Honestly a fantastic game, I have had incredibly little problems with it. It is incredibly well polished and has some amazing story to go along with well written lore that is experienced through game cut scenes and in game dialogue. Some reasons to buy the game will go as followed: 1. If you like RTS games, this is for you. 2. If you enjoy making your own factions, race and character to lead that very faction or race, this is for you. 3. If you enjoy making builds that can be considered meta or fun gimmicks, this is for you with the variety of things the game offers. 4. If you like having multiple ways to achieve a victory if you find yourself behind militarily. This is for you. Ultimately this review is very much glazing. From my time playing the game I have completed the entire base story campaign and working through others from the DLC's. I have had a great amount of fun and I have been met with incredibly few problems or game crashes, visual bugs and so on. The NPC's in the game can be very easy to deal with or provide an incredibly difficult challenge depending on how their Empire is built or how your own Empire is built. NPC armies have proven to be incredibly intelligent in how they often use their armies.
a surprisingly great fantasy Alternative to civilization, having the ability to create custom nations and rulers is really fun
If you like civilization games but with a twist of Fantasy this game is for you
Love this game and this franchise to bits! Although I wish it was similar to the story of AoW3 meaning that you'd control and see the story from the point of view of a character, getting to make both minor and major choices that affect the current campaign or the story in general. In AoW3 the characters that experienced this the most were Sundren and Edward, I won't go into details in case anyone reading this wants to try AoW3 as well. Here you make a custom character or pick one from the existing characters which in theory could have been great if done like this: in the first rise of the godir mission, you'd get to pick between playing Yaka, Sundren, or your own player character. This could have been something new that makes AoW4 even better than AoW3 story and creative wise. And as the story progressed, if you choose to continue with that player character, the other characters would react to your past deeds, depends on if your were good or evil, were you helping the covenant or the shad'rai. This would allow the existence of both the custom player character element in the story and playing as the existing characters, leaving the choice to the player and not forcing them to make custom characters that had little flavor. My criticisms for the story aside, the game is amazing to play. I love the Combat, The graphics and customization options are amazing offering much more than AoW3 in this aspect, Although I wish race and leader visual transformations could be toggled separately, for example a pale human Death Knight leading a race of undead, wightborn just transforms everyone. The OST is amazing as always, my favorite tracks include clashing iron, trampled blades of grass, fang, and clutches from the hive. There are many more soundtracks that I love but those 4 are my fav. Managing your cities and expanding feels like a good experience, not to mention the random events that occur. There's still much more to experience and I barely scratched the surface in my review, if you're an AoW fan or a turn based combat fan in general you gotta give this game a try, you won't regret it!
Best strategy game I have ever played until today! It is very nice that the game keeps having new stuff and free updates, it shows how much they love the game and the players!
8/10 Solid game, solid system, though I would wish to have more variety in the late game and the early game in terms of game mechanic depth.
Sehr viel Optik, jedoch wenig Inhalt. Hinter all den blumigen Worten stecken nur Werte, die offensichtlich rauf und runter gehen. Die deutsche Übersetzung ist zudem ein Graus.
I was looking for a game that felt a bit like an revamped Warlords 3: Darklords Rising, but with a bit more meat on the bones. This game is absolutely that! I love it.
I started with a faction a Lawbringer owls, trying to rid the world of infestations. but now... i am in control a bunch of mosachistic owl-spider hybrid that make cat noises 10/10 would cat-girl spider-owls again
