I attempted to play multiple times but it just kept crashing on me. I uninstalled and reinstalled it, verify integrity but still had the same problems.
Anyone with a handheld like the Steam Deck should definitely give these Alien Breed games a try, even if you're not usually into isometric twin-stick shooters. It looks like a new game and has aged amazingly well. The comic-book style interludes and the voice acting are great. It has full controller support, it's just missing on-screen button icons. One thing I'd recommend is going online and looking up how to unlock the refresh rate beyond 60Hz, as for some reason it's capped. I wish they'd do a redux and combine the episodes into 1 game.
Just finished Alien Breed 2 and honestly… I spent half the game feeling like a space janitor with a gun and no budget. The atmosphere is chef’s kiss though. It's dark, creepy, and constantly whispering “you’re about to run out of ammo.” Which you will. A lot. Loot is so scarce that finding a single medkit feels like winning the lottery. It’s tense, a bit unforgiving, and somehow makes opening a locker more exciting than most boss fights. If you enjoy being underprepared in a space nightmare… this game gets it.

It's such a great game so far. It reminds me of the atmosphere of the game "Dead Nation" on PS3. But in Alien Breed 2 you can change the orientation of the view, which miraculously works well here.
Alien Breed 2: Assault the continuation of the first episode "impact", we pick up the story where we stoped in the first time, boarding the ghost ship which is crawling with alien monsters, fighting trough endless hordes of aliens while the ship is falling apart due to the nearby planet gravitational pull, our companion the synthetic female mia didnt want to wait out this tho happen so instead she wants to selfdestruct the ghost ship while we escape with our ship the leopod... khhmm lets just say things are not going in the way as she planed out. like in the first episode you will get the same gameplay, kill aliens nonstop and go back and forth to find/fix/break stuff, the environment is more guresome since we are exploring the ghost ship, its full of alien grow, slime, and dead bodies. the weapon selection is mostly stayed the same (pistole, assault gun, flamethrower), but this time we got a minigun which is going to be your bread and butter, this gun f*ucks! save up the10k credit for the damage upgrade and and wreak havoc!!! ahh yes you get a rocket launcher as well... its powerful and kills anything with one shoot, unfortuuuunateeely its going to be useless for you for one simple reason, 80% of the enemies are melle attacking monsters :/ needless to say you dont want to blow up yourself, and shooting that 1 or 2 ranged alien feels like waste, which leads to the next conclusion, sell the rocket ammo, its gives good amount of money to buy minigun ammo! sadly this episode have the old physx engine which is killing your fps time to time, this is a huge negative thing sadly, and nearly makes inpossible to finish the last stage of the last map. i still give a positive review despite the repetitive quest and the physx BS, the game itself is good, its a strong B category run and gun top down view game, and back in 2010 its was awesome with the coop gameplay.
The game is not bad, quite short, but that's good because it gets repetitive quickly. The story is not bad. The explosions could have been smaller and the controls more stable. For me, the big minus is the upgrade system. Too small and too expensive. There are only three upgrades for the hero, for each weapon there are also three, but you can only use one and most always for more power. And nothing is saved if you start a free game. The prologue is a separate level from the campaign and is activated separately. Best with a discount. It just copies the review from the first game and there's not much difference anyway. Two weapon has been renewed and the bazooka is bad for playing in what is most often a narrow space. There are arenas but they are not anything special. Good story and the same gameplay without any improvements.
