medieval hitman go-like with a vampire. collecting blood from enemies lets you transform and teleport without being seen. unlike hitman, there's keyboard and mouse support here and both wasd and arrows work, but no undo is a dealbreaker. it wasn't for agent 47 but that was a long time ago, I'm not cutting slack anymore for something that makes me re-do the whole level after a mistake. reset is almost instant when the button is pressed but when you die, there's a slow fadeout first. gotta waste more time if you can. only 15 levels, unlocked one by one, no move counter or anything, just get to the exit. pretty bad fixed camera placement but has separate volumes, languages, resolutions, windowed mode and some gfx settings, only in the main menu. no mid-level saving or checkpoints, of course, just a bunch of typos in the very little text on display. it feels like a half-assed student project or similar to get familiar with unreal engine, but as a commercial product it can't be recommended. well, it couldn't be even if it was offered for free.
Good game, a pity it is so short
It's a tactic game like Lara Craft Go or Hitman Go series from Square Enix. With a taste that only indie game delivers. The theme of vampire is interesting and I feel like the bad guy invading the castle haha. The new stealth mechanic is quite interesting because it introduces a different rythm on the game. (Although I played until stage 5 and didin't have challenging stage to use it, like saving blood to use stealh, maybe on the next stages). It's a great game when we see that it's a indie game with low price. The theme, scenario, background story, graphic and characters details (yeah) are great point of this game. Very joyful playing this :) Strongly recommend to strategy and vampire theme lovers.
A very good game in the style of Lara Croft Go. Not too easy and not too hard, some parts need more forwared thinking and brainwork than others. Graphics are nice, music as well. It creates a great atmosphere. The storytelling could be a bit more. But overall, I can recommend the game to lovers of turn-based puzzle games. Thank you to the developer and publisher Daisu games for making a fun game for me to think, relax and enjoy. Akabeth Tactics is one of those short experiences that can leave you wanting more. Its a solid game from start to finish in one of my favorite settings (Vampires, gothic) and only lacks one small, insignificant feature a majority of players expect today. In the game you play as Liel a vampire who was betrayed by the King and your goal of course, is revenge. A very simple synopsis and it works well for context. All locations center around the King’s castle in which you will move along a defined grid. If you have played games such as the Hitman or Lara Craft Go series it is the exact same. As you move one space, all(some) enemies will move. There are only 3 enemy types, one of which you cannot kill, but it all works as planned. If you kill 2 enemies you will be given the ability to turn into a swarm of bats(i think) that is able to move through an enemy. This will be vital in order to get to some exits. There are only 15 levels and it can feel like you are just getting started but it ends the story and journey properly. Anytime you purchase a game very cheap($2) you have a chance it can be a mess but this is actually, dare i say, polished? It works as intended, good animations, good graphics, solid musical score from start to finish which is so rare today. The only negative from players in discussion is the lack of achievements. That's not really a big deal to me but i guess that's a thing players i guess expect for any game today. Positives Good tactics game Perfect laptop game Solid game execution in all areas Negatives No achievements A little short Not very challenging
Akabeth Tactics is a strategy/puzzle game that really puts a lot of emphasis on planning ahead (by counting your enemies' moves) and stealth (don't get caught!). The game puts you into the shoes of a vampire who has lost everything he owned due to his lifelong friend (or is he his brother?) Cassius. It is implied that Cassius might have "backstabbed" you and now you seek revenge. I'm not very sure if Cassius has anything to do with your... uhh "condition" now though. Maybe you turned into a vampire by a fluke and well, since you've got a second lease on life... might as well make full use of it by getting your revenge! :P That being said, Akabeth Tactics is a fairly straightforward game. Basically, all you need to do is to get your vampire character from the start to the end without getting killed. Don't stand right in front of a guard would help you survive better; and not getting yourself trapped by patrolling guards (patrol routes are not random). will help you save a couple of level restarts as well. Unlike some other stealth games I've played, this game uses a grid, effectively forcing you to make use of the couple of "points" your character can move to. Every time you make a move, the guards will all make a move too. So, you'll generally want to stay at least 1 step ahead of any guard - literally - as you try to figure out a way to get to the exit point.
Watch me play!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ahYcjLuKqjA - I'll edit out only the successful runs and make a walkthrough soon :) Interestingly, since your character is after all a vampire, you'll have a special ability where you can drain the blood from any guard (not priests though since they have a powerful aura around them) as long as they don't spot you... i.e. as long as you approach them from the sides or from behind, and fill up your ability orb. You just need two kills to get your ability charged up, by the way. Once done, you can then turn yourself into a swarm of bats which the guards are somehow oblivious of. you can literally be standing on the same spot as a guard and he won't kill you... nice, isn't it? Anyway, with this ability, you'll be able to sneak past guards or use it to "stealth kill" a guard. You can try solving a level without using this ability and you'll probably succeed for the first few levels at least, but eventually, you'll find it short of impossible to not use the ability. In fact, even with the ability, you'd want to expect plenty of restarts as you slowly make your way - usually through careful observation and trial and error - to the end.
Overall
I've completed the first 10 levels so far and I do find the game intellectually stimulating and challenging. It is truly a delight to play and it's not overly expensive either. However, I'd say that this game does look a lot like it belongs on a mobile device rather than on PC. It's just the sort of game you'd like to challenge yourself with whenever you're bored, which more often than not happens when you're not in front of your computer.
