About
In the years following the conclusion of AGE OF FEAR 3: THE LEGEND, a surging tide of criminal activity has thrown the realm into disarray. The rival gangs of the Iron Five have risen to prominence, leaving little in the way of peace or security in King William's lands. It's in this climate that the recently-graduated Vampire Hunter Angela embarks on a quest into corruption and murder after her inaugural hunt takes an unexpected turn. Along with her companion Nazell, Angela will go head-to-head with the criminality that threatens to sink the realm into its deepest Age of Fear!

⭐FANTASY STORYTELLING - get wrapped up in a spectacular storyline featuring a motley crew of characters, globetrotting adventures and fantasy shenanigans galore. All hand-illustrated!

THIS IS A SERIES WORTH SUPPORTING MADE BY DEVELOPERS WHO CARE! If you were initially cautious about "missing out" on new features and tried to figure out which game would be the most bang for your buck out of the Age of Fear series, it's actually a lot simpler than you'd think. I'll explain below. I suggest either buying the whole Age of Fear series or specifically the one whose story/characters draw you the most, because... - The series backports new updates and features to older games in the series. This means that, for example, if a new feature is implemented in, say, Age of Fear 4, it will be ported back to 1, 2, and 3 before long. That way, if you don't like the playable factions in 4 but do like the factions in 1, 2, or 3, you can enjoy this new feature with your preferred playable faction without having to miss out, just because you like necromancers more than dryads, or any other number of reasons. - Despite the connectivity in mechanics between games, the storylines aren't connected any more than being mentioned or briefly encountered in one another's campaigns. This means that you DO NOT have to play through the games before your preferred game to understand what's going on, aside from a simple, brief cameo or mention of previous protagonists' names. Pick which one interests you, and go for it! - If you're unsure of which game's factions interest you and would like a trial run, there is a FREE TO PLAY sandbox game for Age of Fear called "The Free World"! Use this to give the factions a try and determine which game will ultimately be the most fun for you to play! If you like the gameplay of The Free World, you are guaranteed to like the gameplay of 1, 2, 3, 4, and the upcoming 5, as they are nearly identical in gameplay. Their storylines, main characters, and playable factions/playstyles are what set them apart from one another. Ultimately, I consider the bundle very much worth it, but your mileage may vary. I haven't regretted my support of this series so much as once, and I can be quite picky! If the series interests you, I wholeheartedly suggest that you give it a try, at the very least! Sidenote : The developers are very well behaved, in my experience, and have been a pleasure to keep up with. They're positive, respond regularly, and even go out of their way to get refunds back to people who are displeased and went past Steam's refund 2-hour limit.
I generally like this series whenever it comes out with a new game, but this time around it's just not enough to recommend. Instead of the usual two campaigns in the game there's just the one. And it's got day one DLC. You don't get additional content down the line when developers make some new content, you're getting a chunked up game at the start. It's still age of fear and it's still a fun game, but if you are a fan of the series then keep your expectations a bit lower.
Opening/ Information
Reading a review is not enough? Want to see some footage? Check the link and watch some game footage for yourself and decide if this game is worth your time: https://youtu.be/VTXs9fVCeAw Age of Fear 4: The Iron Killer is a tabletop game, using the art style similar to well, Age of Fear franchise, in case you do not know anything about it, you should check the other games. Let's talk about Leslaw Sliwko, the creator of the age of fear franchise. He found his way and created a game that shoots sequel after sequel and people love it. Great work!
Gameplay / Story
I'm a Witch gunslinger, pew pew die monsters! Ah, the Age of fear games, you can never do anything wrong when playing a tabletop game. You get new units and two new heroes. The game plays itself as every age of fear game. You buy units, you level them by fighting, and you beat the crap out of everyone. There is not much to talk except that the game plays like a great tabletop. The movement is great, the attacks got animated and the story who is kinky, yet full of drama and a great narration. This time I did not like the heroes, the magician was to bland and the Witchhunter/ Gunslinger was nothing I could emphasize with. Give me the Dryder or even better, for Age of Fear 5, get me Ajay the Mastermind, a class completely dedicated into summoning 5 Techno Golems in total, with the ability to shoot people, shield your army and ofc having a Terminator like Monster who shoots fireballs. And the character is just like me, has no clue what he is doing and hopes for the best! Either way, lets go to the list.
Pro
+ a lot of different creatures with spells and unique power ups + two Unique hero with 4 classes to level up + nicely drawn maps with great background and story + the story itself as good as always + great tabletop experience + level up system is great with units to upgrade into new powerful once
Contra
- No Ajay Mastermind class - Hero classes are not as good as the one in part 3 of the franchise - the game engine starts to become older and more outdated.
Conclusion/ Who will enjoy the game?
Age of Fear 4: The Iron Killer again is an addictive tabletop game with unique units and a really great effort. Living up with the other tabletop games, not in graphics but rather gameplay and story. So who will enjoy this game? Do you like Tabletop games with a great narration? A really well written story and huge RPG elements? Do you like games like Heroes of might and Magic, but you wished for a unit management that considers more than just numbers? Do you wish to have a Mastermind Class for the upcoming game? Well here you are, and you can have the complete Tabletop RPG cookie! Fantastic game, amazing series, in short this game is *definitely* worth your time and money if you favor strategy RPGs with tons of RPG elements in them. This is the most refined version yet, until Les backports all the new features to the previous games. Play this series, it's amazing and this is a great place to start. Take care and God bless. <3
As with the other Age of Fear games: Great Story Great/Challenging Gameplay Unique Characters Perfect Music It also now has many performance bug fixes so everything is extra smooth. If you like strategy, this is a must buy.
I own all the previous ones and played them trough multiple times. Don´t let the graphics fool you, this is solid TBS game with plenty of units to choose and upgrade and evolve.
In my opinion weakest title in the series for two reason: Just one campaign, so it's quite a bit shorter than the others The new faction doesn't really feel at all central to the story. Sure you field naga units but the story is entirely centered around humans with the faction just being randomly attached. It could just as well be orcs or possums and nothing would change. Still the game is good enough to give it a thumbs up. If you are looking to enter the series for a first time I'd start with the others.
Игра хороша, как и предыдущие части. Одно НО - расстраивает платное ДЛС на второй день выхода игры (( А ещё расстраивает поддержка нацизма...
What sets Age of Fear series apart from many others are that the Devs do more than add periodic patches. They add new gameplay options that shakeup (in a positive way) the mechanics. When I played the first one, there was no Stealth, no Pushing, no crafting and no open world with random and special abilities for units beyond counting. These abilities fundamentally alter how they play. For instance wolves with their hit & run mechanic, making what once was mere cannon fodder, viable skirmishers. Its refreshing to come back after a hiatus and discover something new. This is definitely a labor of love and Age of Fear 4: The Iron Killer is no different. What makes this particular game is the main character, Vampire Hunter Angela. A pistol packing mama with a voice accented with a Southern drawl that would normally be out of place in a fantasy setting, fits the character to a T. She's sassy but respectful when situation requires it. She has a lopsided sense of humor but sober and serious, when the situation requires it. She could have easily been written off as a silly caricature but she isn't. The banter between the bad guys and her are to die for. Her and Bel'Kara are neck and neck for the best player characters in the series. Gameplay wise, great fun if you're into turn based tactical games. Although its challenging as hell at first, eventually it becomes easy, even at the highest difficulty because the open world provides you with so many items. The challenge eventually stems more from avoiding losing anybody in your roster instead of the battle. As for the story, mediocre. I liked the whole detective and investigation aspect but it was fairly predictable. I wish it had a greater emphasis on Vampire hunting. I'm not saying that should be the entire focus should be on that because it would get stale. However Angela *is* a Vampire Hunter. I also request the developer add a way for us to see the background art during a mission briefing. The writing is more than satisfactory to stimulate the imagination and art is a great compliment. To have it obscured with text and unable to hide and listen to the voice over does the franchise a great disservice. That'd be the ideal briefing. I have resigned to screenshoting the artwork when the text disappears for a quarter second. Also, why isn't the trailer part of the game intro when it boots up? Its well crafted and its a shame its relegated to the store page! Anyway, buy this damn game. You won't regret it.
