What you have in your bag?
It's another game published by Gamehouse which is known for these cute and addictive casual games. This time there are some changes and in my opinion they're for the best. Gameplay has not changed a lot. Same old principle is present in Amber's Airline. This time you work at the airport and your dream is to become a stewardess. The game is very simple but pretty well written for such a small mobile-like game(is this on mobile too?). You start your career at the airport gates. You check passengers, check their bag content, help people to put stuff into their bags, search people at the gate and so on. Some actions require to play a 3 second mini-game. You just do the simplified version of actions you'd do in the airport. There are of course other levels with slightly different jobs so it won't be boring and repetitive since locations, story and your job are constantly changing. You get a cut-scene before and after each level where the story is told. There also are challenges you need to keep an eye for while playing. The biggest change comes with a completely new graphics engine. The game is now in 3D and it's for the best. The game still retains the old art-style and looks extremely cute only now the graphics a more clear, it feels like a proper PC game, not a low res mobile port. Gameplay feels smoother too. There's less waiting, people request your assistance instantly so no more waiting fro 10 seconds until people make up their minds. There's not a lot of bad things I could think of. Maybe sometimes the mouse click doesn't register if you do everything very quickly after the past action. Other than that i'm enjoying this improved version. Graphics are really pretty, this new engine works wonderfully and performs very well. Sadly there are some issues with resolution. I'm on ultrawide monitor. While gameplay scenes seems acceptable (only black borders on both sides) the map is displayed in fullscreen which leads to some portions of the map cut off. There's no real windowed mode for some reason. If I put the game in windowed mode it displays the game at the same resolution in a window which leads to even bigger part of the screen being cut off. Just let me play it in 1080p window please. This game reminds me of one of those TV movies women watch at Sundays. It's a good casual game with pretty graphics and interesting story. Worth getting for the fans of the franchise. Pros

Good graphics
Fun gameplay
Interesting story
Good variety
Smooth gameplay
Cons

Can't choose a resolution
Sometimes clicks do not register
Verdict: 76/100
Follow my curator page for more

"It hurts but you still try - You are stronger when you fly" Amber's Airline is one of Gamehouse series with a cute main character named Amber, a young woman who dreams of becoming an airline attendant, she worked hard and her mother sacrificed everything for her to take the tests to achieve her dream, alas everything doesn't go as what Amber wishes, the rocky road brings back hidden memories about her past, something Amber still can't overcome. I enjoyed most of the story, the romance part was a bit too much for me as I didn't like the approaches, I always prefer the characters to decide not to be unsure of what they need and want. Amber started off as a strong-willed woman, but in the mid of the story, her personality started to change a lot. The artwork of the cutscenes is very beautifully made, I liked the static photos, especially the ones from Amber's memories. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1920364365 I loved the stages where we can play with different characters. All the characters are likable, especially Karen, she is my favorite. I also liked the journal where you have to achieve certain things to unlock the pages, this is a smart and fun idea, and the decoration of the journal is cute as well. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1916749341 In this game the mini-games are fun, and whenever you activate them everything pauses. However one of the mini-games was very difficult to control on PC with a mouse as you need to rotate the indicator twice in a circular motion, which was very stressful as it doesn't always work out well. Other than that the mini-games were nicely made, especially the one in the screenshot. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1916749696 Pros: +Beautiful graphics. +Good story. +Likable Characters. +Good character development. +Journal. +Beautiful soundtracks. +Steam achievements. Cons: - Sound glitches in some of the levels, and the music stops playing. - Needs custom mouse cursor (Sometimes you can't see the default small system cursor when the stage is busy) - No steam cloud. The music of this game is nice, I loved the credits song 'Stronger when you fly' I do recommend it if you enjoy this genre, as I've mentioned before, in the mid of the game things change a little but by the end of it, it got better. It took me almost 15 hours to finish the whole game with the bonus chapters + full achievements.
Terrific Story So Far, but the Gameplay is Terrible!!
Let me start out by saying that I never thought I would write a bad review for a GameHouse game, but they really let me down with this one. The story is great so far, as it always is in their Original Stories games, but the gameplay is horrible. As anyone who has played a time management game knows, you have to be able to click fast, often, and have those clicks count. This game has to be a mobile port, and is poorly designed for PC users. The mouse clicks are so off and so hard to hit that it makes this game frustrating to say the least. Usually you have to click more than once for it to take, or in the mini-games where you have to drag objects, it's laggy and usually it doesn't take the first time, so it's aggravating to earn 3 stars. I have played the GameHouse series games (the Delicious Emily, Fabulous Angela, etc) since they started making them, and they are always my go-to and favorite time management games, but this one is just no fun to play with a mouse. It might be great on mobile, but if GameHouse keeps hiring devs that do such a bad job porting these games, I might just buy them on mobile from now on, and hope that my fingers have better luck than my mouse.
Amber's Airlines 1: High Hopes (Dash-TM) Based upon Steam version of game, which was provided for Curator review. Options include separate sliders for Music, SFX and Quality, Tips on/off, and 17 Languages to choose from. There is a "How to" section for new players, but no choice of difficulty. Story: Amber works the terminal at the airport, and dreams of being an airline attendant. Traveling all over the world, meeting new people, making exciting memories... To do all of this she'll have to pass her exams and outshine the other applicants, but her past is dragging her down, and there is only one opening. You'll have to help her overcome her fears when a crash landing puts her will to the test. Will she be ready when it really matters, or will the trauma from her past keep her from succeeding? https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1918631139 We have a Journal, of sorts. Each time you earn an achievement, you'll unlock a new diary entry that adds a smidgen to the story. The first two locations are good, although they'll be more interesting for people who love airports ;) Once we get towards the end of the second location, the story really takes off, and I got engrossed in the tale. Gameplay: I really love the GameHouse Original Stories series of games, and this one is no exception. Amber's Airlines was Old Skull Games' first foray into Snuggford, and it has both its highs and lows. Before I get to that, let me give you the basic gameplay. This is a dash-style time management game, where your goal is to make as much money as possible before the day ends. Doing so means making your customers happy, as indicated by the hearts over their heads. More hearts = more money. The game does a good job of teaching you the basics (if you choose to play the tutorial), but one thing they assume that you know is that people with gold stars will not lose any happiness! You can leave them sitting at the register for as long as you want, and they'll stay 100% happy. This is very important, because there's a bonus that increases for each customer you ring out in succession. So how do you get gold stars? I'm glad you asked! The secret is to serve customers as quickly as possible. On the plus side, you start out with three tray slots, but on the down side, that's your limit -- three. There are 6 areas with 10 levels each, and the early levels for each location will only have a few items. Use this to your advantage, and keep one or two items on your tray at all times for even quicker service. The station-swapping mechanic gives you a nice point bonus, and although it's not possible very often, it's really a great addition to the dash-TM genre. It's not all about taking things to people, though, there are also Mini-games that can pop up when you go to assist someone. Things like directing people where to go, getting them checked in, helping people get their seat belts adjusted properly, x-raying suitcases and more! The quick-service meter above each customer's head pauses during pop-up mini-games, but not during the mini-actions such as the one pictured below: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1918633412 Stars, Gems and Mice, oh my! The hearts that I mentioned above is how the scoring is done, but there are two other things that are being tracked on each level:

Mice - Carl the mouse seems to be following Amber around, for he pops up on every scene! Catch him for a nice point bonus!
Daily goals - There's one special goal per day (usually story-related), which is tracked in the upper right corner of the screen. Accomplish the day's goal to earn a gem for the day.
So what do we do with all of this money and gems that we're earning? Buy upgrades, of course! Each location has upgrades that will help you manage your customers more easily, so more money will make your job a little easier! The gems are used to buy customizations for your diary. Each "upgrade" has three design options, so you're not just stuck with one look. You can earn additional gems by doing the bonus levels, which unlock every three to four story levels. Instead of earning money you earn gems. Carl will not appear on the bonus levels, except for the one that features him ;) The Steam achievements are a welcome addition, and I have a few left to do, since I stopped playing the bonus chapters once things got interesting! lol~ Sights and Sounds: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1918629268 The graphics are very nice, and even stunningly beautiful at times. I love the range of emotion that they've added to the characters' actions, and the cutscenes are very well-done. There are no voice-overs, per usual, but the sound effects and background music are nicely-done. Verdict: I did mention that there are highs and lows, and the low would be the beginning of the game; specifically the very first level. It's slow... and when I say slow, I mean excruciating slow. I think it was a poor design choice to have a 2-minute level that has you doing almost nothing. The early gameplay is pretty zen, but as the story perks up, so does the gameplay. It never got super-hard, but it does require more skill as you progress. My verdict is that this is a solid game that starts off slowly, and gets really interesting as you progress. I think this will be especially fun for those who love airports and airplanes as well. Good story, good gameplay, nice graphics and likeable characters come together to make a fun game for most of the family (there are nights out drinking, so maybe not for the little ones.) I was happy with how they ended the game, both giving us closure and something to look forward to in the next installment. Recommended! EDIT for those who didn't read the wall of text above: I've logged 11 hours in the game, and have yet to complete most of the bonus levels, so there's a lot of gameplay left!
Amber's Airline - High Hopes is a new addition to the collection of GameHouse time-management titles. It tells a story of Amber Hope, a girl with a big dream to become a flight attendant but with a great fear of water that comes from her childhood. I would like to start my review by saying that I have not played the game at the initial release in Steam, so I judge it as it is after some patches. I think I need to mention this while some negative reviews tell us about problems with gameplay - mouse clicks, to be precise. However, it seems that it was the problem before the abovementioned patches were applied, while I never had any problems with the game myself. Anyway, let us finally look at what this game can offer and then decide if it is worth your time or not. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1520813646
The Story
Amber is a new character and she introduces a brand-new type of job (for GameHouse line of titles, at least) – a flight attendant. She is a strong-willed young woman, determined and hardworking, that plays the drums in her free time or chats with her pet fish Sushi. Amber has always wanted to fly in the sky and help passengers to the best of her abilities, but a psychological trauma from her childhood stands in the way. However, Amber also has several good friends who are ready to help her overcome any obstacle. Even if these are some scary exams. Even though Amber fails to become a flight attendant at first, she continues trying and never gives up. No wonder that in the end she finally makes her dream come true and becomes a member of the stuff on a prestigious aircraft. But is it a happy ending? So far, I have completed two chapters out of six and I really enjoyed each episode. There is just enough comedy and drama, and the characters are likeable. Amber is a great protagonist – she has an interesting hobby, a good personality and enough spirit to stay optimistic. (And the jokes are not as cheesy as the ones in The Love Boat)
The Gameplay
The gameplay is quite common for time-management titles: you have to help Amber deal with customers as fast as possible. Sometimes you will need to assist them in finding the right gate, sometimes they will ask to check their luggage, and sometimes a future passenger will want to buy a souvenir. Later in the game, you will also help with security-check and other common preflight procedures. But the best part comes when you finally get to the actual plane. There are a lot of mini-games during each stage (there are 60 of them) and they change according to the place you are working at. Each one is nicely animated and many of them will require attention and quick reflexes. There are also challenges outside the main stages and they will bring you a lot of crystals. Why do you even need those shiny things? Well, there are some nice decorations for Amber’s diary that can be purchased with crystals only. Wait, what diary? Ah, I have forgotten to tell you – as usual, there are achievements in the game (as well as in Steam) that will allow you to open new pages in the little diary where Amber keeps her thoughts and secrets. You can access it any time between the stages to read more about the situation. A neat feature, right? You should also keep in mind that each stage, except for challenges, has a hidden mouse –a traditional mascot of all GameHouse games. You need to catch it to gain additional points and to unlock some achievements. And what is the best part? The golden hearts! If you do everything perfectly and fast enough, your customers’ hearts will become gold, which means that from now one they will never become annoyed. So just line them up in front of the checkout tablet and get additional points for serving them at the same time. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1520812194
The Good and the Bad
Now, when we have already had a look at the gameplay, I would like to talk about graphics and music. First, I really liked the video parts, as well as animations in general. Everything runs smoothly and I did not notice any bugs or freezes. A funny fact: for some reason, these animated scenes reminded me of Sims 2. I cannot even explain why, to be honest, but it seems that some facial expressions and movements gave me this idea. And I am quite keen on such references while I have always liked all Sims games and this gives me a nice feeling of nostalgia. Also, characters in Amber’s Airline move more than in any other game. These are not just some static figures but people who look quite alive. I absolutely loved it! The music is nice. There are various tracks including the main song, which I liked to my own surprise – usually I am quite indifferent to music in Game House titles. All in all, each and every sound works well with different situations and complements them instead of distracting you from the gameplay. What else…oh, I cannot but mention that you will meet Emily at some point! It is really nice that developers include characters from other titles. They all live in the same town, Snuggford, and you really feel it. Speaking about difficulty, I think that Old Skull Games managed to introduce just the right amount of challenge. Compared to Dr. Cares, it is way easier to find mice and characters’ movement look more logical while you do not have to run around different objects to get to the place you need. Sometimes you will have to manage a lot of people simultaneously, but if you remember where each necessary object is, it will be just a piece of cake. To sum up, I would place Amber's Airline in the same category as Delicious and Fabulous in how smooth its gameplay is. Now come my two complaints: first, sometimes if you click a customer and then start a mini-game right way before serving him or her, the game will forget that you selected this very customer and you will have to click this person again. It is not a big deal but sometimes this might disturb your flow of actions. Second, there is no great variety in challenges. In the first chapter, you will have to hunt mice, complete as many mini-games as possible, play as some other character, and deal with broken equipment. And then you will do the same things in the second chapter. I was hoping for something new. (Also, why did Adrian have the same voice as Amber in the end of the challenge?) I do not have anything else to complain about so far, but if I encounter any problems, I will update my review. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1520808354
In the end
I think that Amber's Airline - High Hopes gave a great start to the new story. I enjoyed playing the game and Amber is a very good character that I can sympathize. The gameplay was both entertaining and easy-to-learn while challenging enough. I am glad that GameHouse has solved the initial issues so that the game is quite playable now. If you are looking for a good time-management game that also offers an engaging story and lots of bright levels, then Amber's Airline - High Hopes is for you. I wish you a lot of fun! P.S. I really liked the Find-The-Mouse challenge. I do not know why, but it was so pleasing to click on these little guys again and again to get a high score. I just played about 2 hours of this game and I LOVE IT. I have been a follower of Gamehouse for a very long time and I have to say this is one of their best games yet. They look of the game is amazing. The graphics are so full and clean. The game runs smoothy and is very easy to pick up. If you enjoyed any of the previous games, you will love this one. And if you are looking into the franchise, this is an amazing intro game to make you fall in love!! Very Impressed. Great job Gamehouse!!
There isn't much to say about this one. Spot on time management game from Gamehouse. Achievements are easy to get and the story isn't bad. It is definitely a million times better than Sally's Salon.
This game is the worst gamehouse so far. It actually should be use as a textbook exemple of what NOT to do when making a time management game. Because it succeed in doing the incredible of being bad at NEAR EVERYTHING. Let's start with the positive : The 2d backgrounds and elements of the mini-games are on the same level of quality as other gamehouse games. Which is honestly nice and enjoyable. But, with a certain number of textures problems in some of the minigames... hm. Music is correct without being good and might become boring really fast (depends on the person, i admit). Now the negatives: Gameplay, the game offers no challenge. A 5years old could do it entirely without losing even once. You can do it entirely without taking more than one item at the time, you will always finish the levels with at LEAST 2 or 3 (often 5 to 8) clients that won't even be counted in the score because you already reached max, you won't ever lose a heart in a minigame. Special point about the minigames : they have no variation, you will always have the exact same move which ask no timing, no precision, no rush. Just stupidly do the base thing and that's it. There is no comparison possible with hospital heart's mini games for exemple. Story Not only is there no surprise, there is also no drama. By that i mean all the other games had at least something to move the player emotionally, not this one. It's just plain boring. The characters keeps doing stupid things, that legitimately should harm people, but nope, never, it's a perfect world, and are always saying stuff about how they are all beautiful people, and perfect and can do no wrong. Epecially the main character whom backstory makes no sense in regard to her current struggle with loooooove. Story is also not helped by the actual visuals that end up making some situations really ridiculous... High heels on the beach sand or in your own appartment (i hate to be her neighboor) or
a wounded man, with an open one on his head left directly on the sand without even a blanket or something because, who cares right ? But the ones with a light cut or wanting to take a nap get a sheet.
(A bit of details :
not only is she unqualified for her job, but no she is a HERO because when all the actually qualified people PANICKED she didn't, seriously ?? She also keeps the two men in love with her dangling at her feet without letting one go "just in case" which is a super bad thing to do, period. And apparently didn't talked about her brother's death in the 10years or so between that event and now ? Also yes, her mom should have been there. Who let a ~5 and ~6 years old completely unsupervised and alone near a river ???) And her complete lack of self introspection that make her lash out at other people just because she can't stand for herself at any point in the story. Other characters even enabling her by painting the only reasonable one (as again, it's a job supposed to ensure the SAFETY of people) as a somewhat "bad guy" for doubting her and being harsh. (in real life she would have been fired in the first week...but sure). Bonus point for the pilote who "because he had a plan for loooooooove" decided to risk the life of an entire airplane in a storm, crashed it (i mean it's not like anything else could have happened, what a shock) and MIRACLE nobody died and he is a hero. because his stupidity was saved by the scenario WHOA. AMAZING. This really is a terrible plane company.)
3D and Bugs/Programmation problem That's the bonus round as a lot of the 3d models actually have collision bugs and you will see their eyes going through the side of their heads quite often for exemple. Which might not be a lot really, but added to the rest are just the little extra pinch needed to make it a really bad experience. And finally, the bugs. Because yes. All gamehouse are made on the same model but no. This one manages to add bugs and bad programmation. Every time you will come out of the mini game, better count 2 seconds because otherwise you first click will never register. Clicking on characters or an item but nope, the game decided you didn't. Orders cancelling out because you did a mini game, characters just straight up being stuck in "i will ask you something" but never doing it, making it impossible to finish the level. Game freezing because you clicked too close from the "bonus mission" of the level which makes him try to pause the game, and fail. In conclusion, It's boring. And that's the worst a game can be. I did it all, unlocked everything so i really pushed to see if at some point it would finally remember it's supposed to be entertaining. It did not. And the story was the killing blow, especially with its conclusion.... If you like that kind of game, please go try the heart hospital serie or even the delicious ones instead. At least you won't get bored.
This is an childhood dream game, but sadly its not a well built game, contains many crashes and long periods of waiting and no challenges, I LOVE AMBER AIRLINES SERIES, but its too buggy and annoying of an game play. Had to manually delete files and fix issues here and there to get it working, glitches were the final straw for me sadly, bugged and nothing fixed it (level 4, text David to find a restaurant ) couldn't do anything to get it to work this level, couldn't walk, Moreover would not pick up items! please get them fixed, Ill look forward to buying the entire bundle if no bugs
