About

The story unfolds in the Z1 Galaxy, at the Beichen Orbital Station.
You are an interstellar courier, ferrying supplies between orbital stations, outposts, and private supply depots. Life on Beichen Star was peaceful — almost tedious — until crisis struck without warning.
During your shift, communications with the outpost suddenly go dark. Duncan 76 — the outpost engineer and the galaxy's most beloved clone — has vanished. The entire galaxy plunges into emergency as a pirate invasion looms.
You receive orders from the Station Commander: head to the outpost and investigate.

Mecha Nova has been an incredibly addicting mix of card-based roguelike and Mecha combat. In the current patch, the three starter mechs have incredibly diverse but semi-limited build potential which has had me try several different combinations of drones, commands, items, and buffs/challenges. While it's been incredibly fun, in the current campaign there does seem to be some guaranteed pitfall challenge cards, for example the Operation cards on the defeat of the enemy Caracal give you what look like 3 manageable challenges >Gain/maintain nano between 100/200 with below 100 buffing enemy mechs, and above buffing your echa >Gain permanent +4/0 for your mech and when enemy drones are destroyed the enemy mech gains 0/+3 CA >Gain +1 EPM, but all enemy drones gain +2/+2 At first glance you figure you can build around all of these but then you run into the next act's boss and suddenly only one of these challenges is viable to your victory regardless of how you build your setup. Take into account enemies being able to bypass coating and outright delete your drones and this leads to less overall creative solutions to the current campaign. That being said, the game is really fun and the challenge right now is learning what works and how best to pan around it, but I am hoping that the devs will also throw more varied challenges and battles at us for current and future campaigns. Current score: 8/10 (this will likely change as updates come and go)
Pros: Fun, well designed mechanics. Looks great. Great power fantasy of summoning units and other mechs. Feels a lot like a turn based battle network. Meh: Very breakable. Easy turn 1 or 2 kills. Con: Fairly easy once you understand the mechanics, and kind of takes a long time to play a run. I've played two runs with the first mech and it took 3.5 hours. One to learn the game, and one to win. Not sure if there are difficulty settings.
I love the theme, the music, the art - unfortunately the game is littered with bugs at the moment. There are abilities which are supposed to damage the enemy (like polluted circuit) but damage the player instead. This makes building decks and beating the partially over-tuned fights impossible. Would recommend if the bugs get fixed.
