About
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 drops up to four players into the boots of Colonial Marines deployed to the most hostile corners of the Aliens universe. This is not a rescue mission – it’s a fight for survival. Xenomorphs stalk the corridors, ambush from the shadows, and swarm in overwhelming numbers. Every room could be your last. Coordinate with your fireteam, leverage each class’s unique abilities, and adapt on the fly as encounters escalate from tense standoffs to all-out war. With deeper squad mechanics, smarter enemies, and a fully customizable Specialist class, AFE2 delivers the definitive co-op Aliens experience.

Join our Discord server, Marine.
Expanding from three to four players, AFE2 introduces deeper team-based mechanics that reward coordination and strategic class composition. New and improved classes each bring distinct playstyles and tactical abilities to the fight, making every squad combination feel different.
The iconic xenomorphs are more ferocious than ever before. AFE2's massive variety of new xenomorphs will force players to stay mobile, maintain situational awareness, and use every tool at their disposal. From stun batons for up close melee action in those most desperate moments, to pyro and electric ammo to whittle down the unrelenting xenomorph front before they overrun you and your squad, the battle can shift from calculated tension to desperate last stand in seconds.
Beyond expanded weapon and gear customization, AFE2 introduces the Specialist – a fully customizable class that lets players mix and match major and minor abilities from every available class. Build a loadout tailored to your exact playstyle and fill whatever role your squad needs.
AFE2 launches with multiple dedicated Horde maps that push squads to their limits. Battle through escalating waves of xenomorphs and other deadly enemies, earning increasingly valuable rewards as you survive deeper into the onslaught. This is where teamwork and skill are tested at their absolute peak.

its bad in every way other than visually. 1. locking certain basic things like cosmetics or challenge cards behind game progression feels like a lazy way to forcibly pad out hours played. 2. enemies jittering or even outright teleporting is a constant issue, especially during the second-half of the campaign. 3. the audio is dog water to be frank. the aliens sound like theyre halfway across the room from you even if theyre up in your face, voicelines can and will repeat with an echo, the guns are only passable. 4. the dialogue is terrible. if they were intending to make an obnoxious 'so quirky lol' character then they did raptor well. ko has the personality of easily forgettable cardboard even for someone supposed to be the hardass type. shipp. piper i feel as though could have had better development other than 'i spoke once on the comms now im learning :)' esther and wrench i like simply because they feel more natural compared to the rest. 5. i struggled to pay attention to the storyline on account of the fact that it was so bland and samey. the prologue had me hooked, i was excited. the 2.x missions managed to keep that excitement building up until 3.1 even if there were fair leaps of escalation. the more you start to learn about the big evil doctor, however, and the further you progress into that arc the worse it gets until it becomes nothing more than a 'big scary scientist is doing EVIL and playing GOD.' 6. the ai clearly has a few screws loose as very frequently from what ive played, they would do things such as conga lining or get themselves stuck on nothing in an open space (an issue especially prevalent with the droid enemies). the only ai that seems to work decently well and kind of erratically are the synths, which is bad, because youd also expect that the xenomorph enemies would be able to do more than walk in singular straight lines at you. 7. semi infrequently (in my experience) the interaction key would either take one-two seconds delay or outright stop working. really just a nuisance compared to everything else. 8. the difference between the pre-rendered cutscenes, in-game cutscenes and the actual gameplay itself is utterly jarring to such a degree that it can pull you out of the immersion; going from wonderful to look at immediately into grainy 80s footage. this game is ultimately just fireteam elite 1 with prettier graphics and DOZENS of issues which one wouldve hoped wouldnt have been stuffed into a game that costs a whole 50 dollars. i love that they made challenge cards infinite, added new weapons and systems for said weapons, and abilities. but when i can count how many new things theyve added to 2 on both of my hands while the issues that persist infinitely, constantly grinding against you, its really just not worth it to purchase this game at full price. at best this is a game that you wait a year or two before buying, or buy it when its at a 15-20 dollar discount.

Decided to refund it after seeing that I had to manually select Private match every time. This is the developer's way to push and nudge people into public Matchmaking to make up the numbers. I have no intention of doing that, and at this point I'm allergic to poor developer decisions which are so cynical and so obviously designed as anti-player, so it's refund time! Edit: Things I forgot to add... The unlocks have been vastly reduced (you used to get three items from a Bonus Crate, now you only get one). The various sections of the weapon shop are now individually locked behind certain missions, to push the player into playing further to unlock a section of the shop to see how else they can customise their loadout. And the conversations required to unlock the next mission go on forever, even skipping through them. All of the things mentioned in this paragraph are a cynical attempt by the developers to push up the player's playtime, whether that is for their precious engagement statistics, or in the hope of the player losing track of time and playing over two hours and thus disqualifying themselves from getting a Steam refund. Absolutely cynical padding which was not needed and absolutely nobody asked for.
Who came up with the idea of forcing players to complete missions just to unlock basic things like muzzle attachments, optics, cosmetics, and other equipment? What is the reasoning behind this? It feels like pointless progression padding designed to keep people playing longer rather than actually making the game better. Are you seriously that worried about people refunding the game that you need to lock basic content behind missions? What makes it even worse is that this is supposed to be an online co-op game, yet there isn’t even a proper in-game chat system. How do you release a cooperative multiplayer game without one of the most basic communication features? That should have been an obvious requirement from the beginning. And then you charge this much for the game as if you're delivering AAA-quality production. The current quality does not justify the price at all. I have played free browser games on Y8 that felt more complete and better thought out than this. At this point, the best feature of the game is that it is available on Steam, because at least Steam gives me the option to refund it.
If you enjoyed the first you'll enjoy this one. It's a horde shooter with a few different factions. The perk system seems even better then the first game. For new players, you can modify your core class abilities to customize them for your build. The turret can shoot gas which can then be changed to a frozen gas for example. The rockets on the marauder can be changed to do fire damage and leave a pool of fire that lasts 5 seconds. The weapons can be heavily customized/modified AND new to this series is you can permanently change the ammo type to be fire, electric, ect vs temporary ammo. Look, this isnt game of the year, but it is fun. Single player with 3 bots is fun. 2+ players gets better and better. For Linux players facing crashes on prologue. I'm on Bazzite and I installed the Proton GE pack and switched my compatibility to that. That allowed the game to get past that.
This game should have been a DLC for AFTE 1, not a seperate game with a 80$ price tag.
Friend bought me this game to play together. We watched Aliens (1986) right before. Game was a blast, story was perfect for the universe, in my opinion. Skill tree for the classes feel cool and fun to play with. Plenty of guns to pick from. WillContinueToPlay/10 oh, and +2 for having a horde mode
Half price maybe?? All the game its the same over and over hold point and progress this could be better
Did you play the first game? Do you want more of that experience but worse? I don't like to just rag on a game, and I don't think this is a ""bad game"", but Fireteam Elite 2 takes a pretty solid game with a good concept and gameplay and somehow makes every aspect of it just a little bit worse. Now maybe it's just that time has sanded the sharp edges of the first one from my memory, but I still feel like they've missed the mark on this one. Fireteam Elite 2 adds some welcome things from the previous game, namely a fourth player as well as consumables being unlocks instead of individually purchased items that go away after 1 mission. They also added 2 more levels to each class, making 10 per class, which is neither particularly good nor bad. It adds some extra power and variety to classes, and the addition of a the "Specialist" class which lets you pick and choose from any other class abilities you've unlocked is actually pretty neat and a little broken good. We'll see if all of this makes their hardest "insane" difficulty less of a challenge (for the record my group managed to clear the entirety of the first game on insane). But that's about it. Other than those points it's basically just more of the same game, which isn't necessarily bad as the first one was fun, but there's some problems with that. The problems are that the whole game feels under baked. If I had to guess it's probably a) the studio was running out of money but had it mostly done and so they tightened up what they could and shoved it out the door to get an income going while they fix it up or b) they stopped giving a ♥♥♥♥ and just added some extras and shoved out a very half-assed sequel to capitalize on the franchise and game. I'd bet more on the first one, but either way the game has problems. Everything feels just a little bit worse; Going into and out of cover feels a bit janky (bad for a cover based shooter), the alien animations have issues where some of the larger ones will just pop into and out of holes, not like animate crawling in and out but here-one-second-gone-the-next appearing and disappearing, aliens both large and small getting stuck through walls or on corners, and the writing, oh boy the writing. I cannot say definitely that they used undisclosed AI to write this game but I'm not sure whether it's more embarrassing for them to have used it or not used it and decided this was what they wanted to publish. Just about all of the dialogue feels stilted and awkward, re-using phrases and nick-names at weird points and overall just lacking at best and grating at worst. Do you like intel? Do you want to gather some more intel? Cause you're gonna gather a lot of intel in this game. It seems like they could sparsely come up with anything better to do than "Grab intel!" to move the story forward and give you a reason to go the places you're going and do the things you're doing. On top of that the player barks are just godawful. Get ready to hear "Sharp stick ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥!" every other minute for the entirety of each mission. There's only like 3 or 4 exclamations that your character will say during combat and they all suck so hard and your characters will take any an every opportunity to shout one. I did look on the discussions board and from what another player posted it *seems* like they're all very tenuous references to incredibly minor parts of the movies but they are so poorly executed that it was what made me suspicious that maybe they used AI for the writing in this game. All of that together has lead me to turn off character voice audio and the game is much better for it. I'd highly recommend it when you're not doing a new mission (if you care at all about the story) to turn it off as it highlights the music score, which is actually pretty nice and does a good job of setting the mood. As I said at the beginning, I don't think this is a bad game-- it actually delivers on being fun, particularly, as with the first one, when you're playing with a group of friends-- but I cannot say this is a good game. I'd recommend getting and playing through the first Fireteam Elite before considering this one, and hopefully they'll do some updates to make this a much better experience, because it really could be "More of the first game (complimentary)" rather than "More of the first game (but worse)". Right now it just feels like getting poked in the eye with a sharp stick, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.
Fun game, builds upon the first. It has occasional bugs, but nothing game breaking yet. Definitely recommend.
This is a rough one. I enjoyed the first one despite it being quite bland. The sequel feels more like a version 2.0 instead of a second game, kind of like the Fifa/Madden/NHL games. The game crashed within seconds of launching the game and changing my controls, not worth it right now.
