About

Hello. Good news.
You are in the process of weakening your ego-structure
The dissolution of the ego-structure may be accompanied by unpleasant experiences, the powers of the heavens will be shaken, the heavens will be set on fire and destroyed, the stars will crumble in fire, and the earth and its works will be found.
This process will be painful, but will bring the blissful fruit of release
Help Alice cross this path, destroy the ego-structure, get out of the abyss, find the key.
Alice Mesmerizing Episodes of Neurosis (AMEN) is a hidden object game. The player's task is to find things hidden on the map.
The story is based on the motifs of Alice in Wonderland, but it presents the struggle with neuroticism in a graphic and symbolic way.
In the game we will meet characters known from the works of Lewis Carroll, such as the Red Queen, the Mad Hatter, the White Rabbit, the Caterpillar, Chester the cat and the Jabberwocky.
Alice finds herself beyond the event horizon, from which there seems to be no return. But is there nothing that can be done? Can we help her get out of the abyss? If there is even a spark of hope, it is worth trying
Characteristic hand-drawn graphics, with a strong symbolic style, complement the overall impression and build the mood of the game world.

As far as the hidden object genre goes this one is pretty solid. You need to really investigate each level to finish the game and get all the achievements. The images are really detailed and reveal a lot on further inspection making it fun to engage with the gameplay. AMEN has a nice and surreal depiction of Alice in Woderland using grotesque but at the same time gorgeous art to tell it's story. There are cryptic texts scattered through the levels that really sells the mysterious and surrealistic vibe the game has going on and those texts (or atleast the one I looked into) have meaning if decoded and go beyond purely aesthetic. Really solid game with a lot of narrative despite it's simple gameplay with great attention to detail.

A estética do jogo é peculiar; Singular. Dá pra entender a intenção dos desenhos e essa é com certeza uma das partes mais interessantes desse jogo. Gostei de tudo nele, relaxante de uma certa forma.
AMEN is a hidden object game in a horror setting, with brilliantly disturbing artwork and very appropriate strident music, which together create a very unsettling atmosphere. In each level, a number of small keys must be found in a large & often jarringly coloured scene to unlock the next level. There may also be a small number of secrets to discover, though these are not needed for game progress and levels can be returned to later in the game to find any missed secrets. There are achievements for completing each level, and for finding each of the secrets. Finding the keys can be surprisingly hard. On some levels I thought I had searched very carefully but after going through the whole scene I was surprised to find that I had missed 25% or even 35% of keys. There are a number of reasons for the difficulty, I feel - keys are small; some are hidden in the detailed chaos of the images; some are actually hidden INSIDE objects (some objects are automatically "x-rayed" when the cursor passed over them); and some are of very faint definition or coloured to match the background (I particularly struggled with keys hidden in the bright red backgrounds - the game's zoom facility was essential for me to find these). I'm not sure that I understood the overarching story or meaning of the images, but there is no denying the uncomfortable power of them, making AMEN unlike any other hidden object game that I have previously played.
👍
Interesting experience. Do be warned though that this (as a complete piece) feels more like a creative output for the developer rather than being made for a player. There are lots of encrypted texts; which I'm assuming aren't exactly meant to be deciphered, or even form a cohesive lore when actually deciphered and put together. If I'm assuming wrongly, the sheer quantity of the encrypted texts dissuade the player from going after them anyway. I personally did check out the obvious, non-encrypted Youtube links but they seemed to be telling of other concepts that were loosely related to the themes of the game. So I don't suspect they form a tangible storyline. Overall though, this feels like the dev's culmination of their experience with making games like these and their own style of art. I can definitely see how it could be made better, but this form of art isn't really about that. Also props to the dev for uploading a game shorter than Steam's refund timer. I'd say if this interests you, try it out. It's really cheap and goes on sale for even cheaper, and you can always refund it if you really want your 1 dollar back.
