You are a space trooper. Your crew finished the cleaning mission and left you alone by accident. Now you are surrounded by aliens. They're not going to judge you or something, they just want to tear you apart in pieces. Prepare to die?
Fight them as long as you can. Your crew may help you later. Maybe one of squad members were also left here?
You have an arsenal of five weapons, which can be loot from bosses. And aliens will sometimes drop some other weaponry if not damaged.
That's it. Good luck.

Alien Attack, developed and published by Alien Jellyfish, is a fast-paced top-down shooter that embraces the charm and intensity of old-school arcade design. It places the player in the role of a stranded space marine, left behind on a hostile alien world after a failed mission. With no backup, no reinforcements, and only a dwindling supply of ammunition, survival becomes a matter of reflex, resourcefulness, and pure endurance. From the opening moments, the game establishes its identity: it is not about intricate storytelling or complex world-building, but about the relentless rhythm of combat and the satisfaction of lasting just one wave longer than before. Alien Attack belongs to a long lineage of retro-inspired shooters, but it carves its own niche through its unapologetic simplicity and its focus on tight, responsive gameplay. The visual style of Alien Attack immediately recalls the pixel-heavy glory of classic arcade cabinets and 16-bit shooters. The art direction is minimalist yet effective, using clear silhouettes and high-contrast environments that allow for readability even in the chaos of battle. Explosions flash with bright bursts of color, enemies swarm in erratic patterns, and the player’s movement leaves subtle motion trails that emphasize momentum. Despite its simplicity, the pixel art has personality, especially in the design of the alien enemies. Each species has its own visual identity and attack pattern, and the sheer number of them on-screen during higher waves adds to the frantic energy. Complementing the visuals is an energetic chiptune soundtrack by Awesome Force, whose pulsing rhythms push the player forward through each wave. Every musical track loops in a way that builds tension rather than fatigue, helping the game sustain its momentum even during extended play sessions. The gameplay loop of Alien Attack is deceptively straightforward but executed with precision. The player navigates confined arenas while facing increasingly dense waves of alien enemies. Weapons are found by scavenging during combat, with five main types available—each with its own firing speed, spread, and damage output. The moment-to-moment play revolves around managing distance, ammunition, and positioning, as alien swarms can easily overwhelm a careless player. The combat system rewards agility and awareness rather than brute force. Surviving a single wave feels like a small victory, and each new weapon pickup injects variety into the chaos. One of the most engaging aspects is the way weapons force adaptation; a player who becomes reliant on a powerful spread gun may suddenly have to adjust when forced to switch to a slower, more precise laser. This constant flux of control and vulnerability keeps the game unpredictable and fresh. Alien Attack’s design philosophy is rooted in repetition and mastery. Much like the classic arcade games that inspired it, it’s built around the idea of learning through failure. Each defeat provides insight into enemy behaviors and optimal strategies, encouraging players to refine their reactions and approach. This lends the game a sense of rhythm—players die often, but they also improve with every attempt. It’s the kind of design that rewards persistence rather than progression, with satisfaction coming from skill growth rather than unlockable upgrades. The inclusion of leaderboards enhances this loop, giving players tangible goals to chase as they compete for high scores and fastest clear times. Achievements and challenges further reinforce this, offering short-term objectives that break up the monotony of survival runs. One of the strongest features of Alien Attack is its cooperative mode. The ability to play with another person transforms the experience from a solitary test of reflexes into a collaborative exercise in coordination and timing. In co-op, players can divide tasks—one focusing on clearing waves while the other covers escape routes or hunts down weapon drops. The mode also introduces strategic depth, as both players must manage space and movement carefully to avoid getting trapped in each other’s line of fire. Cooperative play not only reduces the punishing difficulty but also amplifies the sense of chaos in the best way possible. The joy of surviving a particularly tough wave together, with both players barely clinging to life, captures the spirit of arcade camaraderie. Despite its strengths, Alien Attack is not without its flaws. The simplicity that defines its charm also limits its long-term depth. Enemy variety, while effective early on, becomes repetitive after extended play, and the lack of meaningful progression means that sessions can start to blend together. The difficulty curve can be erratic, with certain waves or boss encounters spiking unexpectedly, leading to frustration rather than challenge. Moreover, the minimalist presentation, while nostalgic, can make the environments feel somewhat sterile after prolonged play. These are minor drawbacks in a game designed for short, intense bursts rather than marathon sessions, but they do highlight the limitations of its arcade framework. What ultimately makes Alien Attack enjoyable is its clarity of purpose. It knows exactly what it wants to be—a throwback to the days of quarter-munching shooters where skill, reflex, and endurance were everything. It succeeds in delivering an experience that is immediate, satisfying, and unpretentious. The combination of crisp controls, lively pixel art, and propulsive music creates an addictive feedback loop that keeps players coming back for one more attempt. It’s the kind of game that rewards mastery without demanding hours of investment, offering bursts of challenge that are both punishing and rewarding in equal measure. Alien Attack may not revolutionize the genre, but it revitalizes the essence of what made arcade shooters compelling in the first place. It strips away the excess of modern design and focuses purely on the thrill of survival and the joy of moment-to-moment play. For players who appreciate the craftsmanship of minimalist action games or simply crave the nostalgic satisfaction of dodging bullets and blasting aliens to a pulsing soundtrack, Alien Attack delivers exactly what it promises: a concentrated dose of retro adrenaline, sharp, simple, and unapologetically fun. Rating: 7/10
