About
Welcome to a compact, tightly packed Metroidvania, where the Square Aspect Ratio and Single Screen Level Design allows every one of the 200+ rooms to slot into the larger puzzle-box of the world; where secrets, exploits and sequence-breaking are built into the very foundation of the game; and where the overarching story doesn’t care too much which path you happen to take through the game.

Play the bosses out of order, why don’t you? Spawn your own Climbing Vines and sneak past difficult puzzles. Find a fifth secret temple in the east. Skip picking up any weapon and get by using only special abilities. Is it possible? Who knows!
Alruna is a dryad in a dying world – a spirit of life in the land of the dead. The earth is sucked dry. There is only The Sprawl. Poor, bedraggled skele-men dot the Wasteland of the Necro-Industrialists and shuffle endlessly back and forth in a toiling mockery of life. But are they the real enemy? Or do the skeletons suffer just as much as the dryads under the domination of the Necro-Industrialists?
And salvation? Is it possible? Dead men yearn for Heaven. But the dead can only dig...

An overworld that connects all areas of the game.
Four large “temples”, each one with a powerful upgrade and a formidable boss.
Maybe a secret fifth temple? There are rumors…
A star-crossed enemies-to-lovers romance with a rival adventurer. No spoilers!
Multiple endings, let’s call them the “combat ending” and the “exploration ending”.
Hidden mini-games, power-ups, shortcuts and secrets behind every wall.

Jogo excelente! Finalizei mas por alguma razão não contou as horas totais (mais ou menos 3 horas de jogo). Não posso esperar pela continuação, esse jogo é uma poesia anti-sistemica em forma de jogo.
I complete a game to 100% very rarely, but this game did it for me. It's so well crafted, clever and metal. Every single screen is fresh, the world is neatly interconnected, and in addition to the very clever item gating, there is a lot of knowledge gating too. One of my favorite puzzle metroidvania by far.
amazing :3
The good: - Solid gameplay for the most part, the controls are deliberately weird at first but really grow on you fast. - Lovely art. - Really good soundtrack, if you are into chiptunes. - Exploration is actually fun, there are secret passages everywhere, and - The game is highly non-linear, meaning there is not even really a sequence to break The bad: - The political views expressed in the game are really sophomoric and cringe. Unironically using phrases like "the forces of reaction" and "belief in ownership". YMMV, of course, but be warned. - Endless glitches. You can get stuck in scenery or just get stunlocked by the most basic grunt enemy and lose all your health simply because you cannot walk away from the enemy's sprite, who isn't even doing anything. Sometimes, the charge jump will simply not work for no apparent reason. Sprites and hitboxes are not well aligned. None of it is truly game-breaking, but it glitches out often enough to be at least quite annoying. - The bosses are super easy. Don't get me wrong, I'm happy about every MV that does not carry the soulslike tag, but there is absolutely no challenge in it at all besides maybe the final boss, a little. - The game is fairly short, beat it the first time in about 3 hours and in 2 hours on the second run. -
If you achieve one ending, the save file just gets locked at whatever completion rate you were at the time, and you will have to start a new playthrough to see the other ending or fully explore. To top it off, one ending can be accidentally achieved by jumping too high when trying to talk to a very unfortunately placed NPC.
Overall, I think the game is pretty fun and enjoyable. Don't take it too seriously, save often, enjoy the gameplay.
Nails the look and sound, and thats about where the positives end. The game was buggy with controllers, with me needing to enable them on steam settings for the game for them to work the first time, then not working the second time unless I plugged it into the second port and set the controller as 2nd controller, an issue I've never had with a game before. The controls can't be rebound. The slide dash is awful, as you have to hit dash then crouch at the perfect time after, leading to tons of trial and error. Why this couldn't just be a dedicated button or just holding down then pressing dash after makes no sense. The game goes for the high jump needing to hold down for a few seconds then pressing jump, leading to more trial and error. Throwing seeds requires another combined button press instead of a simple button press. The game has some upgrades for puzzle solving, but you use the same weapon all game, and get no health or other upgrades. Theres a bunch of water drops throughout the game but theyre for some extra stuff and don't seem to be worth anything significant. The rest of the game just isn't fun. Combat and movement is stiff. Hitboxes are super wonky and awful. Every room is super small and enemies instant respawn the second you leave. Most of the game isn't really much of a MV, its basically just a puzzle game. Do this here to unlock this to go to this room 3x away to use this to unlock this back this way to go back etc. The map gives no info about locked doors or blocked passageways. Theres way too few warp points and save spots. You are constantly lost where to go next, with hidden walls sometimes being the actual way to go forward. Prepared to use a walkthrough. Other than that theres not much else. Its a mostly puzzle game with stiff controls, bad hitboxes, awful platforming and movement design, poor save points, no direction, and no real upgrades. 5.5/10.
I have very mixed feelings about this game. It has fantastic level design and satisfying gameplay, but it is buggy. I have slid inside of enemies and been stun locked until I die multiple times, and I have been locked in a bouncing animation until I die once. This is annoying but tolerable. What I hate is that after you get an ending for this game, it locks your save file so you cannot 100% after the fact. If you finished the game before getting everything, you will have to restart from the beginning. What’s worse is that this game has a good and bad ending. From reading other reviews, it sounds like if you get the good ending, you miss out on the final boss, so I chose to defeat the final boss and got the bad ending. And, sure, I got to fight the boss, but it’s incredibly unsatisfying to finish the game and not get a good ending. Locking your save file as soon as you see credits kinda ruins the game for me, so I am giving it a downvote, despite how much fun I was having for most of the game. Also, I'm not a fan of all the NPCs speaking in song lyrics. I thought it was funny at first, but ultimately I feel like it turns all the dialogue incoherent nonsense.
