A short story-driven interactive game with an emotional story about two families. You play with multiple characters who will show you their point of view of the story and by the end of the game those pieces will connect together and you'll realize who's actually who. We first have a detective named James Reed, who's been investigating a suicide incident of a woman whose husband disappeared from the scene. You'll also learn about James's private life and how he is struggling. There are many choices that will change the course of the story and dialogue such as if you want the detective to ask a girl out or not. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1521931149 I enjoyed the story so much, especially how it concluded. The timeline was a little bit messy and the scenes been jumping from the past to the future without any time stamp or title made me confused at first. But as I said everything will be clear by the end. I liked how the areas, houses, and the environment are not just like any other RPG maker games. The items the characters picked up disappeared and the way they sit and stand looks way better than other games I've played. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1521931278 Music is the first thing that made me say wow about this game. The soundtracks choices were excellent as it blended well with the game's atmosphere and story. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1508268303 Pros: +Beautiful graphics. +Touching story. +Excellent choice of soundtracks. +Multiple endings. +Dialogue changes depend on choices. +Steam achievements. Cons: -The story jumps from past to present without a notifying the player of that. -Sometimes when the characters speak you don't know who is speaking, It would have been easier if they show the face of the speaking character only. I recommend this short touching story to people who enjoy reading and play interactive stories or visual novels. There are no puzzles or anything you do here other than choosing what to say or do. This game reminds me so much of To The Moon if you enjoyed that one you'll definitely enjoy this game.
Gone Fireflies is another game sent my way by a friend (and was much appreciated). The description for the game, "A short story-driven experience about love, loss, and the choices we make" is reasonably apt. I would say that is exactly what this game is. It's a narrative RPG Maker title that tells a very dark tale that parents especially will probably not love. It is however seemingly another in a long line of games focused on catharsis. As far as the quality of the game itself, Gone Fireflies is on the upper echelon of its RPG Maker contemporaries. It is a completely linear experience with a couple of decision to be made, but mostly, the game is simply of the walk around and solve minor puzzles and click through story frames variety. Oddly, I was able to play this while also napping lol. I would wake up, advance the story a bit, fall asleep, wake up, advance the story a bit, rinse and repeat for about an hour and a half. So....your personal time and attention commitment to this game will be pretty lite overall. I imagine you could cut my playtime in half if not also napping while playing this. That said, the story was very easy to follow, even in a groggy state. Speaking of the story, didn't love it. It was reasonably well written and there weren't any lapses there, but I just don't love games where your child dies, and don't really understand the need to throw that at gamers. I do understand the overall message of accepting loss and tragedy and continuing with your life, but I wish the authors would take a different approach in conveying loss. Anyway, although I object to this story as an emotional conveyance, the game itself was well done and reasonably well written, so I'm giving this 4/10, but with the caveat that if you aren't as affected by such topic matter, or if you are and feel like you need a game like this, it could probably be bumped up a bit. Based on my own experience with this game however, it is getting a marginal thumbs down.
Genre
Ein kurzes Story Driven Adventure
Story
An advice to you. Do not play the game during a sad period of your life, it's the sort of game you can only play when you're at peace with yourself and not when you're stressed out or depressed. The game in itself is in between RPG and VN, while there are different choices, they only give you different answers but don't change the story.

Gone Fireflies is a short game filled with heavy emotions, because the story it tells is sad, cruel and not fair… as our life can be. We are following two young families at the beginning of their relationships. At some point their lives intertwine and this brief meeting will have a great impact in their future lives. It's a RPG Maker game with Visual novel aspects, it looks really nice and you can tell that it was made with care. They use varied graphics assets and each screen is pretty detailed (in terms of items and decorations). There is not much of a gameplay to talk about, you get put in a scene where you can explore a little and then make the one thing which will progress the story - be prepared to be thrown in time as the current situation has deep roots in the past and we are going to learn about it. Story is linear and you are basically a passive observer. You can make a few choices throughout the game, but they are mostly cosmetic and reflect only your approach towards the characters. I have played two times to see if the story can end in some other way, sadly not, the tragic outcome will always be the same. Only thing that can change is how our hero will cope with it all… and if he can see a light at the end of a tunnel or not.
The story line was good..funny in some parts but a bit sad overall. The story was a little bit all over the place but in the end it all came together. Not sure what else to say about it. I will recommend this game and give it a 9/10.
Another gem I found randomly a couple of months back on sale for .99 cents. It's a short story driven game that I personally adored for it's own little charm. The game has different endings based on your choices, so it has replayability value. The game does transitions past to present kind of thing, which I feel is done really well. You play two different families during transitions, so you get to play as different characters and see their stories while the stories also wind up playing together. As of right now this is the only game by this dev, and honestly I'm hoping there's a possibility there will be more gems like this.
