Deep and variative strategy
Pros: Definitely looks good than AOW3 Cons: Combat doesn't make any sense. AI running through obstacles. Enemy AI units were immobilized but still able to move? Enemy AI has no range penalties like almost all of the time. AI unlimited casting and turns if you're not counting. AI one shotting your hero while you kept on missing for no reason (no buff or debuff). Auto battle says you overwhelm your AI opponent 4-1 but you still lose the auto battle? AI can't compute I guess and AI has to cheat to defeat you. How can an enemy ruler have 3 new heroes with high level when you already defeated and killed/captured his army 2 turns ago? Even ally or vassal AI is against you as it's either messing with your limited 3 army stacks, pulling the other 2 to a losing situation by coming near and initiating a battle we cannot win. AI abusing fog of war. Enemy AI outpost suddenly at your doorstep in the beginning because there is ancient site near me. Unbalanced factions.

For scale, across Steam · Top Sellers · Brazil over the last 30 days: the 24 chart moves that followed a price cut of more than 20% went a median of 9 places towards #1, and the 2,404 moves with no price cut behind them went 2 away. One store, one chart, one country — it is the only place we have enough observations to say even that.
Prices outside the United States have been collected since 6 August 2026 and chart positions since 19 July 2026, so a cut older than that has no market to compare and a market that joined later has no history yet. Nothing here is converted between currencies.

Fun gameplay, great aesthetics, love a fantasy CIV vibe.
This game is absolutely extraordinary. It doesn't even seem to be so much when you first play, but believe me the content is just incredible, the variety of MEANIGFUL choices you get to make which ACTUALLY influence gameplay dramatically.... I could go on. If you like Heroes, or even if you like Civ (this is not really civ but there are elements) - buy this game now now now. If you have a life, job, relationship etc. etc. please ponder carefully the value you put on these things. This game will suck you into another universe and never let go. Thanks for your attention..
Finally a high fantasy 4x game done right. If you can make peace with Paradox's DLC policy, this is a fabulously deep game that combines the tactics and gameplay loop of HOMM 3 with the depth and customization of Stellaris and Civilization. The initial learning curve is a bit steep but pays off.
Buying Age of Wonders 4 unlike buying something like Warhammer total war makes you obliged to buy pricey dlc to update your world. Dlcs add huge new races and mechanics that u will not be seeing without buying it. Although i've played over 140h i cannot reccomend this game because as a base game it feels very lacking compared to dlced one
Игра супер! Отличная «песочница». Много путей развития, море контента. Дальнейшее развитие и улучшение серии.
Polished but boring. The polish, 1. Voice lines for texts, 2. visuals, 3. game systems such as tomes, 4. the battles from 'campaign' to turn based combat; which can be auto resolved and rewatched to see how the a.i. handles it. I like this a lot that you can auto resolve and watch how the a.i. battles with your troops. 4. The hero's you can recruit - skill upgrades and equipment upgrades are quite fun 5. and so on can prolly list more etc. All these aspects of the game have been polished as I said and like there's a lot of 'money' backing this game. But honestly I found it a bit boring and stale for my tastes. I've also played Crusader Kings 3 so this isn't the only 'Paradox' published game I've played. Gameplay seems simple. Politics seems simple. Map seems simple. I just don't enjoy it. As I said, high polish but boring. Then you have to factor in price for base game was $25 on sale for me but in my opinion its not worth that price. You need to consider all the DLC and content you might want to buy to actually be fun for you individually and the game probably will even out at the $40 to $50 or more price range. You're basically not buying the game on sale -.- . Paradox has a reputation for this DLC habit so its not a surprise but seriously you have to factor in the base game is not good enough from my experience even at $25 sale price. Spend your money on other games.
The game itself is really good and fun, don't get me wrong. But the constant crashing, multiplayer bugs, softlocks, abysmal performance and other shenannigans are not worth the price of the game, let alone all the DLCs. I'll still continue playing because I am stubborn, but I cannot, in good faith, recommend purchasing this. Not for a full price.
Co-op constantly goes out of sync. While I loved the game at first, it eventually became one of those games where the DLC costs hundreds of dollars. It's like paying the price of a full game just to get updates. I can't and won't support that practice.
