Aliens&Asteroids

There are a lot of these action arcade retro style shooters on Steam now, but this one is the BEST one in my opinion to launch on Steam to this point, and to see this game launch at under a dollar is a treat to see, especially with so many asset flips and low/no effort garbage coming out these days in the same price range. In January of 2016, I highly praised a similar game to this in BitBlasterXL, another 99 cent indie gem much like this one. However Aliens & Asteroids out muscles that amazing little game in almost every way and outscores the 90% score I gave to BitBlasterXL when it first launched. It offers more power ups, more collectibles, and way more aliens and enemies than does BitBlasterXL did! It does with with a very similar gameplay style and full options to adjust screen resolution, seperate music and sound sliders, customizable keys for controls, and an awesome little store where you can spend collected shards to increase probabilities of power up and items drops. This game scored an impressive 92% with my unique scoring system, and gets my rare "MUST BUY!" recommendation! ..Don't miss this one people, it's an amazing little gem that offers a helluva lot of bang for a very small price!

A really well made Shoot ’em up game with lots of content and upgrades. It reminds me a lot of some flashgames you could play all day - just that it is way more polished.

Gameplay: https://youtu.be/-BOBdu7aFBM While the other similar price range shmup, Bit Blaster XL, isn't my favorite shmup/asteroid-like shmup, it proved in theory a low budget passion project shmup category of the genre deserves to exist. And again while Aliens&Asterioids itself isnt perfect, it's a work in progress on Steam Early Access that has potential. First off it has leaderboard support and feels just fine via gamepad or kb+m, it currently has 5 bosses as you progress through the levels. You also have account level unlocks, making it feel somewhat like a Rogue-lite. This game can really become bullet hell-esque which I enjoy. All the mechanics of the game and pickups also feel well thought out and not like this is someone's game maker game they just copied out of a "how to code book." It seems like it has a growing, albeit small, player-base but just hasn't received any coverage which is a shame. I'll continue to play and check in frequently after updates. It has potential. Hope someone else reads this and finds they want to drop a dollar and support a little guy.

I was honestly surprised how much fun this game is. It's not the kind of game I am used to playing, but once I tried it I enjoyed it greatly. Each playthrough is a challenge, whether or not I can beat my own highscore and climb the leaderboard further. Unlocking new items definitely helps and I especially like the huge fiery sword which rotates around you. Given the asteroids look like peanuts :D and there are some minor bugs, but the game is still in early access and it is rather cheap, so I can definitely recommend it.

I haven't managed to get past the first stage yet but my first impression is it seems like a good honest game for people with strong co-ordination skills. Nice level ups and bonus's which you can manually upgrade make the game interesting and reasonable to progress. I will say in my opinion it feels like it gets very hard very quick. Doesn't seem to be any balance from the perspective of being playable for a casual gamer as well as a pro gamer.

Chaotic, and most importantly : fun ! Works great, lots of power-ups, worth your time and money if you like space shooters that are going insane and throw ten thousands of enemies at you at the end because you won't die :3
