your review of Stratego. Sheesh, get a life.
Очень круто и аутентично, при этом стоит копейки
Simple strategy board game but it works. Pick up on sale and don't expect too much out of it.
