*Alice - Behind the Mirror* - Nichts für Wimmelbild-Veteranen!
👑 Powered by HoI 4 Deu Curators group in German / English 👑 Follow Main group // Follow Second group
Randomly came across this game and was rather surprised by it. I was expecting a standard ol' hidden object game but this game seems to offer more. The puzzles are fun as well as unlocking areas and progressing through. I'm enjoying the added bonus of finding out interesting facts about Alice In Wonderland scattered around, too. This game is a nice relaxing break from being ambushed by everything in Elden Ring!
Got stuck the first time because the game made an incorrect save. Wrote review, but chickened out because so many had played it. Went back and re-played it. I love the design, and especially the historical notes on Carroll and info on Alice etc., very interesting. That's what makes this valuable to Alice fans. I got to the place game had stopped for me previously, and almost got caught again. Twice. With some luck I thought I was heading for a nice little end, but no. It drops like a rock. I know it's for kids mainly, but the end was just very disappointing and silly. A wasted trip. I should have left the game when I played the first time but wanted to see the end. I expected it to as good as, the rest of the game, or better. Glitchy game and crappy end. IMO.
是抽激活码激活的这游戏,这游戏好烂我进去就报错,还看起来很劣质,b站就一个人有录过这游戏的视频。也没报错解决方法
Alice - Behind the Mirror is a mobile app that's been dumped on Steam as if it was a real PC game (it's not)... it's a cash grab from greedy mobile devs. The game is a very basic hidden object puzzle game where you tap on your iPhone screen when you see the hidden objects in each junk pile you're supposed to sort through in this Lewis Carroll themed mobile app. Yeah, once more Microids are plundering the public domain and making old cultural favorites worse with these crap mobile apps they keep dumping on Steam. From a technical perspective, as a mobile app, this doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no options to change the resolution for the mobile app or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this mobile app is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this mobile app will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality mobile phone graphics. The mobile app features lazy low-polygon "retro" assets, making this look like a barely functional 3D game from the mid 2000s. It's unclear why the developers weren't able to arrange high quality, high polygon count contemporary assets for the mobile app (although the requirement for this to run on low end mobile phones is a factor), and also irrelevant... what matters is that this looks bad as a result of their decisions, a compromise PC gamers shouldn't have to put up with. The mobile app only displays in 4:3 pillarboxed aspect ratio. It's possible they developed this using an old CRT they found in a dumpster, or this mobile app has been specifically designed for people gaming on PC's from 1995... either way, this isn't really acceptable in the modern era of PC gaming. The controls can't be customised because the game has such a dumbed down, simplified interface that it's just iPhone screen tapping stuff. The fact that the interface is this dumbed down might be seen as a problem in itself, however... this is a fairly shallow experience if you're the kind of gamer that likes to play games with deep, rich control schemes and interaction. You'll get none of that here. Because this is a mobile app, it carries a number of deliberate design deficiencies. Compromises were made to cater to the iPhones that the mobile app was designed for. These are unfortunate handicaps and limitations that PC gamers shouldn't be forced to accept, but it's evident that PC was an afterthought for the iPhone developers who are to blame for this. The mobile app is deficient as a result of these choices, and would have been so much better without the handicaps that designing games for mobile phones forces upon a game. Once more, mobile devs have made gaming worse for everyone. I didn't spend thousands on building a gaming rig just so I could pretend it's an iPhone. These technical defects push this mobile app below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The poor quality of this mobile app is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 10 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality mobile app is to be expected. Once more we see greedy mobile devs trying to scam PC gamers. On Steam, this is $2 USD, on app stores, it's free. Mobile devs must learn PC gamers are not here to be gouged, and can't be expected to pay a premium for a free mobile game just because it's been lazily dumped on Steam. This is unacceptable disrespect for PC gamers. Because this can be played free elsewhere, and because of the other defects, it's impossible to recommend. Who do they think we are?
The quest for tickle sword may have ended, but the quest for the strudel had just began...
It's not really a puzzle game it's a series of find-the-hidden-object games, and more than once there were multiple objects with the same description in the picture but only one was the "right" one to find, like "brush" or "tweezers". If you like find-the-hidden-object things you might like it.
Nothing much to say beside that I found the facts about Lewis Carroll being super interesting. I encourage people to play the game not for the game itself, it's very basic, but to learn more about the author of Alice in Wonderland.
Authentic Hidden Object game with beautiful graphics, smooth music and funny story, which developers very rare to create this kind of games in recent years. And the price is cheaper than a coffee. Recommended.
