if something looks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it's most likely a duck. and while alice trapped beyond wonderland looks like a hidden object game, it doesn't have any quacking hidden object scenes, so I gladly took a gander. I only found out a bit later that it's the sequel to alice trapped in wonderland, only available on mobile devices, which explains the very in medias res beginning. I figured it was because everybody's probably familiar with the classic story, but nope. so the dream you just had about the evil red queen kidnapping your wonderland buddies was real (and possibly the entire first game) and you have to rescue them. that's pretty much it, not much narrative in the whole thing. I've only played a couple of hidden object games (don't like them but I make an exception if they have fmv), but as casual as they are, I have to admit they're done really well for the most part. can't say the same about this. we have mostly nice graphics (some are a bit low quality), okay if forgettable music, a few annoying sound effects (every ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ door creaks and has to be opened every time), but barely any quality of life. no hotspot indicator, the cursor doesn't change over interactable things either, so there's a bunch of pixel-hunting, which also means navigation is kinda messy until you figure out which door or invisible exit hotspot leads where. there's not a lot to interact with, so it's not a complete nightmare, but definitely something to improve. and I don't think the text was proofread, the worst offender being the complete lack of punctuation (and the usual tapping nonsense instead of clicking). even if english is not their first language, surely they have to end sentences somehow. the inventory can only be brought up and closed by clicking the chest icon, it can't be made to stay open, nor does mouse wheel or right click bring it up or make it go away, even though it's pretty common in adventure games. as is right click to zoom out or go back, which also isn't a thing here. plus the inventory covers the arrow on the bottom, so after picking an item up, you have to close the inventory first, then click the arrow to go back. the notebook is only accessible by bringing up the inventory and clicking the book itself. it has a map with fast travel, gotta appreciate that, except putting something like this behind 3 clicks is not great ui design. and it looks like something you'd see in debug mode, the whole thing can be dragged off-screen. some notes are taken automatically in case you forget what's going on, but not only does it not record letters and stuff, it also skips a bunch of info relevant to actual puzzles, so it's largely useless. I had to *gasp* take notes on paper to avoid all the back and forth. hints are available if you get stuck. it's reminiscent of the universal hint system (uhs), where you choose a question and get more and more info until you're ready to carry on without spoiling too much. of course, both here and there the locations and questions themselves are already spoilers, plus here you get the full answer immediately. it sort of works and even has the screen numbers from fast travel, but of course a context-sensitive hint button not hidden in the notebook behind a million clicks would be better. once back in wonderland, things get less linear, you can wander around more or less freely. puzzles are the usual mixture of inventory-based stuff and various mini-games, some of which involve trial & error. since not everything will appeal to everybody even in a puzzly adventure (e.g. gears, pipes hidden behind a jigsaw, twice, etc.), a skip puzzle button would be handy, as seen in every hidden object game ever, and some others too. none of them are overly difficult or annoying at least. what I really liked is the season changing mechanic, pretty neat. saving is automatic and continuous, good enough in a game like this. no need for many settings and options either, and I don't mind the lack of difficulty settings with various limitations that only waste time, so separate volume settings and some languages, plus resolution options and windowed mode via the unity launcher do the trick. it'd be nice to have a toggle to only make text disappear after a click, as every pop-up appears for about 2 seconds, which can be too long and sometimes not enough with more text to read. nothing wrong with porting games from mobile to pc, but this still plays like a mobile game, so it's barely recommendable. okay overall, if nothing special, you'll get used to its quirks after a while, and it doesn't cost 20 bucks like some other lazy mobile ports, but there's nothing here a bit more work couldn't fix. the developers said they're gonna patch things up based on feedback but they never did. typical.
I'm no expert on puzzle games, but I really enjoyed this one. At first it seems deceptively simple, but it's more challenging than I thought, at least for me! I had to peak at the "Hint" book more than once! The game has only a few locations, but you visit them frequently and eventually are able to change the seasons, providing more variety. It's all stills, the only "living" creature is a pigeon early in the game. The colour and sets are gorgeous, and there's not much game info on the screen to spoil it. I think most of my friends have played it, but if not, I think it's certainly worth checking out.
No. Sorry, but no. Failed at the last fence. Pros: No graphical glitches, no crashes, can be 'won' (with the help of walkthroughs). Cons: Some situations don't make sense, objects don't do what they logically should do, impossible to complete without a walkthrough. This is an old-fashioned adventure game, just illustrated with lively colourful graphics. Go somewhere, find a spade. Pick it up knowing that you'll eventually need it. It has a hint book which is part of the game, and if you're at a dead end you can consult it and click on things like 'How do I get the rack ?'. Should work, right ? The problem is that the developers apparently didn't have people test the game. Or maybe they did and ignored the results. I have a high window to get into. I have a ladder and a grappling-hook on a rope. But neither of them are helpful, I need to do something else instead. I need to mix three substances in a cauldron above a fire. I have a bottle I could get water in. I have many things that look like sticks. None of this helps, I need to do something else instead. And when I figure it out, there's no reason why it should be useful in mixing, but in the game it does. The hint book is annoying too. Either it gives nothing away, telling you to do X without telling you what X means or how to do it, or it gives away too much in the questions "How do I get the rack ?" when you didn't know you'd need a rack or what 'rack' means in this context. Also, there's one point in the game which requires you to use the keyboard and no sign that that's what you're meant to do. Up until then it's all clicking. There's even something on the screen that looks like you can click on it, but clicking does nothing. It's the only place in the whole game which needs the keyboard. Putting the above points together, this game is impossible to solve without a walkthrough. I am betting not a single player ever solves it without help from someone else or looking up solutions on the web. The borrowing from the Alice books makes no sense. There's nothing in the game that refers to anything special about them, nothing in the game that needs it, and nothing that couldn't have been done just as well with some random people. I didn't get my money back, even though I'd founds most of these problems before the 2 hour point. But I'm hoping my review saves some of you people some annoyance. I'm a little sorry about this because the game has some good-looking graphics, one interesting mechanic I haven't seen elsewhere, and didn't crash or glitch on me in 3 hours of playing. There is obviously some talent behind the game, it just suffers from lack of overall integrity.
Based on the title, you might be tempted to believe this is an Alice in Wonderland themed game. It is not. It is a magical fantasy world themed game that on a few rare occasions mentions the word Wonderland or the name of a Wonderland character. With five minutes of text editing, this game could be re-skinned as a Harry Potter game and it would be equally convincing as such (which is to say, not at all). Upon completing the game, you are rewarded with a single picture that depicts Alice and some other Wonderland characters. I guess you would also have to swap that out with a drawing of the Hogwarts kids. In either case, there would be no difference in the game and it's representation of the titular franchise. As for gameplay, this is a clunky port of a marginal "escape room" style mobile app. You can find much better for free on your phone. Alice Trapped Beyond Wonderland is a small and insignificant game. I probably would have let it pass without a negative review were it not for the stunning absence of Alice in Wonderland content promised by 50% of the words in the title. Instead, I've spent more time on this write up than it would take to convert this game into "Winnie The Pooh Trapped Beyond the Hundred Acre Wood". Let that sink in.
It is wildly pleasant. The puzzles make sense and there are no hidden objects. A really lovely time and definitely worth the $6 asking price. https://youtu.be/uo07K6tloDo
Alice Trapped beyond Wonderland é a sequência disponível para pc do jogo mobile Alice Trapped in Wonderland.
This is a really great game if you love puzzle and point and click games! The art is really beautiful and has nice music that isn't very distracting. Really impressed with the art and several of the puzzles! If you want get get immersed into a game with clever puzzles, beautiful art, and fun story, this is the game for you!
A surprisingly sophisticated little puzzle game! I'm absolutely addicted to those 'escape room' games on my phone, not super complicated, but solve a puzzle, open a door. This has the same feel but you're collecting items and solving puzzles simultaneously in four different elemental realms, and each solution provides clues for a puzzle in a different realm. There's even an exciting surprise midway through that I won't spoil, but I thought it was brilliant! I had to consult a walkthrough to find two of the items I had missed, but otherwise the puzzles were fairly intuitive. The graphics are quite lovely and it's surprisingly engaging for a point and click game, not too convoluted without being boring, and not much backtracking either which is refreshing. I quite enjoyed it and look forward to playing other games by this company.
