Alpha Lyrae Discovery is an abandoned Early Access 2D retro pixel top down survival game... laughably badly made, clunky as all hell. You land on a planet and bumble around trying to decipher the craptastic retro pixel UI. The game is incomplete and basic things just don't work. The game was abandoned roughly 18 months after launch and hasn't been updated in almost 2 years. It blew past the developers commitment to complete the game without any acknowledgement from the developers of their failure to meet their commitment to gamers. From a technical perspective, the game doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. A choice was made to use obsolete, decades old retro pixel "art" as a substitute for contemporary PC graphics. It's unclear if this is due to lack of budget or talent, regardless, the overall visual quality of the game is extremely low as a result. While there are options to change the resolution for the game, all this does is scale up the simplistic low quality art assets used to make the game, which makes little or no difference to the graphics quality. Without any other substantial graphics tweaks, it's not possible for gamers to improve the mediocre 2D visuals. The developers didn't design the game for modern gaming PCs, as such the game resolution caps out at 1080p, a very low resolution that became mainstream back in 2006 and became obsolete when 4K entered the mainstream in 2014. The game simply won't look right on modern gaming displays due to this failure on the part of the developers. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. Unethically, while the single studio/individual team is selling this game under Valve's failed Early Access program, they're abusing that program, and not working on this game full time, as they have other projects in the works. That means there's ZERO confidence anyone who buys this in Early Access will receive a complete game, and it's possible that they're being scammed. Equally unethically, the developer sold keys to this abandoned Early Access game into cheap, nasty game bundles, where they knew it would be advertised and sold as a complete game. This seems to have been done in an attempt to mislead gamers into buying a knowingly faulty, defective and incomplete product. When a developer does this for a game they have zero practical intention of completing, this is essentially a scam, an intention to get paid for a broken/unfinished product. Often this is done as an exit strategy, as the developer takes the money and runs. No refunds have been given, the developer kept all the money they took from gamers.
Warning: Review Manipulation!
This game features a number of fake positive reviews from accounts known to be in the business of review manipulation/paid reviews. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product. Alpha Lyrae Discovery has an overly optimistic price of around $5 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam.
In essence, it's not a bad Tower Defence, a simple and uncomplicated game, with management and an open world. The story is just for show, it's not really needed. The graphics are a bit too simple, as far as I'm concerned, that's a minus. I advise you to buy it at a discount.
An open world 2d survival game that takes from other titles and brings them all together in a nice way. Fun and addicting gameplay combined with charming 2d graphics makes this a joy to play!
I loved because this game is my genre of game. The game is really amazing. I highly recommend This game ! Give it a try !!
well, what can we say about this game ? ..: The gameplay is interesting and the graphics a bit basic. I think this game may be of interest to fans of the ride genre, resource gathering and tower defense aspects etc. A little bit of management too. I find that some details are still missing at this stage in the game. I haven't tried all the features it offers yet .. But I definitely think that it can be improved on certain points, in particular there are a lot of things i don't understand yet in the game interface ... etc small things that keep me from getting my foot on for now. So nice game, but actually always in early access, suddenly, I wait for it to prove itself to really invest myself in several hours of play. I recommend it all the same, it's really not bad.
Gameplay: 9/10 Graphics: 5/10 Soundtrack: 8/10 Variety: 8/10 No bugs and problems: 7/10
简单来说,傻逼游戏
I created my character and when the game started I clicked randomly on the map. My character walked to the point I clicked with very loud footstep sound effects. The character stopped moving. The footstep sound effects kept going. My character wouldn't move again, no matter how much I clicked. The footstep sound effects kept going. The footstep sound effects are still going. Nothing else is happening no matter what else I press. It's just footsteps forever.
A simple gameplay that any player can handle. For me, the graphics are a little unusual, but you get used to it quickly. In general, I liked the game I advise you
