Abandoned Car is best for players who enjoy atmospheric puzzle adventures on a budget and don’t mind slower, story-driven gameplay. As a compact indie title, it doesn’t reinvent the wheel—but if immersive mystery and environmental storytelling are your thing, it’s worth a look.
An immersive game with an unusual and captivating story, puzzles ranging from simple to genuinely rather difficult. With a mystery ahead and soft pleasant music in the background, I set out on a journey to uncover secrets of this world. This game is not too long, it took me almost 3 hours to complete it, with two of the hardest puzzles taking a bit more than an hour to crack. If you love a mystery and the sensation of triumph that solving a hard puzzle brings, then this game is time and money well spent.
I love the little world we got to explore, the charaters we met, and the overall story! It had some nice puzzles, but the controls could've been tweaked a bit.
The opening lines don’t reveal much, other than that you’ve been stuck in a strange, dreamlike place for quite some time. Fortunately, you come across an old car that could be your ticket out, but first you’ll need to repair it. The game uses a standard point-and-click interface, meaning all you need is a mouse. The playable area is limited to a single location that includes the car and a handful of interactive hotspots, so your options are fairly contained. You can zoom in and out and rotate the view to get a better look at your surroundings. The challenge lies in the fact that none of the hotspots are marked. The cursor doesn’t change, and there are no prompts when you hover over something important. The only way to discover interactive elements is to click on anything that looks suspicious. If you find something, the game switches to a close-up view where you can interact with or collect the item. To use an item, you select it in your inventory to activate it, then click on the appropriate hotspot. There aren’t many items to manage, and their uses are generally logical. An item remains active until you select another one, which makes it easy to test it on multiple objects without repeatedly reopening the inventory. The core gameplay revolves around a series of familiar puzzle types. You might need to connect wires by pressing buttons that also affect adjacent ones, activate objects in the correct sequence, or turn all tiles the same color. These mechanics are intuitive and require little explanation. Your main objective is to collect four batteries to power up the car. Batteries are also used to activate switches that illuminate new areas to explore. Fortunately, you can complete everything in a newly revealed spot right away, allowing you to remove the battery and reuse it elsewhere without much backtracking. A few characters appear throughout the game, along with notes that provide additional insight into the story. At certain moments, you can choose between different responses, some of which lead to your death. However, there is no real penalty, as you can simply continue and return to the moment before making the fatal decision. Overall, the game can be completed in about 30 to 40 minutes. It’s relatively easy and feels more like a brief introduction to something larger that may come later.
Nice game with nice atmosphere! I will definitely complete this game to the end.
A short but very content-rich game. Great atmosphere, an interesting original story, and many small details. It would be great to see more games from this developer.
Liked the game, specially atmosphere and theme
GG! Great puzzles and a lot of game content. Took me a while to figure everything out...
The quests aren’t stressful at all — it’s perfect to just play and relax. Overall, I really enjoyed this game, and I can definitely recommend it.
